9/7/19 - CMAC DEVELOPMENTAL MEET @ ALPHA HART LEWIS ELEMENTARY IN COLUMBIA

 

Thanks for the wonderful environment today at our largest developmental meet ever.  Something I wasn't sure that would ever be said is "we may have outgrown this facility".  But to shoot the gun 5 times today due to huge start lines, and the zig zag course due to areas being allowed to grow up, maybe Beulah Ralph is the spot next year.  Anyway, the next thing that I want to do is thank EVERYONE that chose to volunteer today in any capacity.  The CMAC races belong to us all, and these are all our children.  We want them to be safe, have a great experience, and be treated respectfully and fairly.  That feels like it happened today.  The next 4 meets will be hosted by specific teams, and they should have their own volunteers.  BUT, if help seems to be needed, don't hesitate to step in to help them out.

 

It was such an AWESOME day for racing today!  Sunny and not too hot, but toasty.  The kids raced hard, and we are very excited to see how each one responds to the extra Kilometer next week in Paris.  The environment was wonderful thanks to the spectators.  With that said, we do want to remind everyone that running with athletes will get your young athlete disqualified if we notice it going forward.  Also, a couple of warnings were put out today to some young athletes about intentionally cutting off other athletes.  Please have a talk with the kiddos about looking straight forward and racing... not next to then and trying to cut others off.  If a disqualification feels needed, it will happen.

 

There were a few firsts today.  One would be having 6 scoring teams in a single age group.  The next would be having 5 separate races in one day.  Next would be the pure number of people that showed up.  We are happy to see the growth.   Finally, we've never had to pull a kiddo out of a race (little fella just didn't know) that jumped right in during near the finish.  The thought is that someone was sending him to the start line to get ready for his race, but got caught in the "current".  Personally, I laughed.

 

Paris will host our first of two ADULT / COACH 2K races this year.  ANY MONETARY DONATION will get you registered.  So yes, come get your XC on.  The money donated goes straight to the CMAC All-Stars' trip to nationals.  It will help pay for the team activities and shirt.  So, please do sign up and come get a taste of it.  The form and information will b out SUPER soon.

The Central Missouri Athletics Circuit or CMAC consists of cross country in the fall (August-November) and outdoor track and field starting in the spring (April-June).  This youth athletics circuit was developed to promote healthy activity & opportunities through running for boys and girls in Central Missouri ages 6-14.

 

We want to help YOUR town build and start up youth running clubs to compete in this unique program.  So, if you live within or just outside the green circle in our logo... WE WANT YOU to take part!  CMAC will host running events in Mid-Missouri for teams that join.  If your young athlete isn't on one of the CMAC teams but wants to participate in our meets, don't worry.  We allow unattached youth to run as well.
