Diesel wins Season Opener
TEAM DIESEL STARTED THE SEASON OFF ON A HIGH NOTE, TAKING BOTH GAMES OF A DOUBLEHEADER FROM FAIRVIEW'S BUBBA'S Q AT ELLET HIGH SCHOOL YESTERDAY. IN GAME ONE, DIESEL USED A RALLY IN THE 7TH WITH 2 OUTS TO FORCE EXTRA INNINGS AND WERE VICTIORIOUS IN THE 10TH ON JAKE ALBAUGH'S RUN ON A PASSED BALL. DEVIN DYE STARTED GAME ONE AND WENT FOUR INNINGS, GIVING UP 3 RUNS AND STRIKING OUT FIVE. BEN ENRIGHT RELEIVED DEVIN TO PITCH THE FINAL SIX INNINGS GIVING UP ONLY ONE RUN ON ONE HIT AND STRIKING OUT SEVEM, PICKING UP THE VICTORY. ALAN KRONTZ WENT 3-5 WITH AN RBI AND CLAYTON WATKINS HAD THE 2 RUN SINGLE THAT FORCED EXTRAS.
IN GAME TWO, DIESEL USED TWO, FOUR RUN INNINGS TO OUTLAST BUBBA'S Q, 10-8. DH ADAM LEBARRE WENT 3-4 WITH 3 SINGLES AND NEWCOMER JAKE ALBAUGH WENT 4-4 WITH 4 SINGLES AND 2 RBI'S. RYAN GEARGART ALSO SCORED 3 RUNS AND SWIPED 3 BASES IN THE PROCESS, GIVING HIM FIVE ON THE AFTERNOON.
TEAM DIESEL WILL WELCOME THE OHIO TITANS TO ELLET HIGH SCHOOL THIS FRIDAY MAY 22ND AT 6:30. COME SHOW YOUR SUPPORT AS THEY MAKE THEIR BID TO STAY UNDEFEATED!
Team Diesel is an 18+ baseball team based in Akron, Ohio. We are about to being our second season of existence. Our players come from all over portage, stark and summit counties, including Ellet, Field, Stow-Munroe Falls, Kent, Jackson, Claymont, North, Firestone, and Ravenna. Our team consists of players ages 18-25, with an average age of just over twenty one. We play in the Greater Akron AA Baseball League. Our home field is Ellet High School and our colors are black/green/gold. We are looking forward to a fantastic season and hope to give any team that stands in our a way a good run for the money! Come out and support us as we gear up for a great season of baseball this summer of 2009!!
New for 2009 is interleague play. All teams in the Akron AA league will play an interleague schedule versus all 5 of the Canton Class A teams. Team Diesel will host Canton Stallions, Little Chicago Bistro, and Abbott Electric, while traveling to Cook Park to play Custom Sportswear and Mallonn's/Walther's.
Also, Team Diesel has jumped divisions and will now play in the Suburban Division instead of the City Division. Canton Crew is an expansion team who will take our vacancy in the City Division.
