Cardinals Win Behind Gordon
Gordon held the Mets II to only 1 earned run as the Cardinals went on to win 8-4. A couple of Cardinal throwing/fielding errors kept the Mets in the game but the Cardinals proved they were resilient and continued to play defense with confidence behind the crafty pitching of Gordon. Smart base running enabled the Cardinals to score their 8 runs while capitalizing on the timely hits and quality at bats. The Cardinals improve their season record to 6-1
Cardinals Descend on Angels
The Cardinals descend on the Angels with a 5-3 victory to revenge a loss earlier in the season. The Cardinal batters came to life with a two out rally early in the game & score 3 runs to go ahead of the Angels. Cardinals provided a strong defense as John mystified the Angels with 7 strong innings. Roger closed the door on the Angels with 2 innings in relief. Cardinals improve their record 5-1 in the Fall.
Cardinals SeeSaw Battle To Win
Mother Nature finally turned off its rain faucet and the Cardinals ground crew worked extra hard in the sunday early morning hours to ready the field. With the white lines down it was time to "play hardball". That's just what the Cardinals and Yankees did this day. A seesaw evenly matched competition throughout the game. The pressure was intense throughout the game and the competition stepped up on both sides. A much needed Cardinal 6-4-3 double play late in the game allowed the Cardinals to stay close in their battle with the Yankees. The Cardinal pitching was good enough in the end to give them a chance in the last inning to rally the bases loaded and walk off to victory. The Cardinals improved their record to 4-1 this fall season.

Fall Cardinals Go To 2-1
The Cardinals topped the Rockies Sunday, 10-2, with great defense behind the pitching of Roger "Doc" Lope. The Cardinals broke it open with a 6 run 6th inning led by a grand slam by Cardinal rookie, Joe Capizzano.
Cardinals Open With A 9-2 Victory
The Cardinals Fall Team opened with a 9-2 victory over the Cubs at their new location in Waldwick . John Luciano and Mike Dittamo each held the Cubs to one run each. The Cardinals came alive in the 7th inning with a one out 7 run rally to bring their fall season record to 1-0.
Cardinals Return From Cooperstown Cooperstown Stats
A contingent of Cardinals spent four days in Cooperstown playing at Doubleday Field returning with a record of 2-5. Mike Dittamo picked up the two wins and a save by Roger Lope. Paul Simone, who joined the Cardinals for the tournament, pitched a total of 19 innings over three days earning him the Iron Man Title. A great time was had by all, and everyone completed all the games without major injuries. The Weeknight Cardinals compete Tuesday night in Sloatsburg for the final playoff game. A win will move the Cardinals into the championship game Wednesday night.
Weeknight Cardinals Still Undefeated
The Weeknight Cardinals pulled out another late inning rally to beat the Orioles 6-4 Monday night at Sulak Field. John Luciano pitched another complete game gem. Tommy Cooke came up big with an opposite field, bases loaded, double to give the Cardinals the go ahead and winning runs.
Weeknight Cardinals Go 11-0
Although not the best outing for the birds they were still able to get by the Highlanders with a walk off walk by Glen Hydock to put the Weeknight team at 11-0.
Cardinals Scalp The Indians And Go 10-0
The Weeknight Cardinals go 10-0 with a two run seventh inning to beat the Indians 7-5. Mike Dittamo kept the team in the game through five innings when closer Roger Lope entered the game and held the Indians to just one unearned run to get the win. Doubles by Kevin Smith and Mike Dittamo, and two doubles by Bob Salerno contributed to the win. A seventh inning walk, and two stolen bases by Tom Cooke set up a wild throw to third to score the go ahead and winning run.
Cardinals Split Double Header
The Cardinals played two games Sunday ending up with a split, losing to the Bergen Yankees II in extra innings 11-8, and beating the Rockies 6-4.
Birds Contingent Take First Place in Central Park
Fellow Cardinals John McCann, Kevin Smith, Frank Higgins, Roger Lope and John Luciano participated in the Central Park, Play At The Plate Tournament. Each player contributed to a 5-0 record to win the 2009 Tournament. Managed by John McCann and Commissioner Mark VanOverloop the team won the final game by a score of 8-7. Mark VanOverloop started the game and was relieved by John Luciano. Due to a final inning one out injury John was replaced by Roger Lope who closed the game for the final two outs of the championship game.
Sunday Cardinals Win In 10
It took 10 innings but the Sunday Cardinals bats came alive in the 8th inning to go ahead of the Braves 7-5. The Braves put up 2 more runs in the 9th to tie the game which sent the game to extra innings. In the top of the 10th John Luciano held the Braves to no runs. In the bottom of the 10th after a ground outs by Mike Dittamo and Gordon Fisher, Ed Angrisani walked and was pinch ran for by Gordon. Kevin Smith then moved Gordon to second with an infield hit. Kevin Kelly then singled to the outfield creating a close play at the plate where an aggressive slide by Gordon Fisher caused the catcher to drop the ball to score the winning run, beating the Braves 8-7.
Weeknight Birds Fly to 7-0
An abundance of hits, strong defense and another pitching gem by John Luciano, folllowed by Roger (Doc) Lope to close the game, put the weeknight Cardinals at 7-0 with a 12-3 victory over the Nationals.
Weeknight Birds Go 6-0
The weeknight Cardinals continue to dominate the opposition with an 8-5 win over the Indians. Mike Dittamo earned the win going 5 innings with Roger Lope picking up another save with 3 scoreless innings. The offense was led by Chris Safis, Frank Higgins, Roger Lope, John McCann, Tom Cooke and Mike Dittamo who all had two hits apiece. Steve Iaccheo pitched in with an RBI double in the 4th inning.
Weeknight Cardinals Continue To Win

The Weeknight Cardinals go 5-0 with a 14-5 victory over the Mets. Player of the game goes to John Luciano who gave up only 3 runs over 6 innings with 5 strike outs. In addition to Luciano's start Roger Lope closed the game striking out 4 of the last 15 batters, giving up only 2 runs. The Cardinals bats were hot combining for 12 hits, with doubles by Bob Salerno and Kevin Smith (2). The Cardinals travel to Yogi Berra Stadium this Sunday to face the Orioles at 9:00am.
Sunday Cardinals Get Revenge

It took 5 weeks but the Sunday Cardinals broke out of their slump with a mercy over the Padres. Combined pitching by Roger Lope and John Luciano allowed the Padres only 8 hits and 4 runs, while the Cardinals put together 12 hits and 15 runs capitalizing on Padre errors and getting hits with runners in scoring position.

The weather was cloudy and drizzly and so were the Cardinals as they continue to strand base runners (total of 19) and lack the big hits to capitalize on scoring opportunities. The Cardinals scored 2 runs in the 11th inning to break the tie game. The Padres did not back down and came back with aggressive style at the plate and on the bases in the bottom half of the inning to score 3 runs to win the game. Sunday Cardinals drop their 4th loss and look to avenge their extra inning loss by traveling to the Padres on Mothers Day seeking their first win of the season.

The weeknight Cardinals continue their winning ways and go 4-0 with a victory over the Nationals on Tuesday night. The player of the week goes to Bob Salerno who, with bases loaded, saved the go ahead run from scoring by throwing a line drive from left field to Frank Higgins who made the tag at the plate for the third out of the inning. The outstanding pitching by Kevin Ribitzki and John Luciano continue to keep the opponents from the bases. Bob Salerno was prepared to close the game in case it went to extra innings, but John Luciano was able to close the door in the 9th.

After leaving 12 men on base, and piecing together only 6 hits, the Sunday Cardinals lost to the Athletic's 4-3. The Cardinals pitching faired well giving up only 8 hits through 9 innings, but the offense was unable to give them the needed support.

Outstanding pitching by Roger Lope, who gave up only 1 run on 4 hits through six innings, along with a strong relief appearance by Kevin Ribitzki, gave the Orioles their first loss of the season. The Cardinals showed strong defense and the offense, led by John McCann with a 3-3 night, had a total of 12 hits and 5 runs to beat the Orioles 5-4.

The Sunday Cardinals are still winless after losing to the Astros 9-7. Although the team was unable to overcome an early 7 run deficit, they saw superb relief pitching by Steve Choromaski who gave up just 4 hits and 2 earned runs in 5 innings of pitching. Next week the Cardinals look to get into the win column with a game against the Closter A's at Barbour Pond.

The Cardinals pitching started out strong with Kevin Ribitzki going 4 innings giving up 4 runs and was relieved by John Luciano who finished the game with 4 scoreless innings. The Cardinals return to the field on Thursday April 23rd to face the Orioles at Sulak field.

The Sunday Cardinals opened with a 12-7 loss to the Angels. The pitching held up well with Steve, Roger, Gordon and John Luciano. A late game surge was not enough to overcome the early infield errors and quiet early inning bats.

Great job last night by the weeknight Cardinals as they defeated the Mets II by a score of 15-4. The pitchers did a great job of holding down the Mets, beginning with Kevin Ribitzki, followed by John Luciano, Mike Dittamo and finishing up with John Lindberg. The next weeknight game is Thursday April 9th against the Indians in Westwood.
