    Jason Dorey Named Hitting Instructor for the 2010 Season
    July 21, 2009 A three-sport (golf, basketball and baseball) athlete at Lisle High School, Dorey went on to play collegiate baseball at Northern Illinois and later Northeastern Illinois.

    After earning a degree in accounting, he worked as an accountant for such Fortune 500 companies as McDonald's, Nabisco, Kraft Foods and Illinois Tool Works. He also helped launch a baseball/softball training facility in suburban Chicago, overseeing business operations as well as coaching and instructing via individual lessons.

    One of his more notable progressive training experiences was assisting a Chicagoland optometrist develop a conditioned hand-eye coordination program. Known as COE Vision Training, Dorey negotiated agreements with numerous General Managers, coaches and players in Major League Baseball. He also trained individuals from the U.S. Olympic Softball Team as well as Major Leaguers from the Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians and Seattle Mariners.

    Currently he works as a professional recruiter for the business world, winning such awards as the Rookie Recruiter of the Year and Top 10 Recruiter in the Nation in back-to-back years.


    Stacy Birk Named Pitching Instructor for the 2010 Season
    November 1, 2009 Stacy Birk is in her first year as the Assistant Softball Coach at Lake Land College. She spent the past two years as the pitching coaching at Normal West High School in Normal, IL while she earned her master’s degree at Illinois State University.
    The Huntington Beach, California native completed her collegiate career at Illinois State University in 2007. Birk was named to the All-Valley First Team, MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team, a two-time selection to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Second Team after earning the honor in 2005, a two-time Prairie Farms Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week in back-to-back weeks, selected to the State Farm MVC All-Tournament team after being the only Redbird to collect multiple hits in ISU's semifinal loss to Southern Illinois, earned the celebrated decision over perennial powerhouse UCLA in Los Angeles. Birk holds records on the ISU career pitching charts, No. 1 wins, saves, appearances, games started, innings pitched and shutouts; No. 2 in and strikeouts; No. 3 in complete games; and No. 4 in strikeouts per seven inning game. Offensively, ranks No. 5 in career home runs and No. 8 in career runs batted in. Her honors in 2006 included NFCA Great Lakes Region Second Team, All-Valley First Team, State Farm MVC All-Tournament Team, and MVC Scholar-Athlete honorable mention. Birk was the first player in Valley history to sweep Player and Pitcher of the Week honors. In 2005, Birk was the team leader in wins, complete games, shutout, and strikeouts. During her freshman season, Birk became the first Redbird to take home Valley Rookie of the Year honors since 1996 and was also an All-Valley first team selection and Valley Pitcher of the Week twice. Along with those honors Birk was also named Illinois State Rookie of the Year.
    Birk has continued her career as a professional for the past three seasons after signing as an undrafted free agent by the Philadelphia Force of the National Professional Fastpitch league. She earned her first career win in 2007 against eventual NPF Champion, Washington Glory. She ended the year with a 3-6 record in 53.2 innings. Along with on the mound, fans saw her in left field and as the designated player. In 2008, Birk appeared in 23.0 innings for Philadelphia. Birk also saved a game out of the bullpen for the Force.
    Birk graduated from Illinois State University in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in graphic communications and earned her master’s degree in project management in 2009. She was born and raised in southern California where her family currently resides. Birk is the daughter of Jim and Vicki Birk. She has two sisters, Jamie and Kelly.
