CHS/CJP LEGION PLAYERS MAKE CHS 06' FROSH TEAM
Congratulations to all the CHS/CJP players from the 05' season CHS/CJP Sophomore Legion team that made the Colonia High School Freshman Baseball team for 06'. This is the first group of CJP players to reach the high school level. Nothing could be more encouraging than to see no less than 6 players make the team. Way to go guys. Good luck in the upcoming season. Keep up the hard work. A special thank you goes out to the Colonia High School 05' baseball staff for helping out.
CJP Joins Forces with American Legion Baseball
The Central Jersey Patriots Baseball Club, Inc (CJP) of Colonia has announced it has joined forces with Colonia's American Legion Baseball. The Colonia Sophomore (15U) American Legion baseball team will now be represented by the Central Jersey Patriots. CJP, Inc. was established in 2001 as a travel baseball organization. The intent was to help prepare the young baseball players of our community for high school baseball by giving them an opportunity to play a more competitive brand of baseball against teams from all over the tri-state area. What started as a single team has now grown to encompass teams ranging in age from 10 to 14 and now a 15U American Legion team. Joining the American Legion Baseball organization has given CJP an opportunity to funnel players to the Colonia Sophomore American Legion forum and further on to high school. American Legion baseball is the premier Summer baseball arena and is usually considered the precurser to high school baseball for young teens. What a great way to keep a players skills sharp over the summer and prepare him for freshman high school baseball. The Central Jersey Patriots Baseball organization is looking forward to a long and healthy relationship with American Legion Baseball and we are confident that the fruits of our labor will bare out in the high school baseball seasons to come.
Coach Tom Hennessey's Corner
We have added a new feature to the site. Coach Tom Hennessey, Colonia JV head coach and head coach of one of the two Colonia Junior American Legion teams will be available to answer any baseball questions as well as give tips of the week on fundamentals and strategy. Check the menu board to the left to get to the page.
CJP IS GROWING
CJP IS GROWING. SO MUCH INTEREST WAS GENERATED BY CJP LAST SPRING THAT WE ARE NOW FORMING 4 NEW TEAMS. ONE EACH IN THE 9U, 10U, 11U AND 13U AGE DIVISIONS. THESE NEW TEAMS WILL BE PLAYING IN SELECT TRAVEL LEAGUES AGAINST SOME OF THE BEST COMPETITION THIS STATE HAS TO OFFER. ON BEHALF OF THE ENTIRE 12U CJP TEAM, I WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND A WARM WELCOME TO THE NEW PLAYERS, PARENTS, COACHES AND MANAGERS OF THE NEW TEAMS AND WISH THEM THE BEST OF LUCK IN THEIR NEW BASEBALL EXPERIENCES. AS WE FOUND OUT LAST SPRING, THIS WILL BE A TREMENDOUS LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR ALL INVOLVED. ONCE AGAIN, WELCOME AND GOOD LUCK. WE'LL SEE YOU ON THE FIELD !!
PATRIOTS ON THE FIELD AT THE SOMERSET PATRIOTS BALLPARK
IN AUGUST THE 12U CENTRAL JERSEY PATRIOTS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE ON THE FIELD WITH THE SOMERSET PATRIOTS. AFTER GETTING AUTOGRAPHS FROM ALL THE PLAYERS IN THE DUGOUT INCLUDING JEFF NETTLES, SON OF THE GREAT YANKEE 3RD BASEMAN, GREG NETTLES AND SPARKY LYLE, MANAGER OF THE PATRIOTS AND 1978 CY YOUNG AWARD WINNER, THE CENTRAL JERSEY PATRIOTS WERE ANNOUNCED OVER THE PA SYSTEM AND RAN OUT ONTO THE FIELD WITH THE SOMERSET PATRIOTS FOR THE NATIONAL ANTHEM. IT WAS SUCH A HUGE THRILL FOR ME TO SEE THE LOOKS ON THE FACES OF THESE YOUNG BALLPLAYERS COMING OFF THE FIELD. I HONESTLY DON'T KNOW WHO ENJOYED IT MORE. HOPEFULLY THIS IS SOMETHING EACH ONE OF OUR CJP TEAMS GET TO DO EVERY YEAR.
