Falcons and Disney Team Up for Give A Day, Get A Disney Day!
"Give a Day. Get a Disney Day." is a program that celebrates and inspires volunteerism. Disney is working with HandsOn Network to bring you amazing volunteer opportunities to which you can lend your much-needed services. As a way of thanking you for your good work, we'll give you a free ticket good for one day admission to a Walt Disney World® or Disneyland® theme park.

We want to inspire one million people to volunteer a day of service to a participating organization in their communities. So we're celebrating these volunteers' good works by giving each of them a 1-day, 1-theme park ticket to the Disneyland® Resort or Walt Disney World® Resort, free. There's no better time to make a dream come true for others and let us make a few come true for you.

You must pre-register and sign up through this site to volunteer and complete your service. Ticket quantities for this program are limited. You must be at least 18 to sign up. You may only sign up a maximum of 8 members of your household. Children must be at least 6 to participate in the program. One ticket per person, regardless of the number of times you volunteer. Program begins January 1, 2010 and continues until tickets are distributed or until December 15, 2010, whichever occurs first. Your voucher for a free ticket must be redeemed by December 15, 2010, and used on the same day of redemption.

BREAKING NEWS

It
is with great sadness we inform you that we will be losing a member of the Falcon Family.  After 3 years with the Falcon Family, due to personal commitments, Coach Steven "Squeak" Brown will be leaving.

The hardest part of any friendship is when it's time to say goodbye. As much as we might like things to stay the same, change is an inevitable part of life. The universe may seem huge and the rift between friends on opposite side of the world may seem a great distance. There are many tools available with which we can communicate, but even without these tools there is a secret that only real friends know, and it is this. All the mountains and valleys in the world cannot separate friends whose hearts are as one.

Coach Steven Brown is an exceptional man and has a knack for connecting with his players, whether through pep talks or funny antics.  On any given day you could see him out running with his players, challenging them every step of the way.  His teams always had great respect for him, both on the field and off.  He tries to make sure that everyone knew they could count on him.  He has been an effective and dedicated leader and was always there to help parents, coaches, and most importantly our children of Moreno Valley and surrounding communities.

Equipment Cleaning/Inventory (POSTPONED)

The following pieces of equipment need to be returned: Practice shirt, practice and game pants, the 7 piece pad set, belt, helmet and shoulder pads.

The rotten smell often associated with sports equipment and clothing is caused by a combination of sweat, mucus, blood, dirt and other substances such as sports drinks that have soaked into the equipment.

This combination of proteins and organic matter provides an ideal breeding ground for the growth of odour-causing mould, fungus and bacteria. These are three contaminants that pose a direct health threat to players because they can enter the body through cuts or abrasions and cause serious infection. Bacterial and infectious diseases are becoming more resistant to antibiotics.  The Center for Disease Control noted a major increase in staph infections (MRSA) since the year 2000.  In August 2003, The Center for Disease Control issued a Health Bulletin to all schools and teams in the USA recommending that all teams routinely wash player’s equipment to prevent the spread of highly contagious bacterial diseases, such as MRSA.

We are asking for donations for the following items to clean the equipment; liquid soap, buckets, brushes, sponges, lots of towels, hoses with spray nozzles, bleach, and folding chairs.

If you are able to donate any of the above items, please contact Jerome Head, Equipment Manager at (951) 567-9122

Relay For Life

Valley View High School | Football Stadium
13135 Nason Street, Moreno Valley, CA 92555
Saturday, May 15, 2010 (9 a.m.) thru Sunday, May 16, 2010 (9 a.m.)

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps. Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.

Anyone can participate in Relay for Life. There is a $10.00  registration/commitment fee (per person) that is due upon registration. After that, anything you can raise through individual, team, or online fundraising is graciously accepted. It is recommended that each participant set a personal goal to raise $100.00. If you raise more, that's even better. Even if you can't raise $100.00, you are still welcome to participate.

Only students or children under 18, that raise $100 or more and attend a mandatory meeting (more details in the next few months) can stay the night. All others are welcome to stay until 10:00 pm. All children under 18, will be required to have a waiver form signed by a parent or guardian. All children will need to bring their ID to the event to receive a wristband. Wristbands will include the cell number of the chaperons.

All cancer survivors have their $10.00 registration fee waived.

Join the Team. You can register and get more information on the event at www.relayforlife.org/morenovalleyca. To register, go to the website, click on team list, and join the Moreno Valley Jr. All American Football & Cheer Team.

I hope to see everyone there!
