     Be an Athlete!
Today, when more women play sports than ever before, few women say
    β€œYes, I am an athlete.”
    Why do I care?
    Because athletes walk with pride.
    They try new things.
They persist in the face of doubt and defeat.
According to research, self-identified athletes are more likely than others
to feel bold and assertive, to enjoy competing, and to expect success.
                         β€œAthlete” is a powerful word.
    Athletes know how to compete.
Nonathletes tend to avoid competition and believe friends shouldn't compete.
Athletes don't see competition as divisive; they use it
    to connect.
They play hard in practice, knowing their best efforts help teammates improve.
They shake hands with opponents, grateful for the challenge.
    ----excerpt from Mariah Burton Nelson
[former college and professional basketball player - an ATHLETE]

What we hope ever to do with ease, we must learn first to do with diligence.
    Samuel Johnson

What counts is not the number of hours you put in, but how much you put in the hours.

"Our attitude is the primary force that will determine whether we succeed or fail."
    -- John C. Maxwell
