Kevin Downey Named Varsity Coach

We are pleased to announce that Kevin Downey has been selected as
the head coach for boys varsity basketball.
Kevin has been an assistant basketball coach at Nazareth College. He
is a former basketball standout at Canisius College and Livonia High School.
He completed his college career at Canisius in 2006 as the sixth all-time
scorer with 1,583 points and ranks second all-time in three point goals
made with 185. He started every game of his four-year career and received
numerous All-MAAC honors both for his play on the court as well as
All-Academic Honors. While at Livonia High School, he played for his late
father, Tom Downey. He averaged 25.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists
as a senior leading his team to the Section V Class B state title with a
23-1 record. He earned All-Greater Rochester Co-Player of the Year,
Livingston County MVP, and 4th team All-State honors.
Kevin has his bachelor's degree in biology and his master's degree in
business. He is employed with G & G Fitness as a commercial account
manager. He is the son of the late Tom Downey, who was a much loved and
decorated basketball coach at Livonia High, and Linda Downey who is a hall
of fame volleyball coach for Nazareth College. His sister Christa was an
All-American for volleyball at Nazareth College and his brother Kyle was an
accomplished basketball player while at Siena College. He and his wife
Kim are expecting their first child.
