    Space Coast 3 V 3 Challenge: Day 2 - LUNACHICKS DECLARED CHAMPIONS-
    Sunday 12-06-09

Semi-Final Game: LunaChicks vs. Force Blue

BeDazzler would be the first to score in the semi-final game make a run in for the goal. BeDazzler would also score goal 2. Scrappy Do was in for the assist pass to Mighty Mouse for the third. Scrappy Do proved her passing game was dead-on with a pass into Stealthy for score #4. BeDazzler set Stealthy up for goal 5, which she put it with a left-footer. BeDazzler also had the next scoring set-up with a pass to Scrappy Do for goal 6. BeDazzler to Raging Rapids for score 7 and half was called. First goal of the 2nd was the kind of goal everyone hates to see…touched by Force inside the goalbox to give us the penalty score. Stealthy had goal 9. Mighty Mouse claimed goal #10. Force then was able to get 2 in on us bringing score to 10-2. Stealthy set up the next pass to Raging Rapids who sent it into the net for score #11. Stealthy made the last goal of the game on a run in from anchor position to finish the game 12-2.

Championship Match : LunaChicks vs. Angels

Angels were able to put together some great plays to defeat the Cheetah and advance to the final game against the LunaChicks. BeDazzler’s pass to Raging Rapids was the first score of the game. Scrappy Do then shot a goal from half-field that hit the net but unfortunately wasn’t counted. Spunky (playing on the Angels side) score against the Luna to make the game a tie Scrappy Do had the next shot that ricocheted off the goal post for Mighty Mouse to tap in for score 2. BeDazzler took the next shot for close to half field to make the score 3-1. Spunky shot in a 2nd goal for the Angels to make the score a close 3-2. Raging Rapids was the final score of the game to make LunaChicks the Champions with a 4-2 winning match.

    Space Coast 3 v 3 Tournament : Day 1
    Space Coast 3 V 3 Tournament ~Saturday Play~

It was a rainy, cold, yucky day for the start of the tournament. Luna was there, ready to slosh with the best of ‘em.

Game 1: LunaChicks Defeat Force Blue

Goal 1 came on a pass from Mighty Mouse to Raging Rapids and set the tone for the game. Raging Rapids returned the "favor" sending Mighty Mouse the ball for score 2. Score 3 came on an awesome dribble in from Raging Rapids. Halftime was 3-0. By this time the girls were starting to see that the ball didn’t roll like normal, but rather splashed down and stayed put. 3 goal attempts landed inside the goal box but did not roll into the desired resting place. Stealthy sent Scrappy Do the ball for goal 4 of the game. Mighty Mouse was the assist to Stealthy for score 5. Time was called. Final 5-0

    Game 2: LunaChicks Defeat Angels

LunaChicks knew the 2nd game of the day would be tougher because a fellow full-sided LunaChick was now an opponent along with many other awesome Luna-friends. Raging Rapids again scored the first goal of the game to get Luna momentum going. Stealthy would claim goal 2 after some great passing around with BeDazzler & Mighty Mouse. Halftime score: 2-0. Raging Rapids scored first in 2nd quarter bringing the score up 3-0. Angel Jessica answered with a score of her own, putting the pressure back into the game. Mighty Mouse set up a sideline kick-in to BeDazzler who chipped the ball up and into the goal for score 4. Mighty Mouse scored goal 5. Raging Rapids then made a half field goal and game was over 6-1.

    Game 3: LunaChicks Defeat Cheetahs

When the Cheetahs took the field, we knew their coach put Miracle-Gro in their Gatorades and that the game was on. Luna was definitely out-heighted by girls, but as they know it takes skill to win - not height. Raging Rapids would not break her pattern of being first to score, and took the first shot of the game to give Luna the lead 1-0. Raging Rapids also scored goal 2 off a beautiful assist pass from BeDazzler. BeDazzler then sent one over Scrappy Do’s way and she also found the net. BeDazzler got the next clean shot at the goal with a nice breakaway run. Score was 4-0 when Cheetah’s woke up. They put 2 in on LunaChicks before halftime was called. Immediately after halftime they worked hard and brought the score up to a tie ballgame. Luna knew they had to kick it up into a higher gear to walk away winners on this one. BeDazzler sent a pass to Raging Rapids that broke the tie in Luna favor 5-4. BeDazzler was the assist on the next goal, scored by Mighty Mouse. BeDazzler then took a well aimed shot from midfield and sunk goal 7 for a game ending score of 7-4.

LunaChicks finished top of their bracket for Saturday’s play and automatically advanced past quarters into semifinals.

    Way to go girls!!!

Final Game of Fall: LunaChicks Defeat Fury 9-0
For the final game of the season, Palm Bay Fury came to COL to take on the LunaChicks. Their team had 6 girls make the drive so they all had to put it a lot of effort playing the entire game.

The game had a slight delay due to a missing ref. Luckily the Wizard had big bro there willing to step in so the game could get going. First score of the game went to Mighty Mouse when she took a pass from BeDazzler and dribbled it up for the shot. Wheaties was next to score in the first quarter when she intercepted their goal kick and ran it in for the goal. Mighty Mouse scored goal 3 off a nutmeg on the goalie that ran through her fingers. Spunky passed to Wheaties for the setup that made Goal 4. First quarter ended on 4-0.

2nd quarter brought the beginning of the "mix-up" where many girls rotated into positions that they don’t usually play. Mighty Mouse donned the goalie jersey, Stealthy & Wheaties took the role of defenders, while Flying Fox took the center forward role with Spunky & the Wizard on wings. Mighty Mouse got her hands on the ball twice and all Luna-fans cheered for our "new goalie." Spunky sent a great pass to Flying Fox for the only score of the 2nd quarter. The Wizard had a great shot that unfortunately was in field goal range rather than finding the net. Halftime score was 5-0.

Back into the blender went the LunaChicks - new positions were chosen for the 3rd. Spunky was in the goalbox -and had a great punt across the field. BeDazzler and Mighty Mouse were in defense. Forwards were the Rock, Scrappy Do, & Raging Rapids. The Rock scored off her corner kick when the goalie couldn’t keep control of the ball. Scrappy Do had the next shot that she dribbled up and in. The Rock set up a pass to Raging Rapids for score 8.

Fourth quarter found The Rock & Scrappy Do each taking a turn in goal. Stealthy & Spunky were in for defense. Flying Fox, The Wizard, & Wheaties were up front. The Wizard was able to get a great shot off for the final score of the game.

Final for Fall: LunaChicks make a clean sweep of the scoreboard in U10 girls winning all 10 games!

Next Up: LunaChicks look forward to spring and will change divisions so that they can play at an increased competitive level. Watch out boys - the LunaChicks are up for the challenge!

Game 9: LunaChicks Defeat Sebastian 4-1
LunaChicks made the drive down south to play Sebastian on their home field. It was a nice day with a bit of a breeze.

Sebastian came out strong out of the gate - but Luna were able to keep them from having the first score of the game. A handball penalty set Sebastian up for another shot on goal but the Wizard was there for the block.

Scrappy Do set up a nice pass from wing to middle. BeDazzler capitalized and made the first score of the game. Stealthy was there for the next strong assist to middle to set BeDazzler up for goal 2. At then end of the first, score was 2-0.

Sebastian was working hard to attempt to come back, but the Wizard was shutting down their attempts on goal. Raging Rapids, The Rock, & Flying Fox were all in on strong defensive plays that led to no score in the 2nd quarter.

The third quarter brought a goal from each team. Wheaties was the wing that set up the 3rd goal of the day for BeDazzler. Sebastian was able to sneak a goal in. 3rd quarter also brought a good run from Raging Rapids to bring it up into shot range as well as some awesome tackles from Flying Fox.

3rd ended on a score of 3-1. Fourth quarter brought the final score of the game by none other than ~BeDazzler~ who dribbled the ball through the middle into easy shot range.

The game also brought some great plays from Mighty Mouse working the ball up the wing against "Miracle Gro" opposition. Spunky was working hard on offense and defense when she took her turn as center. We also saw goal attempts that would have made great field goals (Wheaties) as well as a narrow miss (Spunky’s setup to Stealthy that went just outside of far post) among other attempts on goal that were blocked.

Next up: LunaChicks Take on Fury at COL for the final game of fall.
    Pics added to photobucket.

Game 8: LunaChicks defeat Tsunami 8-1
Luna made the drive for 11:30 game in Melbourne Beach at Gemini Elementary. The day was pleasant but windy.

The first score of the game goes to BeDazzler off an assist pass from Raging Rapids. Mighty Mouse was up on left wing aiding in keeping the ball in luna-motion. Stealthy was next in line to score off an assist from BeDazzler. A few offside calls broke momentum temporarily until BeDazzler intercepted their penalty kick and ran it in for goal 3. Quarter ended with 3-0 on the scoreboard.

Quarter 2 proved how valuable mistakes are when Tsunami capitalized and put in a goal. LunaChicks were determined to not allow another bumble goal. Half-time score was 3-1.

Quarter 3 found BeDazzler, Stealthy, and Wheaties on the attack. BeDazzler sent a pass to Stealthy on wing, who took the shot. It came back at her off the goalie and she tapped it in for the rebound goal. Wheaties, BeDazzler, & Stealthy were next up working together on a multi-pass play that ended with Stealthy finding the goal to score a hat-trick! The next forward attack found Spunky getting a shot off that spat back out off the goalie. Scrappy-Do was there to send it right back in for goal 6.

Quarter 4 got the Wizard out of the goalbox and into left wing. Wheaties once again became the Wall to make sure the goal would stay closed to scoring. LunaChicks were working hard to set up plays that would allow their usual goalie to make a score from her forward position. On one of her first passes she had an almost goal and her teammates knew she had to get another shot at it. Score 7 was an assist from Stealthy to Scrappy Do that she sent in for her second goal of the game. Goal 8 was a perfect assist from Spunky out to the Wizard who got her score!

Raging Rapids, Flying Fox & the Rock all did their part to make sure Tsunami would not have another shot on goal. Raging Rapids had a goal attempt from half-field that the sidelines thought would be another score but it wasn’t meant to be.

Final Score:8-1 Next Up: Luna plays Sebastian down south. Photobucket pics of Game 8 added.

Game 7: LunaChick offense turns on the heat defeating Space Coast United 11-1.
LunaChicks had to play another hot and steamy day for their Halloween game. SCU made the drive north to play at Chain of Lakes.

The first score of the game was on a corner kick. Scrappy Do put the ball in the air to drop right in front of BeDazzler who sent it to the net. SCU came back strong, with their forward Jessica being the only one this season to put a score in on the Luna defense.

LunaChicks were not happy about letting a score in and would allow no more during the game with the defense limiting SCU shots. The few that made it into the Wizard’s zone were easily trapped by her and sent back out.

The second goal of the game came on a pass from Mighty Mouse to BeDazzler. Third goal was a pass from the Rock to Spunky. Spunky went for 2 in a row to score the 4th goal when Wheaties sent the ball to the middle, and BeDazzler sent it out to left wing. The girls were really showing just what teamwork means today! Stealthy was next to set up a pass to the middle for BeDazzler to score #5. Spunky had the next assist, sending it across the Stealthy to score goal 6. Scrappy Do had the ball touch to allow Raging Rapids to score #7 off a penalty kick. Goal 7 was shot by Stealthy with Mighty Mouse there to ensure that it crossed the line. Spunky takes credit for a top corner shot for goal 9. Wheaties was in for the assist to BeDazzler for the 10th. A repeat of Wheaties to BeDazzler ended the scoring rampage and the game at 11-1.

During all this scoring, defense was also on fire. Flying Fox showed yet again how tough she is. Raging Rapids was there with her big kick and high accuracy that kept switching up the field. The Rock had steals as well as runs where she brought the ball up the field to allow the offense to set up into scoring positions.

So while Lunachicks’ streak of shutout games was broken today, they can brag that this was their highest scoring game of the season. Couple new pics on photobucket - good one of Raging Rapids scoring on penalty.

Next up: Luna hits the road to play Tsunami at their home field.

Game 6: LunaChicks defeat Sebastian 2-0 for their 6th shutout of the season
October 24th was a hot afternoon game. Sebastian United made the long drive up to Chain of Lakes to take on the undefeated LunaChicks.

LunaChicks would call this the game of "should of’s" as the girls had a great many close shots on goal that just didn’t go (shots that went over the top bar or bounced off a side post or went slightly wide…)

Wheaties did have her aim dead on and delivered both scores of the game. The first was from a punt from the Wizard that sent the ball bouncing in front of the right wing position. Wheaties received the punt and sent it straight into the back of the net. The second goal Wheaties worked her way up for the open shot and sent it across from wing position to score. Way to play!

Defense was on their game as well. Wizard was there to scoop up a few shots on goal. Raging Rapids and the Rock played their usual dynamic duo style - but Flying Fox is making herself known on the scene proving that the defensive line has a strong trio to choose from.

Stealthy had at least 3 shots on goal, but fell victim to overshots or ‘pole’ defense. BeDazzler played a strong middle- making tackles and setting up shots for the wings. Spunky, Mighty Mouse, and Scrappy Do all had some good moves, runs, and shots- but no luck with the goal.

Final was 2-0. LunaChicks will see this team again in November. Check for a few new pics on photobucket.

Game 5: 5th Shutout for Lunachicks as they defeat Cyclones032 9-0.
Fall weather had finally arrived for game 5 of season play. All LunaChicks were present and ready to play. The game was assigned a head referee as well as line guards so the sidelines got what they expected up at TSC - a well reffed game.

Wheaties proved that cereal isn’t just for breakfast when she scored immediately after the kickoff. Wizard was having nothing of it when Cyclones tried to answer with a shot of their own. Bedazzler and Stealthy came on with the next attack with center setting it up for her wing. Stealthy’s shot was a power ball in the air that found the top corner pocket of the net. A repeat of the same play happened moments later, but an offside call made the ball dead so the score didn’t count the second go round. BeDazzler was also taking shots of her own, and she gets the credit for score 3.

Wheaties was still pouring the pressure on and taking shots- she takes away the honor of being the first and last score of the game. Spunky came in aggressive and walked away from the game as top scorer, pulling off a hat trick! Spunky scored on goal 5 off a great assist from Scrappy Do, as well as claiming goals 7 & 8. Scrappy Do took a fabulous settled centered shot to make goal 4 happen. Mighty Mouse was in on the action as well, scoring goal 6 off a pass from Scrappy Do.

The offensive line couldn’t have run the score up without their solid defense that provided yet another shutout game. Raging Rapids was solid as always and even got off a few shots from the backfield -too bad there aren’t extra points for ‘field goals.’ :) Flying Fox played a great game as well, attacking the ball and stopping the Cyclones in their tracks. She had some time in offensive play as well, and did a great job shielding the ball and keeping possession.

Thinking of defensive dead stops, we have to mention the Rock who had the best tackle of the game. The Cyclones were on the offense running the ball full force down the field. The Rock got right in their way and put the ball at a dead stop. This left the Cyclones still running for the goal, taking a second to realize they didn’t have the ball anymore - while the Rock was passing it up the field to a fellow Luna.

The Wizard got to stop a few shots but most of the game she was able to be a spectator and cheer on her friends. She definitely deserves a Luna spirit award. In warm-ups she always cracks the parents up by her great attitude ‘thanking the players for passing the ball’ to her as they shoot on her and she catches them.

Final score of the game was 9-0. New pics on photobucket link.

LunaChicks:U10 National Champions at Brevard Fall Challenge

A sweltering hot Columbus Day weekend at Palm Bay Regional Park set the stage for the BYSL Brevard Fall Challenge. The U10 girls had enough teams in play to create American, Continental, & National divisions. LunaChicks would like to congratulate the Tsunami Strikers for their American win as well as the SCU Storm99 for their Continental Win. Way to go girls!

The path to winning the elite National Championship was hard fought by the LunaChicks. The first game was a matchup against First Coast Academy White. The defense of the Wizard, the Rock, Flying Fox, & Raging Rapids did their job, keeping it a shutout game. BeDazzler was in perfect sync with Mighty Mouse setting her up for 2 shots on goal from wing that both found the net. Lunachicks won the matchup 2-0.

The second game put LunaChicks up against SCU Storm99. The first quarter was scoreless but it would not stay that way. BeDazzler would be the first to score on a penalty kick that put her at close range. BeDazzler sunk the 2nd goal as well in the third quarter. Stealthy set up for a shot on goal that deflected off the SCU defender for goal 3. The ball kept rolling as the fourth quarter started with Bedazzler sending the ball to the wing for a shot from Spunky that would find the lower corner pocket for goal 4. The Rock sent the ball to BeDazzler for goal 5. Final score 5-0.

Two shutout wins ensured that the LunaChicks would advance into the national semi-finals. Sunday morning the girls watched the sun rise over the concession stand and glare right into the parents’ eyes just in time for kickoff. First Coast Academy Blue took the lead first, scoring on a penalty kick. BeDazzler answered back with a goal to tie the game at the half 1 to 1. The Rock & Raging Rapids, with assistance from BeDazzler and Scrappy Do, were determined to not let First Coast get any additional strong shots on goal. Wheaties, Spunky, Mighty Mouse, & Stealthy kept trying to get something to go with great passes and setups. All out of bounds calls seemed to favor the other team, but Luna could be counted on to reclaim possession. The second goal for Luna came when a First Coast defender tried to block a shot that then jumped backwards into the goal. The whistle blew on a 2-1 score that advanced the LunaChicks to the finals.

CBS Cyclones would claim the other spot with an outstanding showing in their qualifying games. Brevard County should be proud to have two of their own duking it out for the championship. BeDazzler & Mighty Mouse were tuned into Lunafrequency once again as #2 set #25 up for the first score of the game. Stealthy had a strong shot that didn’t go proving that LunaChicks weren’t going to let up. Wheaties had some fantastic runs and tackles on wing. The Wizard of 0’s was scooping up the slow shots and a key block to keep the Lunachicks in the lead. Scrappy Do was playing strong in wing and in center making some awesome steals. The fourth quarter brought a score from CBS to tie it up. The Wizard got her wish when a tie final score led to penalty kicks. Up first was a score from Scrappy Do. The Cyclones answered back. Mighty Mouse’s shot went wide. CBS was back up for the attempt but it was a no go thanks to the Wizard’s smackdown. BeDazzler scored on her pk, putting the pressure back on CBS. They answered with another goal to keep it tied. Raging Rapids was up next, determined to find the net. It sailed right in for goal 3. The Wizard made the key block on the next shot to put TSC up 3 to 2 with only 1 shot attempt left. The Rock stepped up as the LunaFolks all held their breath knowing that a goal would seal the victory as CBS could only hope to tie with a miss. The Rock delivered the goal and the victory! LunaChicks were declared Champions for the second time at a full-sided tournament!

LunaChicks Rattle Off Their Fourth Straight Shutout Win Defeating CBS Cyclones 2-0
On October 3rd, LunaChicks went head to head with the only other undefeated team in their Brevard Division at Mitchell Ellington Park. The CBS Cyclones hosted Luna’s 4th game of the season, which would prove to be a low scoring defensive battle.

Cyclones had the first strong attempt on goal, but the Wizard poured on her charm and made the save. The Rock and Raging Rapids would not allow a repeat from the Cyclone’s offense. BeDazzler, Mighty Mouse, & Scrappy Do had great ball movement in the first quarter, but no shots would go. Waterbreak was called with a tie game. Second quarter brought Spunky, Stealthy, Wheaties, & Flying Fox a chance to play as well. Spunky was on right wing when she sent the ball to mid field. The Cyclone’s goalie and BeDazzler both went for the ball arriving face to face with one another. BeDazzler was able to sneak it right through the goalie’s legs for the first score of the game.

Cyclones answered back with a high shot to the goal. The Wizard of 0’s went into full extension mode, proving that side to side and top to bottom- nothing gets by on her watch. She batted it down in front of her and quickly took possession.

At the half, score was LunaChicks 1, Cyclones 0. The second half would prove that defense was key for both teams. Both sides never let up the pressure. Stealthy was strong on right wing winning tackles and moving the ball down the field.

BeDazzler was able to zig zag and weave herself into an open shot position on right side of the goal. She put so much steam on the ball that it was hitting the net as soon as it left her foot.

Wheaties used her height to her advantage making it difficult for the Cyclones defense to get a foot on the ball. Wheaties created openings for a few shots on goal, as did Spunky on right wing. Within minutes, Spunky had taken 3 shots on goal. The Cyclones Defense along with luck of the game didn’t allow for any of those shots to convert to scores this time around.

The Rock, Raging Rapids, & Flying Fox were instrumental in shutting down the Cyclones offense. A penalty late in the game, gave the Cyclones best opportunity to score in the second half. Luna set up in defensive mode making sure the Wizard had an open view. The shot was dead straight to the goal and the Wizard honed in and made the catch.

The whistle blew and cheers erupted. LunaChicks had won their 4th straight by shutout and claimed the honor of being the only undefeated team left in Brevard County U10 girls standings.

3 in a Row: Lunachicks Defeat Fusion 4-0
For their third consecutive game, LunaChicks delivered a shutout victory. Fusion hosted the early game at their home field of Southwest Park.

LunaChicks started the game strong with a front line of Be-Dazzler, Mighty Mouse, & Scrappy Do. Some great passing teamwork set Be-Dazzler up to power the first goal home.

A penalty against Fusion moved Raging Rapids up from the defensive position to boot the shot that scored a second goal for Luna.

Spunky and Wheaties also came in strong on wings in the first half. Spunky sent a perfect drop pass to Raging Rapids who found the net for her second shot in a row. This put the LunaChicks at a dominating 3-0 lead.

Seconds before the whistle blew for halftime, the Rock went a'rolling down the center of the field to drill in the fourth goal. The scoreboard sat at 4-0.

The second half brought the Wizard of 0's out of the goalbox to play forward where she was able to make some great offensive runs and blocks. Wheaties turned back into the Wall and was able to defend Luna's trend of "no goals allowed" with an awesome block against a corner kick shot as well as several catches. Stealthy had some good tackles, runs, and attempts on goal in the second half. Flying Fox put the pressure on, gaining several throw-ins that she sent down the line.

No goals would go in the second half; the game ended 4-0. (Few new pics on photobucket link on right menu)

Game 2: LunaChicks Defeat Tsunami 7-0
Game 2 brought all Luna's out to the field ready to play. The defensive team including The Wizard of 0's, The Rock, Flying Fox, and Raging Rapids had a perfect shutout game, making it 2 weeks in a row! Offense did their job as well, finding the net 7 times. Goals scored included shots from Be-Dazzler, Stealthy, Mighty Mouse, & Spunky. Wheaties had some great plays and assists that kept the ball in offensive play. Scrappy Do proved how fierce she is by shaking off a direct hit in the face and staying in the game! The fall season is off to a great start!

Game 1: LunaChicks Defeat Space Coast United 5-0
The first game of the season had the LunaChicks on the road visiting beautiful Viera Regional Park.

Space Coast United is known for being serious about soccer so Luna knew they had to show up with their game faces on.

When the LunaChicks took the field, it was evident immediately that the girls were working as one unit, a true team! Offense was setting up the ball for shots on goal. Defense was keeping it out of the danger zone and sending it right back into offensive play. Luna Defenders proved that nothing was getting past them, playing a perfect shut-out! Luna Offense had many shots on goal and landed 5 of them on the scoreboard spreading it around with who scored the goals.

LunaChicks started the season strong and are looking for it to continue all season!

LunaChicks finish 2nd at Labor Day Challenge (Sept. 7th) -
LunaChicks are very proud that they made it to the final game by winning the semifinal game in "overtime" penalty kicks against a team that always has bested them in previous full sided play, the Ormond Beach Waves.
The final game was against The Wellington Wave and they once again proved why they are number 1 in the state. LunaChicks kept the game close and will now be gunning for a rematch.

LunaChicks Win the Hurricane Classic (Aug. 22nd) -
Though a rain delay forced finals to be postponed, this did not deter the Lunachicks at all in their quest for their first full sided tournament win! The Fear proved to be more than a worthy opponents with the whistle blowing on a tie game when time ran out. The girls then set up for penalty kicks. Kicking for the LunaChicks were Scrappy Do, Mighty Mouse, Raging Rapids, Silver Shoes & The Rock. Protecting the Lunagoal was the Wizard of 0's. The offensive scoring and the Wizard's protection launched the girls way right into the #1 slot!!! Predictions are that this first full sided championship win will pave the way for good things to come!
