Last Week of Preseason
Schedule Changes
There have been two changes to the wrestling schedule. 1)The Arundel Duals will now be held at Harford Tech in Bel Air, MD. Hotel rooms will be provided for competing wrestlers but parents wishing to stay overnight must book their own rooms. More information about hotel location and scheduling will be sent out as it is received. 2)The first practice of the season will be THIS SATURDAY, Nov. 14th from 8am-11am. All other Saturday practices will remain scheduled from 9am-12 noon.
What you need for the first day of practice
Since practice starts at 8 am wrestlers should report to the school around 7:45 to be ready to begin practice at 8. Everyone should bring the following items to the first day of practice:
-Running Shoes
-T-shirt
-Shorts
-Sweats and knit hat (we will be running outside)
-Wrestling Shoes
-Headgear, if you have it
Paperwork Reminder
Last reminder, all paperwork must be submitted by Friday Nov, 13th. Remember, the only paper work that transfers from sport to sport is the physical which is good for one year. ALL other paper work needs to be submitted/re-submitted in order to participate in any practices or competitions. All paper work can be found on the Wootton Wrestling website, under the handouts link. If you are unsure about your paperwork see Coach O’Neill THIS WEEK to check, don’t wait until Saturday or you will not be allowed to practice. Required paper work includes:
-Physical, must be completed by a doctor
-Medical Card
-Wootton Permission Slip
-MCPS Parent Contract
-Transportation Form
-Schedule Conflict Form
-ECA fee-send payment to MCPS as directed
-BOOSTERS CLUB MEMBERSHIP, let’s get 100% enrollment!
Last week of Pre-season
Even though it’s still preseason, Wootton wrestling will be busy this week. Conditioning will NOT be held on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Wrestlers are encouraged to work out on their own but instead of conditioning, the following team activities will be taking place this week.
*Wednesday, 6pm-8pm - WADE SCHALLES CLINIC. Use your time right after school to get your homework done, all wrestlers are expected to be in the Wootton Wrestling Room from 6-8 for a clinic run by a former World Champ!
*Thursday, 2:30pm-4:00pm – Team Room and Wrestling Room clean-up.
Everyone will meet in the locker room after school on Thursday to clean our Team Room and Wrestling Room. Lockers will be wiped down, floors will be swept and the mats will be sterilized. Everyone will be released in time to catch the activity bus. Cleaning supplies will be provided but wrestlers may want to bring their own pair of gloves.
Wrestling Information Meeting
September 30, 2009 - 02:30 PM
There will be a wrestling information meeting on Wednesday, September 30th at 2:30 p.m. Anyone interested in wrestling or being a wrestling manager must attend. The coaches will introduce themselves, review the coaching philosophy, hand out a tentative schedule and discuss the start of off-season conditioning and mat club. The meeting will take place in room 13 and should end by 3:00pm.
