Titans Win 9th Grade AAU National Championship

Cale Leads Diamond State Titans to AAU Title

 

 




6'3" point guard Myles Cale hit a three-point basket with 18 seconds to go to lead the Diamond State Titans (DE) to a come from behind victory over Baltimore's Finest to win the 9th grade boys basketball AAU title in Hampton, Virginia this past weekend.

Cale scored 15 points and Eric Ayala from Sanford School hit for 18 points as the Titans won 62-60 in the championship game. 6'4" Elias Revelle added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Delaware squad and 5'8" Kineph Turner from Howard (DE) High hit the clinching free throw to seal the victory.

Cale, from Appoquinimink High (DE), is the #2 rated player in Delaware in the class of 2017. He was a first team Flight A All-Conference selection this past 2013-2014 season. He also scored 28 points in the semifinal game as the Titans defeated Central Western (NY) 73-59. Revelle of Howard High (DE) chipped in with 16 points and Ayala hit for 12 points.

The Titans had a strong team which included the 6'2" Ayala, who is the #1 rated player in the class of 2017 in Delaware and is a National Top 50 player in his class. He averaged 9 rebounds per game in the tournament and is a scoring machine.

Revelle, who is the #9 ranked player in the class of 2017 in Delaware, is a great rebounder and shot blocker who helped the Titans win. He will be a very good player for Howard this winter.

The Titans were 7-0 in the tournament and were coached by Curtis Clack. Mr. Rod Griffin heads the Diamond State Titans (DE).

Titans Place Second at AAU Super Showcase

The Diamond State Titans boys' AAU basketball team showed it could compete with some of the nation's best 16- and 17-year-old teams last month in Orlando, Fla.
The Titans, based in Middletown, finished second in their division of the AAU 16-under Super Showcase, a 48-team event held July 20-23 at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex. They also competed in the 17-under Super Showcase, reaching the final eight in their division of the 64-team event held July 23-27.
In the 16-under event, the Titans lost to the Kappa Magic 91-77 in the championship game. Tracy Jones, a 6-foot-4 guard from Cape Henlopen High, led the Titans with 25 points. R.J. Griffin, a 6-4 guard from Charter School,added 14 points, and J.J. Dickey, a guard from Delcastle, had 13 points.In an 87-83 semifinal victory over the Kissimmee Wildcats, Jones scored 31 points, and Larry Webster, a 6-7 forward from Elkton, Md., added 12 points. Webster sustained an ankle injury in first quarter of the championship game.
The Titans finish their season with the Sonny Hill Future Stars Tournament, Aug. 16-20 in Philadelphia.

Nate Armstrong Scores 1500th Career Points

Nate Armstrong,6'1", point guard, Fairwinds Christian scored his 1,500th career point as he led Fairwinds to a 74-34 victory over Chestertown (Md.) Christian. Nate is one of the best shooters in the state of Delaware and is averaging 24 ppg,10 apg this year. He has the complete package to play Division I basketball. Nate's mentality to pass first and then shoot,makes this milestone truly remarkable. Again, all the ahtletes and families of the Diamond State Titans congratulate Nate on achieving the 1500 point milestone. Keep up the hard work! We're proud of you.

Congrats to the Diamond State Titans players on participating in the Elite75 Prep Showcase 2006 in Gastonia North Carolina. The Titans got the opportunity to compete against top nationally ranked players in each age division from across the nation. Numerous major scouting services were on hand to include Hoop Scoop,Generation Next,The Buckeye Report and many others to evaluate talent. The Diamond State players earned high praise for their performances at this talent laden event and had write ups in several major publications as Stars on The Rise for noteworthy performances. We are very proud of our players,their accomplishments and thank the parents for their support.
