Thanksgiving Baskets/ Food Drive
The South Shore Soccer Club and Pay it Forward with Jackie Inc. will be continuing a food drive to benefit Our Lady of Grace pantry. We will be collecting individual food and food baskets on Saturday 11/14, Sunday 11/15 and Saturday 11/21 between the hours of 9am – 1pm. We ask teams to collect food items on the list below and bring to the field house no later that Saturday 11/21. If teams cannot collect all items on the list please bring as much as you are able to collect to the collection bins at the field house on game days.
Suggested items (for a family of six):
Turkey, 5 lbs. potatoes, 2 lbs. onions, 2 pkgs. carrots, apples, oranges, celery, sweet potatoes, 2 cans corn, 2 cans string beans, 2 cans peas, 2 cans cranberry, 2 bags stuffing, 1 loaf bread, 1 lb. butter/margarine, coffee/tea, fruit, apple cider, pie (NO FROZEN PIE PLEASE). Anything else you may want to add.
The church food pantry is in a tough position this year during the holidays as our community residents are in greater need and donations are hard to come by. Please take the time to organize your team and help us as a club to make a difference this holiday season. Food baskets are being delivered to the church Sunday morning. Food Drive
Our Lady Of Grace Food Drive
Pay it Forward with Jackie Inc. The organization is based on working to fulfill
Jackie’s mission. We work in conjunction with other non-profit agencies to register
people on the National Registry, fill food pantries and assist families in financial
crisis with special consideration to families struggling with a childhood cancer diagnosis.
In the past month we have done three food drives for three separate food pantries and
have learned how horribly the pantries are suffering. Since, the soccer club plays on a
field right next to Our Lady of Grace, and since a lot of the players are parishioners of
Our Lady of Grace, we will be participating in Pay it Forward with Jackie food drive
with all donations going to Our Lady of Grace food pantry. On November 7th from 9am
to noon we (Pay it Forward with Jackie Inc.) will set up a table by the concession stand
and collect food from all members – all soccer members are asked to bring a non-perishable
by their coaches. We then will pack up all the donated food and deliver it to the food
pantry on November 9th. Plus, we would like to do it again one day in the spring.

BE AWARE
Please watch out for anyone moving our nets from VanBourgondien to The Field of Dreams. Two goal posts were broken while someone was trying to move them to the Field of Dreams. If you see someone other than club members trying to play on the fields please let us know.

Field of Dreams Turf Field
The Turf Field located behind Our Lady of Grace is off limits to all teams within South Shore Soccer Club of West babylon. No team is allowed to practice, scrimmage or play games on that field. South Shore Soccer does not have a permit for that field and as a result has no insurance coverage should someone get hurt playing on that field.

Attention Travel Coaches
If you are currently using or plan on using trainers to work with your teams please be aware that the Trainer must be certified and carded prior to hiring them to work with your team. A Trainer who is carded has had a background check performed as a part of the Risk Management process and is required by our club as mandated by Eastern New York Soccer. The safety of your children is the #1 priority of the South Shore Soccer Club so there be zero tolerance for violators of this policy.

The South Shore Soccer Club of West Babylon has new t-shirts, sweatshirts, car soccer ball logo magnets and more for purchase. There are several ways to purchase these items: 1) Stop by the table set up by the consession stand at home games or 2) Download the Order Form. The Completed forms should be mailed with a check made out to South Shore Soccer to the following address: 115 Ketridge Street, W. Babylon, NY 11704 Attn: WBSC Order Form. The proceeds from the sale of these items goes back into the club for supplies and maintenance of the fields.

Kids Soccer Goals Recalled!
WASHINGTON - About 190,000 MacGregor and Mitre folding soccer goals were recalled Tuesday, after the death of a young child.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission said a 20-month-old boy from Texas was strangled when his head and arm became entangled in the net of one of the recalled goals.
The agency received one other report of a child's head becoming entangled in a net.
The gaps in the recalled nets are about 20 square inches, which is a dangerous size according to the CPSC. The agency says netting should have gaps less than 17 square inches or greater than 28 square inches, to prevent dangerous entrapment and strangulation.
The Chinese-made goals were distributed by Regent Sports Corp. of Hauppauge, N.Y., and sold by sports and hardware stores nationwide, including Wal-Mart and Ace Hardware. They were available between May 2002 and May 2008.
Parents and caregivers are advised to stop using the nets, which can be returned to Regent Sports in exchange for a free, safe replacement. For more information, call 877-516-9707.

| Lucky Lotto Fundraiser |

The South Shore Soccer Club of West Babylon is proud to announce their first "Lucky Lotto" fundraiser to support the club's scholarship fund for graduating high school seniors.
For the month of November 2009 there will be a 30-day drawing. A $5 donation entitles the ticket holder to participate in cash prizes. The NY State Daily Lottery Evening Number will determine the winning numbers.
We will be selling a total of 1,000 tickets (numbers 000 - 999) during the months of September and October. The weekday winning numbers will pay $50.
We will be selling tickets every weekend just outside the snack shack. Please stop by and help us support our area's graduating seniors.
We are looking for volunteers to help us sell tickets for a few hours each weekend, especially High School Seniors. Those interested in participating, please contact Stacy Villagran at slvillagran72@aol.com.

West Babylon Soccer Club electronic newsletter available
The West Babylon Soccer Club has launched a new electronic Newsletter this month as a vehicle for better communication to the parents and players. The Newsletter will deliver information about the club, highlight upcoming events, provide a platform to recognize individual team achievements, on and off the field, and provide information about Soccer in general. It is encouraged that everyone sign up for the newsletter by visiting the Newsletter tab on the Menu to the left of this website and follow the instructions there.
