CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2009 CHAMPIONS!
While the weather wasn't ideal on Sunday, October 25th, it was a nice day for some football championships. A season that began almost 2 months earlier was down to 3 games and 6 teams. In the first game of the afternoon for the 4th/5th grade Champion, the Caldecott & Forro team continued their domination of the league and rolled to a 35-0 win over Taymark.
The 2nd game of the afternoon was for the 6th grade Championship with two evenly matched teams and went to overtime. RJ Denn was on offense to start the overtime but could not score. Roanie's took their turn on offense and scored on their final attempt for a hard fought 6-0 OT victory.
With the 7th grade Championship on the line, it was another thriller that went down to the final seconds. Domino's Pizza and Pizza Man went back & forth for almost the entire game. Then, with 13 seconds left in the game, Domino's broke the deadlock and held on for a 8-0 win.
Our 3 Champions combined for a 23-0-2 record this year - WELL DONE!
The Board of Directors for WBYF would like to thank all of the players, parents, coaches, officials and fans for making this another fun year. We hope that the players not only had fun, but also learned something along the way. For the players that are moving on next year, we hope you will look back fondly on your time with us. For the players that are returning next year, we look forward to seeing you at sign-ups in July.
