Diamond Cats have 3 ASPBA All-Americans
September 18, 2007
The Chester County Diamond Cats had 3 players named to the ASPBA All-American team. Brandon Jackson-DH, Tyler Newman-IF, and Matt Riley-P. Jackson was 48-123 for a .390 batting average. Jackson had 14 doubles, 1 triple and 6 homeruns, 43 RBI's and 20 stolen bases. Newman was 39 for 103 for a .379 average. Newman had 13 doubles, 2 triples, 1 homerun, 40 RBI's and 33 base on balls. Riley had a 5-3 record with a 3.48 ERA. Riley struck out 37 batters while only walking 16 in 51.2 innings.
Diamond Cats #3 in Final ASPBA Poll

The Chester County Diamond Cats(27-9) finished 3rd in the final ASPBA Poll. The Hattiesburg Black Sox(50-6) winners of both the NSPBA and the ASPBA Worlds Series are ranked number 1. The Memphis Royals(40-14) are #2. The Myrtle Beach White Sox(23-4) are number 4 followed by the St. Louis Kings(13-6)#5, the St. Louis Golden Spikes(36-14)#6 and the Myrtle Beach Astros(14-5)#7.
Diamond Cats Season Comes to an End

The Diamond Cats ended their 2007 season with a loss to the Knoxville Rockers 6-4. Brandon Jackson was 3-4 and Adam Darby was 2-3. Daniel Greer had a two-run homer.

The Diamond Cats defeated the Knoxville Rockers by the score of 15-7. Brandon Jackson was the winning pitcher. Craig Massey, Adam Darby, and Derek Blackwood each had 2 hits while Daniel Greer added 3 hits. Brandon Jackson had a solo homerun leading off the 2nd inning.
Diamond Cats Pound Out 18 Hits

The Diamond Cats came out swinging against the Knoxville Braves. The Cats scored 7 runs in the first inning on their way to 17-1 win. Craig Massey was 3-5, Adam Darby 2-2, Tyler Newman 2-3, Brandon Jackson 2-3, Derek Blackwood 2-4, Daniel Greer 3-4 with a homerun, and Will Irvin 2-3 with a homerun. Derek Blackwood was the winning pitcher.
Diamond Cats Finish 3rd in World Series

For the first time all summer the Diamond Cats were shut-out. The Hattiesburg Black Sox, the eventual World Series champion, shut out the Cats on 6 hits. Chase Herrin and Derek Blackwood were each 2-3.
Diamond Cats Advance with Win over Royals

The Diamond Cats defeated the Memphis Royals by the score of 5-4 to live to play another day in the World Series. Brandon Jackson was 3-4 with 3 RBI's and got the win pitching a complete game.
Cats Bounce Back

The Diamond Cats defeated the Thomasville, Al Travelers 1-0 on a strong pitching performance by Matt Riley. Riley allowed only 4 hits while striking out 7.
Diamond Cats Lose Opener at World Series

Leading the Mississippi A's 4-1 going to the bottom of the sixth the Diamond Cats made 4 errors allowing 6 runs to score. The Cats scored one run in the 7th but lost the game 7-5. Chase Herrin was 3-3 and Brandon Jackson was 2-4. Tyler Sutton pitched 5 strong innings.
Diamond Cats defeat Blazers

The Diamond Cats defeated the Nashville Blazers by the score of 6-1. Matt Riley threw 7 strong innings scattering 4 hits. Robert Matlock was 2-4 and Brandon Jackson was 2-3.
Diamond Cats take TN Baseball Federation State Title

The Chester County Diamond Cats won the Tennessee Baseball Federation State Championship with a 6-1 win over the Nashville Blazers. Drew Hayes was winning pitcher tossing a complete game. JT Taylor and Robert Matlock were each 2-4. Brandon Jackson and Chris Parker were each 2-3. The Cats finished the tournament 3-0.
Diamond Cats Pitch Another Shutout

Brandon Cooper pitched a complete game, 4 hit shutout in game 2 versus the Columbia Curve. Cooper struck out 9 Curve hitters. Tyler Newman was 3-4 at the plate and James Brasfield drove in 2 runs for the Cats.

The Diamond Cats defeated the Columbia Curve 5-0 in the first game of a double header. Tyler Sutton pitched a complete game shutout for the Cats. Robert Matlock went 3-3. Matlock and Judson Powers each had a double for the Diamond Cats while Matlock and Tyler Newman each had 2 RBI's.
Diamond Cats to Play for State Title

The Diamond Cats advanced to the State Championship round by defeating the Nashville Brewers by the score of 11-1. Judson Powers pitched a 3 hitter with 14 K's in the game. The lone run came on a balk in the first. Powers was also 2-5 at the plate with a homerun and 3 RBI's. Brandon Jackson was 3-4 with a double and a homerun and 3 RBI's.
Diamond Cats Blank Braves
June 29, 2007
The Diamond Cats opened play in the ASPBA State Tournament in Nashville with a 7-0 win over the Nashville Braves. Matt Riley pitched a complete game shutout giving up only 5 hits and striking out 5. Tyler Newman, Brandon Jackson and Adam Darby all had 2 hits for the Cats. Jackson also had a homerun. Judson Powers added a triple. Jackson and James Brasfield had 2 RBI's each.
Diamond Cats Roughed up by Capahas

The Diamond Cats were roughed up by the Cape Girardeau Capahas 11-1. Phillip Riley pitched 7 strong innings for the Capahas. JT Taylor was 2-4 for the Diamond Cats. Matt Riley had a triple.
Diamond Cats Win Tournament

The Diamond Cats beat the Memphis Royals for the second time in the tournament to claim the Diamond Cats Invitational championship. Judson Powers gave up only 3 hits and allowed only one run in the 7th to give the Cats a 9-1 victory. Robert Matlock was 3-4 with a double and a homerun, Brandon Jackson was 3-4 with 2 RBI's, Adam Darby was 2-4 with 3 RBI's and a triple, and Derrick Bush was 2-3.
Diamond Cats Win Again in Tournament

The Diamond Cats handed the Columbia Curve thier second loss in the Diamond Cat Invitational. Kyle Rogers handcuffed the Curve limiting them to one run on 4 hits. Rogers struck out 5 while walking only one. Tyler Newman was 2-3 with 3 RBI's and Robert Matlock was also 2-3.

Brandon Cooper pitched a strong 6+ innings to give the Diamond Cats a 9-7 win over the Pine Bluff Braves. Judson Powers came in to get the save. Robert Matlock went 3-5 at the plate and Chris Parker was 2-3 with 2 RBI.
Diamond Cats open Tournament with a Win

The Diamond Cats came from behind with a 5 run 7th inning to gain 13-12 win over the Memphis Royals. Chris Parker hit a two out, two run single to give the Cats the win. Robert Matlock was 3-4 with 3 RBI. Parker was also 3-4 with 3 RBI and Judson Powers was 2-4 with 3 RBI. Jim Evans got the win in relief.
Diamond Cats Drop to #3 in National Poll

The Diamond Cats dropped to number 3 this week in the NASPBA Aluminum bat poll. The Memphis Royals are ranked number 1 with a record of 18-3, followed by the Hattiesburg Black Sox 31-5, The Diamond Cats 13-4, Myrtle Beach S.C. White Sox 14-3, and the St. Louis Golden Spikes 23-11.
Diamond Cats suffer 4th loss of Season

The Diamond Cats suffered their fourth loss of the season at the hands of the Hattiesburg Black Sox. Judson Powers was 3-4 with 2 RBI's. JT Taylor added two hits in 4 trips to the plate. Matt Riley took the loss.
Cats even series with game 2 Win
June 16, 2007
The Hattiesburg Black Sox took game one of a double header versus the Diamond Cats. The Sox scored 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 7-6 lead and held on for the win. Tyler Sutton pitched well giving up only 2 earned runs in 5 innings of work. The Cats leading hitters were Tyler Newman 2-3, Derek Blackwood 2-4, and Derrick Sewell 2-4. In game 2, the Diamond Cats scored 3 runs in the top of the seventh inning for a come from behind win by the score of 7-6. Judson Powers pitched a complete game for the win striking out seven Sox hitters. JT Taylor was 2-2 and Tyler Newman drove in 3 runs. The two teams will play again on Sunday.
Diamond Cats Split with Capahas
June 13, 2007
The Diamond Cats and the Capahas split a twin bill played at Dyersburg State. The Capahas won the first game 4-2 on a strong pitching performance from Jason Chaver who allowed only 3 hits, all singles. Matt Riley suffered his first loss of the season. In the nightcap the Cats won 14-4 behind Kyle Rogers. Rogers settled down after a shaky first inning. He limited the Capahas to 5 hits. Kris Ruderer was 3-3 for the Cats and drove in 2 runs. Brandon Jackson and James Brasfield were each 2-3. Jackson had 3 RBI's with a double and a homerun. Brasfield also had a double and drove in 2 runs. Judson Powers was 2-4 in the game with a triple. Adam Darby also added a triple.
Diamond Cats Defeat Redbirds
The Diamond Cats defeated the Memphis Redbirds 12-10. The Cats got two homeruns from Judson Powers and one from Tyler Newman. Powers was 4-5 with a double and 4 RBI's. Newman added 3 RBI's. Brandon Jackson was 2-5 with a double and Adam Darby was 2-4 with 2 RBI's. The Cats used 6 pitchers on their way to a victory. Brandon Jackson got the win and Kyle Rogers was credited with the save.
Diamond Cats Back in Win Column

The Diamond Cats defeated the Memphis Redbirds by the score of 15-0. Matt Riley picked up the win with 5 strong innings of work. Riley struck out 6 and walked none while giving up only 5 hits. He also picked off two base runners. On the offensive side Robert Matlock went 3-4 with a triple and two home runs. Tyler Newman was also 3-4 with 3 doubles. Brandon Jackson was 2-2, with a double and 2 walks, Derek Blackwood had two hits in 3 trips to the plate, and Brandon Cooper had two hits in 4 at bats. Derrick Sewell also homered for the Cats.
Diamond Cats Suffer first loss of the Season

The Memphis Royals defeated the Diamond Cats in 8 innings behind a strong pitching performance from Tony Marbry. The Diamond Cats scored a run in the bottom of the 7th to knot the score at 3 on a double from Robert Matlock. In the top of the 8th the Royals answered with a run after a lead off walk, a sacrifice bunt, a single and a sacrifice fly.

In the latest poll released on May 31, the Diamond Cats are ranked #1 with a record of 9-0. The Hattiesburg Black Sox are ranked number 2 with a record of 25-1, followed by the Memphis Royals at 6-1, Myrtle Beach White Sox 10-2 and the St. Louis Golden Spikes 16-3.
Cats Win Tournament
May 28, 2007
The Diamond Cats defeated the St. Louis Golden Spikes by the score of 13-12 in 13 innings. The Cats jumped out to an early 8-2 lead after 2 innings. The Spikes took a 12-10 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning when the Cats scored twice. In the top of the ninth the Spikes lead off with 2 singles and had runners on first and second with no outs. The Cats then turned a triple play to get out of the inning. In the bottom of the 13th inning, JT Taylor lead off the inning with a walk, then stole second and went to third on a throwing error. Robert Matlock and Tyler Newman were then intentionally walked. Brandon Jackson delievered a game winning single over the head of the centerfielder as Taylor came in to score. The Cats are now 9-0 on the young season.
Diamond Cats in Championship Game

The Diamond Cats defeated the Memphis Redbirds by the score of 12-1. Tyler Franklin pitched a 4 hitter. Leading hitters for the Cats were Brandon Jackson 2-3, Jonathan Keck 2-3, and James Brasfield 2-3. Judson Powers and Brasfield each hit a homerun while Keck added 2 homeruns.
Diamond Cats Move into Semi-Finals with 2 wins

The Diamond Cats defeated the Golden Spikes 3-1 on a strong pitching performance by Kyle Rogers. Rogers gave up only 1 hit in 5 innings of work. Brandon Jackson pitched the final two innings for the save. Derek Blackwood was 3-3 at the plate while Derrick Bush and Jonathan Keck each added two hits going 2-3. In the second game the Cats defeated the Pine Bluff Braves by a score of 17-7 in 6 innings. James Brasfield got the win in relief of Adam Ledlow. Tyler Newman was 3-4, Brandon Jackson 2-3 and Derrick Bush 2-4 with a homerun. The Diamond Cats will now face the Memphis Redbirds in the semi-finals.
Diamond Cats open Tourney with Win

The Diamond Cats opened the Pete Wade memorial Tournament with a 14-4 win over the Nashville Pirates. Tyler Sutton picked up his second win of the season. Matt Frazier and Brandon Cooper relieved in the win. Robert Matlock and Brandon Jackson each homered for the Cats. Matlock was 4-4 with 5 RBI's. Jackson was also 4-4 with 3 RBI's. Tyler Newman was 3-3 and Derrick Sewell was 2-4.
Diamond Cats sweep Travelers
May 21, 2007
The Diamond Cats traveled to Memphis for a double header against the Travelers. In game one Tyler Franklin and Brett Briggs hooked up in a pitcher's duel. Franklin pitched a 1 hit, complete game shutout striking out 10. The Diamond Cats scored 2 runs in the top of the 8th inning on Judson Powers' home run. In game 2 the Cats pounded out 21 hits on their way to a 19-7 win. Robert Matlock and Chris Parker both had 4 hits, while Jim Evans added three hits. Judson Powers, Tyler Newman, Brandon Jackson, and Adam Darby each had 2 hits for the Cats. James Brasfield was the winning pitcher with relief help from Kyle Rogers and Matt Frazier.
Diamond Cats Defeat Pirates

The Diamond Cats are off to a fast start with a 2-0 record. The Diamond Cats defeated the Pulaski Pirates 13-0 and 10-0 on Saturday at FHU. Matt Riley got the win in the season opener. Riley and Brandon Cooper pitched the shutout. Chris Ruderer, Tyler Newman, Judson Powers, Chris Parker, Cody Willoughby, James Brasfield, and Derrick Sewell all had multiple hits. Tyler Sutton, Blake Talbot and Kyle Rogers combined for a one hit shutout with Sutton being the winning pitcher. Judson Powers homered for the Cats and went 3-3. Derrick Sewell had 2 hits in the win.
Diamond Cats Set for Title Defense

The Chester County Diamond Cats will begin defense of their 2006 NASPBA World Series title Saturday, May 19 at Freed Hardeman University. The Diamond Cats open their season with a double header versus the Pulaski Pirates. Game time is 1:00p. They will travel to Memphis to play the Tn. Travelers in a double header at Gagliano Field on Sunday May 20. Game time is 4:00p.
Newman selected NASPBA All-American
September 20, 2006
Tyler Newman was selected to the NASPBA All-American team. He led the NASPBA in hits(57), Doubles(18), and RBI's(41). He was fifth in homeuns(5), fifth in runs(40), fifth in AB's(152) and sixth in avg.(.375). Scott Dean was seventh in runs(36) and eighth in AB's(125). Chris Parker was second in avg.(.431), third in RBI's(35) and fifth in hits(53). Brandon Jackson was first in avg.(.472), second in homeruns(8) and third in RBI's(35). JT Taylor was second in runs(48) and Derek Blackwood was ninth in runs(32).
Matt Riley was fifth in wins(7) and Kyle Rogers was seventh in wins(6).
Diamond Cats 2006 NASPBA World Series Champions

The Chester County Diamond Cats beat the Memphis Royals 8-6 in the NASPBA World Series Championship Game. The game was suspended in the top of the fifth when the rains and lightning came to Hattiesburg, MS on July 30. The game was completed at Freed Hardeman University on August 13. Brandon Jackson was the Outstanding Offensive Player of the tournament and Matt Riley was the Outstanding Pitcher. The Diamond Cats finished the season with a 31-17 record and number a #4 national ranking.
