Fall Baseball - Work Party - This Sat. - Sept. 4th!!
Small turnout this past Sat. (thanks to those who attended - we got a good bit accomplished). There is still work to do.....we will be up the Hagy's fields again this Sat. from 9:00 to noon getting the fields ready for the upcoming season. If anyone is available to stop up and lend a hand, it would be appreciated (If you have your own gas trimmer you could bring, that would also be helpful).

Fall Baseball - Registration Closed for Some Levels!! Senior Level Registration Continues!!!

Aug. 30th was the last day to register and be included in the lower level drafts!!! The draft has been held for the 7-13 year olds and teams broken down. Rosters will be posted shortly and the coaches will be contacting the players. There are very few spots remaining to fill (the 7-9 level is full). Unfortunately, due to the high number of requests, we were not able to honor all requests. If there was a "significant" request missed please contact the Commissioner.

Registration will remain open for the 10-11 and 12-13 levels, but, players will be put on a waiting list and may not get the chance to play if space it not available!!!!

Senior League players have until September 6th to register as their draft will be on Sept. 8th!!

Due to the extremely large turnout at the 10-11 year old level, we will not be allowing 9 year olds to play at that level this year. This was done in the past to "fill" the 10-11 level when the numbers were not there. This also brings us back in line with our league structure...all 7-9's will play either C or B level ball in the spring and should be playing together in the fall. Remember, league age is determined by your age as of this past May 1st.

We will keep a close eye on the 9 year olds and if there are any players that are "dominating" the 7-9's, the coaches will recommend that the player be moved up at that time. We apologize if this causes any issues, but, it is the only way to go right now....thanks.

Mattingly Baseball donates bats to Rebels!!!!
Mattingly Sports has donated two of the best bats in their line to the Rebels for use by the team in their upcoming practices and tournaments.

One of the bats . . . the BALISTK (pictured here) is their newest bat and not available to the general public until next month. The Rebels will be one of the first teams to get their hands on it.

Please join us in thanking Mattingly Baseball for their support and visit their website via this link:

CONGRATULATIONS KYLE KONOWAL ON MAKING THE USA BASEBALL TEAM!!!

Here is a picture of Kyle’s try out where he impressed them with his pitching. They repeatedly clocked his fast ball in the mid 70’s and were awed with the knuckle ball pitch he throws.

He pitched two innings striking out 4 giving up no Hits and No Runs.

Kyle was one of 18 players chosen from three invitation tryouts from PA, NY and Virginia to play on the USA North Atlantic Stars 13 yr old team of USA Baseball. This team consists of players that live from Maine to North Carolina.

The North Atlantic Stars tournaments this winter include traveling to Puerto Rico, twice to Florida and Las Vegas.

His first Tournament will be in Cary, North Carolina September 9 thru the 12th. This is where USA Baseball from other parts of the country meet, then after their weekend of play the USA committee will pick from those players to play on the USA National Olympic Team which will travel around the world.

Here is a link to USA Baseball if you are looking for more information:

2011 Cooperstown Team gets a name!
After the current Cooperstown Bandits return from this summer's tournament, the 21st Ward will discontinue the use of the Bandits name - it will then be exclusively used by the Roxborough Bandits.

During the month of May - we accepted over 40 submissions for a new team name.

    The top 3 choices were:

    Roxborough Rebels
    Roxborough Raiders
    Roxborough Hawks

After over a month of voting the choice was obvious!

    With over 67% of the votes the winner is . . . . .
