Frequently asked registration questions:

1) What does YYSA mean by “Foothills”?

Generally speaking, we refer to all incorporated and unincorporated areas East of Avenue 3E in Yuma as “Foothills”

2) Is there team placement in the Foothills area and what does “Practice in the 3E/Foothills area preferred” mean?

On the player registration form there is a section that asks if player placement on a Foothills team is “Preferred”. This means one PREFERS to practice in the Foothills area, if there is a team created in that requested area. Team creation in this area is strictly based off of volume of requests, for that area in any given age group. There is NO GUARANTEE!

3) Are there “GIRL ONLY” teams?

All team creations are based off of volume of player registrations in any age group. If there are NOT enough girls in any one age group to create at least four separate teams, girls will be equally distributed amongst the boys and added to those teams.

4) When and where will my child practice?

Practice dates, times and location are at the discretion of your child’s VOLUNTEER coach. This is one of the HUGE benefits of coaching your own child; you work soccer practice around YOUR family schedule!

5) I would like to have my child be on the same team as their friend/neighbor/ cousin to make it easier to transport to practice, how do I go about this?

The ONLY way to ensure players are on the same team is to have your child “Buddied” with another (minding the Buddy rules). *TRANSPORTATION CAN NOT AND WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED WHEN PLACING PLAYERS ON TEAMS*

6) When will games be played and when will we get the game schedule?

Historically all age divisions U6 and below have been on Saturdays ONLY. All other age divisions play a mix of weekday evenings and Saturdays. Game schedules will be issued to your VOLNTEER Coach sometime in late December for distribution to parents. Schedule will be for entire season, with the exception of divisions U12 and above (as they will have play-offs and All-star games)

7) What is included in my registration fee?

Each player registration fee includes:  game jersey, shorts and socks; picture package, age appropriate ball, individual/team picture package, referee fees and required fees,.

8) How much do the Board members and coaching staff get paid each season?

 YYSA Board of Directors and Coaching staff are 100% volunteers.  Freely giving of their time without any expectation of anything in return.  The only YYSA affiliated people that get paid are the Referees and the Referee Assignor.

9) Can I register an entire team (bring in own team to compete)?

No, one CAN register an entire team.  YYSA is a recreational league only.  Returning Coaching staff are eligible to “Pick” up to two  registered players.  Should a Coach bring in their own sponsor, the team is eligible for an additional pick.  Should a Coach possess higher learning credentialing such as US Youth Soccer Association  Grassroots, and or Grade E, or higher certification they are eligible for an additional pick (U12 Division and older).

10)  If a few players on a team are busy with other activities, can a game be rescheduled, if the other team agrees?

Although this may seem like a simple request, it is not.  YYSA only has access to field from January-early March of any given year, as other sports and activities use the same fields.
