UCYSL Proudly Represents At Crossroads Invitational
Dublin Ca. (Sunday November 22, 2009) The Crossroads Invitational tournament is a long going CYSA District 3 tradition with the top recreational teams in U10-U14 boys and girls divisions representing their clubs. However, this year for the first time, UCYSL changed that tradition being the first ever District 4 league to participate in this year’s tournament.
CYSA District 3 is represented by Dublin, Fremont, Livermore, Mustang, Newark, Pleasanton and San Ramon soccer leagues. With two high recommendations to the Crossroads Invitational committee from Newark and Fremont soccer league Presidents Roddy Lopez and Steve Harrington, UCYSL sent three top teams to participate in the U12 boys and girls and U14 boys divisions.
The U14 boys team U.C. Milan finished the tournament 2-1. U.C. Milan just missed the consolation final when they were eliminated by a head to head tie breaker ruling.
The U12 girls team U.C. Lady Outlaws went into Sunday with two wins on Saturday over Danville Heat (2-1) and Newark Vipers (2-0). On Sunday the Lady Outlaws fell to a very tough Pleasanton team, however qualified for the consolation final. The Lady Outlaws were triumphant over the Dublin Soccer Dolphins 2-0 to place a very respectable 3rd place overall.
The U12 boys team U.C. Wolves went 2-0 on Saturday with wins over the Danville Sharks and Newark Los Nachos. On Sunday morning, the U.C. Wolves beat Pleasanton Rays to earn a place in the championship final. The championship final match saw the U.C. Wolves fall just short, 1-2 to a tough Fremont Apaches team and finish as runner- ups to the Champions.
Congratulations to all the players, coaches and parents of the three teams who proudly represented UCYSL at the 2009 Crossroads Invitational. UCYSL is proud to have been invited to participate in this wonderful soccer tradition and look forward to sending the top UCYSL recreational teams representing all the age divisions (U10-U14) in the years to come.
UCYSL supports and wishes the U.C. Wolves and The U.C. Lady Outlaws good luck as they participate in the 2009 CYSA Founder’s Cup on December 12-13 and 19-20 at the Morgan Hill Soccer Complex.
