Williamsburg Christmas Parade
WHEN: Saturday December 5th -- Williamsburg Christmas Parade
WHERE: Downtown Colonial Williamsburg
CHECK-IN TIME: Parade Arrival / Set-Up: 8:00a ... we are SPOT #9 ... up front / 1st time ever
PARADE MARCH: 8:30a - 9:00a (est)
STARTING PLACE: We will probably be located near the intersection of Duke of Gloucester Street and S. Henry Street.
PARADE ROUTE: The parade route will go up Duke of Gloucester Street, turn left onto Richmond Rd, and then turn left onto Brooks Street where it will end in the parking lot of William & Mary Hall .. because we are in the front, the approximate end time for the Hornets will be at 9:00am.
PICK UP YOUR KIDS: You will need to be in the parking lot area of William & Mary Hall around 9:00a to pick up your kids, and marshal them home.
PLAYERS ATTIRE: Kids who march should wear jeans; Hornet Game Jersey as outermost layer of clothes ... bundle up underneath and for the undershirt sticking out ... shoot for GREEN / YELLOW but, RED / WHITE / BLACK is fine too ... solid is best. SANTA HATS: All should wear a Santa Hat ... $1 at Dollar General or Wal-Mart. Remember gloves and hats as well. You may want to take a bottle of water to drink as you walk.
COACH ATTIRE: Please wear Khacki pants with some Hornet emblazened outerwear. SANTA HATS: All should wear a Santa Hat ... $1 at Dollar General or Wal-Mart
CHEERLEADER ATTIRE: Wear your warm-ups as your outer-most layer wtih plenty of clothing underneath, gloves and sneakers so the cheerleaders can do cheers and stunts. Cheerleaders will receive elf ears the day of the event from their coachs.
FUTURE HORNETS: If there is a younger sibling of a player or cheerleader who would like to ride in the pickup truck bed, we will be able to take about 10-little ones to ride on the haybales. Santa Hats and some type of Hornet outerwear is perferred attire.
PARADE THEME: The theme for this year's parade is "Christmas Town" ... our lead vehicle will be a Red Vintage Pick-Up Truck with a large Christmas Tree in the bed, and hay bales for young future Hornets to ride on.
If possible, but it's not a requirement ... (not cheerleaders who will be performing though) Parade Marchers are encouraged to bring an unwrapped ($10 or so value) Christmas Gift to carry during the parade ... as if we have all our little Hornet Elves & Santa's Helpers carrying presents to go under our Christmas Town Tree.
Then at the end of the parade, these gifts will be collected and donated via James City County Police Officers for distribution to kids in the community at Christmas from the WYFCL.
PARADE RULES: The Greater Williamsburg Chamber & Tourism Alliance has a lit of rules for participaiting in the parade that we must follow.
1. Non participaint vehicles are not allowed on Duke of Gloucester Street
2. No distribution of any literature, or trinkets along parade route
3. No stopping along the parade route
4. Units must stay 5- to 10-feet behind the unit in front of them
5. If your unit stops to perform, they will be banned from future parades

Welcome to the Williamsburg Youth Football and Cheerleading League (WYFCL), home of the HORNETS!! Established in 1997, our league is in its 13th season in 2009. As a member of the Peninsula Youth Football Association (PYFA), we compete against the other leagues in our association. We have 7 football teams broken down into age divisions (6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-14), with a sideline cheerleading squad for each team.
Let's hear it for the GREEN and GOLD!
