The Reds players and coaches are pleased to welcome Matt Betz to the club. Matt played for the Wayne Warriors in 2007 and brings his catching gear and a fielders glove (3B and OF) with him.

The season opens up on Sunday March 30th. Due to our participation in the Central Jersey Spring Blast we may have to re-schedule the season opener. The results of our play in the tournament will dictate our play for the day. Please keep your schedule open.

All games will be played at the GEICK Park Complex which is a turf field. Directions will be forthcoming via email. Please remember to wear rubber cleats or turf shoes. However, please bring your metal cleats in case our games are moved to a different site. Players should report to the field complex 45 minutes before game time.

Sunday Scrimmage vs. Garden State Knights

Coach Mike Elkow will be bringing his 14U Garden State Knights up to Bergen County for a Sunday March 16, 2008 2:30PM scrimmage. The Knights are a very solid team and their players come from West New York, Marlboro and other NJ towns. Players should arrive at approx. 30 minutes before game time and should be in baseball scrimmage gear (including baseball pants). Coach Lembo will send out directions and other information very soon! Rob Shirak of North Haledon has been added to the Reds roster. Rob will give the Reds three lefty pitchers for Coach Joe Clemente to send to the mound joining Austin and Matt. In addition, Rob will play 1B and the outfield. Shirak played his 2007 summer baseball with both the Jersey Bulldogs BLUE Cerbo Championship summer team and the North Haledon Reds, the New Jersey AABC state tournament semi-finalists.
Uniform Stuff

Our uniforms have been ordered and for planning purposes we will be wearing a vest style jersey. The team color under the vest will be red. Player choice of style, long sleeve , short sleeve, mock turtleneck for early spring. Please try to stay with UnderArmour brand product. As long as it is red. Belts are to be black and socks are to be red. Please do not purchase red socks with logos on them unless you wear your pant legs down. Just want to have a "uniform look". Player cleats are again player choice of style and color.
Reimer Signs with Reds
February 24, 2008
Billy Reimer of Oradell has been added to the Reds roster. Billy will see time in the middle of the infield and in other positions that Coach Clemente will need him. A speedy runner with a high baseball IQ, Reimer posses a good glove and strong arm. Reimer played for the Jersey Bulldogs BLUE during the Spring in 2007.

Sunday's Workout
February 11, 2008
This past Sunday was by all accounts a great workout. Coach Clemente worked the players in speed/strength drills, terrific infield work including fielding tennis balls at 100 mph. Pitchers threw off the mound and the players hit in the cages. Overall 2.5 hours of hard work!

Uniform Sizing This Sunday
February 5, 2008
2008 uniform samples will be available for sizing this Sunday after the workout. Please be sure to contact Rich Coiro 201-819-5181 if you will not be attending the workout so that proper sizes can be ordered for you. The uniform order must be placed by Friday February 15, 2008 to ensure on time delivery for the start of the season. Please be sure to bring your first player fee installment on Sunday.

2008 Central Jersey Spring Blast

The club has registered for the 2008 Central Jersey Spring Blast to be played in Old Bridge on March 28-30, 2008 (Friday-Sunday). There is a 3 game guarantee and the 14U division will host 6 teams. The teams currently registered are:

5. North Jersey Reds

This promises to be a strong field of contenders for sure. We do not intend on using hotels as Old Bridge is approx. 45 minutes from Bergen County.
2008 Player Costs and Payments
January 28, 2008
Fee estimates for the spring and summer seasons will approx. $850 per player. This includes an 18 game spring season (wood bat and metal bat leagues), 2 tournaments, insurance, baseballs, umpire fees, 12-16 game summer season, 6-7 additional indoor training sessions and a pro-style uniform. In order to secure league and tournament "spots", purchase insurance, order equipment and uniforms, we are requesting an installment payment of $400 per player. Additional payments will be required on or about April 1, 2008 of $250 per player and $200 per player on or about June 1, 2008.
As additional spring or summer tournaments become available, we will "split" these costs among the active players attending the tournament.
Fall 2008 is anticipated to be $225 per player as we will have uniforms and insurance in place. Fall costs will be for a league play, scrimmage play and one tournament, baseballs and umpire fees.
The following was used in developing the 2008 spring/summer fee estimate;

3. Uniform Costs $150
4. Indoor Training $125
5. Baseballs, Insurance, Supplies $125
All amounts are our best estimates at this time.

14U North Jersey Reds-Gettin' Ready
January 23, 2008
On Monday January 21, 2008 the 14U North Jersey Reds under the baseball supervision of Manager Joe Clemente had its ' first workout of the 2008 campaign. The workout was held at Manager Clemente's new baseball facility located in Chestnut Ridge, NY called THE STADIUM; Clemente's Baseball & Softball Academy. The team plans include both tournament play and league play for Spring/Summer/Fall. Tournaments and leagues are currenty under evaluation by the teams administration. The player roster, while not yet finalized include some very talented players from towns like North Haledon, Allendale, Oradell, Parsippany, Wanaque and Franklin Lakes. The team will be comprised of 8th grade players all of which plan on playing high school baseball. Players ages will be a mix of 13's and 14's. Several of the 13's played for the Jersey Bulldogs BLUE team in 2007 and several players have been working directly with Manager Clemente over the past several years. "This team will win its' fair share of baseball games but our goals for the team and its' players center on development and being ready for March 2009, when high school baseball tryouts begin." said the teams coaching staff.
