hosting a New Year's Eve Ball. Due to unfortunate circumstances, beyond our control, we feel we cannot put together a successful event this year.

SCHEDULE CHANGE FOR SATURDAY, DEC 4
December 2, 2009
On Sat. Dec4th the scheduled Atom practice from 12-1pm and the Squirt 1 practice from 1-2pm is cancelled. There will now be a Bantam "A" Tri-Com game from 12noon to 2pm on Sat Dec. 4th.

Teddy Bear Toss Night
The Slate Works Junior Stars will be holding a Teddy Bear Night on Friday December 4, 2009. All Teddy Bears will be donated to the Salvation Army for distribution to needy children this Christmas.
We encourage all fans and players to donate a Teddy Bear to this worthy cause. We will have a Teddy Toss at the beginning of the third period.

Please note: The Bay Arena has updated their website. If you have us bookmarked, and it comes up the old format, please type in www.thebayarena.com and you should receive our new site! Updates will only be added to the new site.
Also, in case there is some confusion, the new Bay Arena website is separate from the Bay Arena Minor Hockey website. For your information the BAY ARENA ASSOCIATION and the BAY ARENA MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION are two totally different organizations.

Information from HNL regarding H1N1
H1N1 VIRUS – RECOMMENDED STEPS FOR ALL ASSOCIATIONS AND TEAMS

Ladies and Gentlemen:
There is presently much speculation as to the impact that the H1N1 virus will have on Canadians over the next few months. Organizations have been urged to stress to their members steps that should be taken to prevent the spread of the virus, and to have plans in place to alleviate any hardships that may come of the spread of H1N1.
Hockey Canada has for many years had specific steps in place to reduce the spread of any infection in the hockey environment and we urge you to remind your teams of the following.
Team staff need to emphasize to players and parents the need for total cooperation in all aspects concerning hygiene, but specifically to the prevention of the transmission of the H1N1 virus. The following are recommended steps within the team environment:
1. Players should be urged to report all illnesses to their parents and the Safety Person/Trainer. Parents are urged to keep their children away from the hockey environment if they are showing any signs of infectious disease or virus. Sick players are encouraged to see their physician if showing signs or symptoms of the H1N1 virus, and to be fully recovered prior to returning to play.
2. Players should be encouraged to wash hands routinely and always after handling hockey equipment. Frequent hand washing with soap and water is one of the best preventions we can recommend. Teams are encouraged to carry extra hand soap or hand sanitizer as not all arenas have this readily available.
3. Talk to your players about covering their mouths and nose when coughing or sneezing using their arm as opposed to their hands.
4. Advise players to try and not touch their own mouths or nose when in the hockey environment to reduce the chance of them passing an infection on to themselves.
5. Ensure all players and staff have their own water bottles labeled with names and players numbers. Sport drink bottles should be avoided as direct lip contact is possible when drinking.
6. Officials and coaches should avoid drinking from other players water bottles and have water readily available to them on their respective benches.
7. Towels should be removed from all benches. Players should not share towels, clothing, bar soap or other personal items such as razors.
8. Assist athletes in protecting their immune system by stressing they get sufficient sleep, that they do not over train and that they get proper nutrition.
Attached to this Bulletin you will find important information on the H1N1 virus and we suggest distributing this to your team’s staff and parents for their information. You may find additional information on the Health Canada website at http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/index-eng.php, or on your applicable Provincial/Territorial sites.

25 YEARS!!!!

It's official the Bay Arena Minor Hockey Association and the Bay Arena Association will be celebrating 25 years!!! Starting in the fall of 2009 and ending in the summer of 2010, celebrations will be taking place. A committee has been formed and plans are starting to take place, but we need your help! We are calling on ALL Minor Hockey players, Coaches, Volunteers past and present to contact us, with your name, address, email address. Please forward your information to the following address: bayarena25years@gmail.com or join the Bay Arena Minor Hockey group on Facebook.
We need your help to contact all your friends and family who have been involved with the Bay Arena and Bay Arena Minor Hockey Association in the past 25 years, spread the word to contact us.
During the summer of 2010 in conjunction with Klondyke Days we will be having a weekend full of activities for the whole family. We will be setting up a day of memories, we are now looking for pictures from the very beginning. If you have pictures back when the Bay Arena started and the BAMHA we would love to have a copy or did you take part in the walk to raise money for the Bay Arena, maybe you have some items that we can borrow.
