General Reminders / Instructions
· Helmets must have facemasks and must be worn at all times on the base paths.
· The pitching machine is mandatory for innings 4-6.
· Kids pitch innings 1-3.
· A pitcher can throw 2 innings max per game.
· A kid who pitches, can’t catch in the same game.
· Use your best judgment with games that drag on. If you hit 7:30pm, you need to wrap up the current inning and end the game.
· Regarding weather, the expectation is we play unless there is lightning or the field is unplayable.
· Call Bill if you think the weather or field makes for unplayable conditions at 617-594-2188. There is also usually at least one board member at the field every night. Just be safe and smart.
Working with the Umps
· Please introduce yourselves before the game, and support them.
· “Coach” the umps about being loud and moving around the infield to make calls. They don’t have to stay behind the pitcher. If they make a mistake, take it in stride and quietly discuss the call with them in between innings.
· Umps should sign in on the shack desk calendar and return the clicker at the end of the game.
o Bill has asked them for notice if they cannot make an assigned game so he can fill their spot. Call him at 617-594-2188 if you have a no-show.
o The ump should also give each team a game ball at the end. (Game balls are given out to deserving players at the coaches’ discretion.)
·
In the event you don’t have an ump for your game, please have a coach or parent volunteer act as ump.
There are clickers in the shacks.
