The South Ogden Rhino Raiders (RMFL) defeated the Denver Titans (CFC) and Albquerque Razorbacks (NMFL) to advance to the championship game. Their next opponent, the undefeated Southern California Steelers (SWFL) advanced when the California Football Association decided not to compete.

The FWFA 1st Annual Championship Game was held at Cheyenne High School in Las Vegas, Nevada on a cold December night. The game ended in regulation tied at 40-40 as two great teams battled it out. The game was played by NFL rules, so overtime saw the South Ogden Rhino Raiders win the coin toss and elected to receive. The drove down the field and won the game on a pass 46-40.

The second year's lineup of leagues included the Rocky Mountain Football League, New Mexico Football League and Colorado Football Conference in the North. In the South it was the Golden State Amateur League, Minor League Football Association; Northern Division, California Football Association and Southwest Football League.

The Rhino Raiders (RMFL)once again defeated both the CFC and NMFL Champions to earn a second birth in the FWFA Championship game.
In the South the San Gabriel Valley Rhinos, Champions of the CFA beat the Southern California Steelers, Champions of the SWFL to advance to the California Championship Game held in Historic Kezar Stadium in San Francisco. The San Gabriel Valley Rhinos won their 17th straight game beating the Sacramento Wolverines (GSAFL) in a close game 18-13.

The South Ogden Rhino-Raiders and San Gabriel Valley Rhinos met in the FWFA 2nd Annual Championship Game on December 17, 2004 at Dixie College in St. George, Utah. The San Gabriel Valley Rhinos won in a close game that went right down to the final series of the game.

2005 started with the Texas United Football League, Gulf Coast Football League (Texas), New Mexico League, Colorado Football Conference and Rocky Mountain League in the North. In the South it was the Copper State League (Arizona), California Football Association, Southwest Football League and Golden State Amateur League.

The Phoenix Rebels (CSFL) defeated the Albquerque Razorbacks (NMFL) in the first round, but withdrew from playing the South Ogden Rhino Raiders (RMFL). The Raiders (14-0) advance to the championship game at Dixie College on December 10th.

The Southern playoff matched the SWFL Champion and Penland Trophy Winner San Diego Thunder vs CFA Champion Long Beach Lions on November 26th, with that winner hosting the Daly City Renegades (16-1) for the California Championship on December 3rd. The San Diego Thunder emerged with a hard fought victory 19-7 over the Lions. The Renegades defeated the Thunder and earned the right to compete in the FWFA Championship game. The Renegades were unable to make the game at Dixie College, and the event was put on hold while a location and new date could be established. The Rhino-Raiders agreed to travel to San Francisco, where the Renegades beat them for the FWFA Championship.

The 2006 FWFA Championship was won by the New Mexico Crush over the Inglewood Blackhawks in Mesquite, Nevada for the Zone 1 Championship.
