Another SW York Win in End of Season Tour July 22, 2009

Using wooden bats for the first time this season, SW York used six hits, two Muhlenberg errors and several base steals to win. Colin Porter had three hits. Pitchers Kurt Seiders and and Matt Hockenberry combined to limit Muhlenberg to one run and one hit while striking out ten.
S.W. York Players Shine in League All-Star Game July 19, 2009
The annual league All-Star game was played in Sovereign Bank Stadium in York on Sunday, July 19. The teams were divided based on the regular season league finish -
Odd Seeds(Spring Grove, Red Lion, New Oxford, Hanover, Bermudian, Biglerville, Dover, Glen Rock, Littlestown) Even Seeds(SW York, Northeastern, Shiloh, Wrightsville, Pleasureville, Dallastown, York, Stewartstown)
Representing the SW York program was Mike Resetar - Manager of the Even Squad, Cavan O'Reilly, Matt Hockenberry, Colin Porter and Kurt Seiders. The game ended with an "Even Seed" victory by a score of 13-5.
Colin Porter had the biggest day as he drove in 3 runs by going 3-6, including a single, double and triple. In his last (3) at bats, Colin was trying for the Cycle but unfortunately was not able to launch one out of the stadium. Matt Hockenberry chipped in with a stellar outing on the mound as he fired (2) scoreless / hitless innings as he mowed down the "Odd Seed" hitters. Kurt Seiders added in a 1-3 day, with a single, two walks and two stolen bases. He also threw the bottom of the 9th, not allowing a baserunner. Cavan O'Reilly, despite going 0-2 with a walk, played flawless defense at shortstop, as he recorded 5 assists and 1 putout that was made on a diving stop up the middle forcing out a runner at 2nd base to end an inning.
Congratualtions to these four players for a job well done and represeting the SW York program so well!
SW York Beats Fredricksburg July 15, 2009
In an 8-inning affair, SW York topped Lebanon Co. Champs Fredericksburg by a score of 11-7. Fredericksburg won their county tournament and will be hosting and playing in the Region IV tournament starting on Saturday July 18th.
Pitchers David Walker, Eric Moul, Pat Shannon and Jack Kercher allowed a combined 7 runs on 12 hits, 5 walks, and 10 strikeouts. Meanwhile, on offense Nick Wallin paced SW York with a 4 for 5 night and Pat Shannon also chipped in 2 hits, including a triple.
SW York will continue its "End-of-Season" Exhibition Tour by traveling to Muhlenberg on Friday to take on the Muhlenberg A's of Berks County.
Curtain Falls On SW York Season July 11, 2009
The #2 seed SW York became Suburban York's third consecutive upset victim in the York-Adams Championship Tournament, as they were defeated 6 - 3 at SWHS Field. Despite throwing over 160 pitches, the Suburban pitcher, Chris Farscht, baffled SW York hitters the whole game as 17 of the 21 outs recorded were done so with relative ease, including (8 fly ball outs, 6 strikeouts, 2 weak comebackers to the pitcher and 1 sacrifice bunt).
Despite being stymied at the plate, SW York still had opportunities to score runs due to the 8 walks they induced. However, clutch hitting was amiss as 10 runners were stranded on base!
This officially ends the SW York run at a Region IV and State tournament berth. With one scheduled game remaining, July 17 @ Muhlenburg, additional games are a possibility if opposing teams and SW York players are available to participate.
