Private Lessons 12/5
Spots are still available for Private lacrosse lessons this Saturday. The time slots are 9:00 to 10:00, 10:30-11:30, and 12:00- 1:00. Text me or e-mail me your request.

Sorry about the delay, but Capture the Flag and Bombing Run are now up on the Handouts Page. Have fun, and e-mail with changes you make. I'm going to try the hula huts.
Now we're back on track!!!
After two tough weeks of losses, the Jaguars put an impressive win up against Air Force, 9-8. Then did it again in the first round of the Play offs 9-5. This should pit us against Navy in the Finals. Navy is undefeated, but if we keep passing, locking down on defense, and riding the way we have been recently, there is no reason why we shouldn't roll Navy.
Private lessons
Private Lessons will be available beginning 7/20. Mornings and afternoons at AHN. Individual and small group sessions available. Check the private lessons page of this website for rates.
Tough First Game
Although the Jaguars controled to majority of the game, and had great opportunities on offense, Air Force's goalie was able to hold off the Jaguars. Good aggressive play, kept the Jaguars as a constant threat. Keep up the great work.
First Game
September 7, 2009
Our First Game is coming this Sunday, September 13th, at North Lakes, in Tampa. The Schedule is coming. When I get it, I'll e-mail it to you, put it on the JLC Website, and text you that it is out.

Shooters Fall Ball
Shooters Fall Lacrosse will begin Sept 13th at North Lakes Park. To register as a member of the Jaguar Lacrosse Club for Fall, just repeat what you did for Spring: JLC Registration Form, Shooters Registration Form, EL2 or AHN Release ( Unless I have one for this year already), and Maintain your USL membership. Contact Coach Doyle with your questions.

What forms do you need?
If you are an AHN student and have a physical on file witht he athletic department, you need:
JLC registration
Shooters registration
Physical Release form
If not:
JLC registration
Shooters registration
EL2 and EL3
You can either handle the USLAcrosse membership on your own or through the JLC. If through the JLC, please include a contact e-mail address.
What we are
The Jaguar Lacrosse Club is open to all boys in grades 4-8 at the Academy of the Holy Names and surrounding Tampa area. It is designed to be a post-season club running through May and June after the WFLL regular season. Our goal is to promote the growth of Lacrosse at AHN by providing an opportunity to play Lacrosse to those participating and not participating during the regular season.
This is a small club, so we will be limiting registration to 20 participants at the 4th - 6th grade level and 20 at the 6th-8th grade level.

Respect the Game
THE CREATOR'S GAME
The Game of lacrosse was given to our people by the Creator to play for his amusement. Just as a parent will gain much amusement at the sight of watching his child playing joyfully with a new gift, so it was intended that the Creator be similarly amused by viewing his "children" playing lacrosse in a manner which was so defiant of fatigue. This is our belief, and when the four Great Messengers cam, the Creator reiterated to us that his game should be played.
There is a long history of speculation about where the game of lacrosse originated, but as Natives of North America, this question has little significance. We do not wonder who invented lacrosse, or when and where; our ancestors have been playing the game for centuries - for the Creator.
Tewaarathon was not just played to call the Creator's attention to the efforst of the medicine people or simply for one's personal enjoyment and physical fitness. Tewaareathon, because it came from the Creator himself, was also played to bestow honor and respect ot these members living on Mother Earth who had done great things for the Nation. Related to this, Tewaarathon also constituted a means of offering thanksgiving to tyhe Creator for having allowed an elder or medicine person to remain with the Nation so that person could continue to share the richness of his full life with the younger members.
It is true that Tewaarathon (or lacrosse) does demand physical fitness, and participants would train for many months to prepare themselves for these important games, but what is more significant is that our people believed that all things on Mother Earth were a gift of the Creator and following the Creator's instructions. Because lacrosse was such a gift, the difficult training for Tewaarathon was not seen as a burden of work, but rather this training was enjoyed as a preparation to partaking in a precious gift. A participant in Tewaarathon believed that his ability to play was a gift itself and that the enjoyment of playing rested in freely giving his best effort. Because only the participant really knew when his effort had been well prepared and complete, the training for Tewaarathon was related to enjoying one's gift in the view of the very one who had been so generous. It is unfortunate that the fervour which our people took to the field of play was often misinterpreted by the European eye which was untrained to the relationship between the Indian, Tewaarathon, and the Creator. As for the players, in a game of such great importance, there were no bad feelings for any accidental gestures because both teams realized the sincerity of the effort.
