About Mound City Little League

History

Mound City Little League Inc., established in 1951, boasts the finest organized little league ballpark in Licking County, located in Newark. The state-of-the-art facility offers eight baseball and softball diamonds on-site, catering to instructional structured divisions for ages four to eighteen. Visitors can enjoy various amenities such as paved handicap and stroller-friendly walkways, covered seating areas, modern restroom facilities, concession stands, water fountains, a playground for kids, and ample parking space. The central fieldhouse is a focal point of the park with restroom facilities, director's office and concessions on the lower level. Additionally, an upper-level clubhouse features a wrap-around viewing deck offering panoramic views of the entire park.

Tournaments

The Licking County Shrine Tournament, hosted annually at Mound City Little League, is considered the premier tournament among youth baseball in the area. The goal of the "Shrine" tournament is to raise funds for Shriners Hospitals to support children unable to play baseball or softball due to medical conditions. All proceeds from this tournament are donated to the Licking County Shrine Club, which then provides the monies to multiple local Shriners Hospitals to aid patients with burns, spinal cord injuries, cleft lip and palate disorders, and orthopedic issues. The support of Mound City and participating Little League programs throughout Licking County is crucial to the success of this effort. Since its inception, the Licking County Shrine Club has maintained a $1 entry fee for the tournament that has never increased. Each year, volunteers from Mound City Little League and the Shrine Club work to ensure the experience leaves a lasting impression on participants, regardless of home league affiliation. Mound City Little League and the Licking County Shrine Club appreciate the continued community support for this tournament. The $1 entry donation goes a long way toward improving outcomes for patients and their families. We hope to welcome you to future Licking County Shrine tournaments.

Registration Fees? Not at Mound City. Not ever!

Mound City Little League was founded on the principle that all children should have the opportunity to participate in the great sports of baseball and softball, regardless of financial means. Since 1951, MCLL's governing documents have tasked the commission with identifying alternative sources of revenue to fund operations. As a non-profit, the commission has risen to the challenge each year through donations from local organizations in Licking County, fundraising events like bowl-a-thons, hosting outside tournaments, and tag days when permitted by COVID-19 protocols. While the costs of running baseball and softball programs including uniforms, umpire fees, and food have increased over decades, MCLL has continued to streamline organizational and operational expenses to maintain accessibility. Through 70 years of practice, costs remain managed in spite of rising expenses. We thank all donors for their generous support year after year in bettering the lives of Licking County's youth. We look forward to the start of another season this spring.

MCLL Mission Statement

The objective of Mound City Little League Inc. shall be to firmly implant in the youth of the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage, and reverence, so they may become finer, stronger and happier youth and will grow into good, moral, healthy citizens.

Important dates for the 2024 season.

Please note that all dates may be subject to alterations due to unexpected circumstances or scheduling conflicts. We will promptly update our website, Facebook, and Instagram, and also send out text notifications in case of any changes to the scheduled events. To stay informed about any modifications, weather-related cancellations, workdays or special events at the park, we highly recommend signing up for our text messaging alerts on our website's main page.

Online Registration is open now through March 9th.

The deadline is March 9th, so make sure to secure your child's spot quickly and easily by following the tutorial provided on our homepage. If any player wishes to play up a division, they should still register for their usual division first. Simply reach out to us via Facebook, email at opforpaintball@gmail. com, or by texting Kyle Harris at 740. 973. 7327 to process your request promptly. For players looking to return to the draft (such as Juniors, Farm, and Varsity), please re-register and indicate your preference on the registration form. There's an option specifically for indicating this desire to return. We're here to help make sure your registration process is seamless and efficient. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance!

After the registration period has ended, we will continue to accept registrations from interested players. However, individuals who register after the stated deadline cannot be guaranteed placement on a team. Each additional registrant will be added to a wait list on a first come, first served basis. Players on the wait list will then be assigned to a team only if a roster spot becomes available, such as through another player's withdrawal or injury. Placement according to the wait list order is not determined until all teams have been initially composed following the registration deadline. While late registrants have the opportunity to join the league if teams have vacancies, prioritizing those who enrolled beforehand allows for optimal team formation and planning within the scheduled season timeframe. Individuals are therefore encouraged to complete registration by the specified closing date to ensure consideration for team assignment during the initial draft process.

In-person registration February 3rd – March 3rd.

We will be conducting in-person registrations for all t-ball, softball, and baseball programs every Saturday and Sunday from February 3rd to March 3rd. These sessions will take place between 12:00pm and 2:00pm at Reese Hall. If you have any queries or need to discuss anything with a commissioner, whether related to registration or otherwise, these sessions provide an excellent opportunity. We are also open to discussions about coaching or umpiring during this period. Furthermore, any player wishing to move up a division can have their request processed during these in-person registration sessions.
