Spring 2012 Registration Now Open
REMINDER - 2012 Spring Registration is OPEN
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Warrington Youth Baseball
2012 Spring Registration extended
until Feb 15th
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Reminder that Registration for Warrington Youth Baseball's (WYB) 2012 Spring Season is open and will run through January 31, 2012 Feb 15, 2012.

note: Please note that after February 15th, there will be a late charge added. Note also that after March 1st the only registrations accepted will be if there is space available on teams.

Any player that resides within WYB's Cal Ripken boundaries (as shown on the WYB website, www.warrington-baseball.com) and is between the ages of 4 and 12 years old as of April 30, 2012 is eligible to register.

WYB is a Babe Ruth Inc/Cal Ripken Organization and provides playing opportunities in the following In-House Divisions:

Tee Ball - All 4 year olds and any 5 year old player that did not play Tee Ball for WYB during the Spring 2011 season as a 4 year old.

Coach Pitch - 5 year old players that did play Tee Ball for WYB during the Spring 2011 season, and all 6 year old players.

Machine Pitch - All 7 year old players

Low Minors - All 8 year old players

Minors - All 9 and 10 year old players

Majors (50/70' Field) - All 11 and 12 year old players

The cost for registration remains the same as last year at:

4-8 year olds: $125

9-12 year olds: $140

There is a family cap on the registration fees of $300

WYB's age divisions are "age pure" and requests to play in a different age group are discouraged and generally against our policy. The only players allowed to play up are those that have tried out for and made an older age groups "A or Blue" Travel Team.

Requests for players to be placed on the same team can be made in the Tee Ball, Coach Pitch and Machine Pitch age divisions by making a comment in the notes section of the registration form. Player drafts are held for the Low Minors, Minors and Majors age divisions - as such requests to place players on the same team in these divisions cannot be accepted.

Volunteer Fee - This year WYB is instituting a "volunteer fee", which is similar to what other programs and sports use, to ensure we have sufficient volunteers to provide the players with the safest and best playing fields possible, as well as to ensure that the organization and its activities are run as efficiently as possible. This fee of $35 per player is refundable upon completion of volunteer activities by a parent/guardian of each player. If during registration you decide that you do not want to select the refundable volunteer fee, the non-participant/non-refundable volunteer fee can be selected.

Each team will have a Team Coordinator who will track and log the completion of the volunteer activities that have been determined to be necessary to operate WYB, and upon completion of a qualifying activity by a family they will be eligible to receive their volunteer fee refund.

Positions on each team that will qualify for refunds include:

Head Coach (1 per team)

Assistant Coach (2 per team)

Team Coordinator (1 per team)

Team Groundskeeper (1 per team)

Team Parent (1 per team)

Sponsor

In addition, if one of the above roles is not selected or available the Volunteer (general) position can be selected. These individuals will be provided plenty of opportunities to volunteer including but not limited to preparing fields before games, repairing fields after games, repairing fields following large rain storms, repairing and maintaining facilities, and volunteering during WYB sponsored activities (picture day, WYB Day at the Phillies, tournaments, etc.).

The link to the Registration Website is presented below and can be found on the WYB website. If you have any questions please feel free to contact WYB's Director of Registration, Colleen Snyder at snydergirl718@yahoo.com, or any Age Division Coordinator.

Latest Rule Changes for 2012

link Updated 11/23/2011

CAL RIPKEN BASEBALL DIVISION The bat may not exceed 33”in length, and the bat barrel may not exceed 2 ¼” in diameter.  Only 2 ¼” barrel non-wood bats marked BPF 1.15 will be allowed.  Wood 2 ¼” barrel bats are allowed.

PENALTY

  • If the illegal bat is discovered prior to a batter completing his “at bat” the bat is simply removed from play and the “at bat” continues.

  • A player who uses an illegal bat or non-conforming barrel dimension and hits a fair ball will be ruled out.  No advancement on the bases will be allowed, and any outs during the play shall stand.  This is an appeal play.  The “at bat” will be considered legal once a pitch is thrown to the next batter.

Warrington Youth Baseball Division Overview
Warrington Youth Baseball (WYB) is a Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth Organization, and provides opportunities for players within our Cal Ripken Boundaries the ability to learn the game of baseball, and have a safe and fun baseball experience. In addition, to the in-house programs outlined below, WYB has travel teams which begin at age 8 and run through age 12 that play in the Suburban Travel Baseball or River Leagues.

Instructional Baseball (for ages 4-8)
At this level, the player is taught the basics of baseball - how to throw, catch, hit, run - and the rules. This bracket is made up of 4 divisions - teeball (4 & 5 year olds), coach pitch (5 & 6 year olds), and machine/kid pitch (a 7 year old division and an 8 year old division). The 8 year old in-house league team selection is on a draft. Travel baseball starts at 8 years old for those that want to play baseball at an even more competitive pace.

Minor League Baseball (for ages 9-10)
The minor league is a preparatory bracket for players to learn some of the finer points of the game and begin to play to win. Limited base stealing, player pitching and a slightly higher level of competition. Travel baseball is offered for all players in this bracket. The travel program is on a try-out basis. The in-house league team selection is on a draft - usually in February/March. You must play in-house to be on a travel team.

Major League Baseball (for ages 11-12)
The major league program is one of the highest levels of play for youth baseball. We will have no more than 10 teams at the majors level. We will play for a league championship and get into some advanced level skills. At the Major Division level all teams play on a field that has a 50' pitching mound distance and 70' base paths. Travel ball is offered at this level with tryouts in the winter. You must play in-house to be on a travel team.

Warrington Baseball's Connie Mack and American Legion program provides further opportunities for players ages 13-18. For more information on these teams please visit the website at www.warringtonbaseball.com
