Based on yesterday’s snow fall and an evaluation form the Isle of Wight Parks and Rec Administration they have closed 4 of the 8 fields used for this year’s KIFC event and the uncertainty of the fields being playable this weekend the difficult decision has been made to cancel the 2020 Kickin’ It For Cancer Soccer Tournament in its entirety. The safety of our players, coaches, and tournament participants is and will remain Smithfield Soccer Club’s number one priority now and in the future. There isn’t enough time for the already fields to dry out in enough time to have safe and playable fields this weekend and be usable all Spring. Please contact your associated hotels ASAP to cancel all rooms you have reserved for this weekend.

In closing the SSC Staff will be sending refund information in the next week. As discussed with the SSC President Bob Tucker all funds after minimal expenses this year will be returned to each paid entry fee. This is more than the KIFC rules mandated 50% refund. We value every team’s relationship we have created and want a great working relationship to remain intact in the future.
