From: Tom Flugum, Head Football Coach Wheeler High School

This afternoon I have resigned from my position as the Head Football Coach at Wheeler High School. Although the program has improved in several areas during my tenure at Wheeler such as academics, discipline, booster and community support, and facilities improvement, those improvements have failed to correlate to the ultimate measure of a head coach, production on the field.

 

I would like to thank the coaching staff for all the hard work they have put into these kids in order to make them better men, the small but committed group of parents who have worked diligently to build support system for their kids, the local churches, businesses and community members who have supported our program, the faculty at Wheeler who have been very supportive in my attempts to make our players better students, the administration for giving me the opportunity to coach these young men, and finally to the young men who committed to and stayed with our program, I appreciate your effort, and dedication, it has been an honor to be your coach. It is my hope that you find success in your future academic and athletic endeavors.
