Forsyth Outlaws vs Atlanta Bluejays 11-08-09
November 8th - On a spectacular Sunday afternoon for baseball the Forsyth Outlaws played host to the visiting Atlanta Blue jays in a twin bill. The Blue jays featured a powerful offensive lineup and an impressive defensive infield. Game One featured a seesaw offensive battle with the Outlaws and Blue jays combining for 20 hits. Logan Cole's pitching kept the Blue Jays on their heals for the first two innings with the Outlaws leading 3 to 1. The Blue Jays mounted a comeback in the third with their first three batters reaching base. Michael Strait was called on to put out the fire. He quickly went to work and ended the inning on a line out double play to short. After 3 1/2 the Outlaws found themselves down 5 to 4, but in the bottom of the fourth the Outlaws quickly countered with Justin Graczyk opening the inning with a leadoff single. Timmy Whicher reached base on a fielder's choice and Garrett Crick delivered a game tying sacrifice bunt. Logan Cole and Eric Furphy delivered hits for the go ahead runs. The Blue jays bats rallied again to tie the game 7 to 7, but the Outlaws opened the bottom of the fifth with Michael Strait leading the inning off making it to second base and advancing to third on an error. Adison Schimmelpfennig stepped up to deliver a walk off hit and RBI, Outlaws win game one 8 to 7. Michael Strait was the winning pitcher.

In game two the Blue jays pitchers struggled to find the strike zone and the Outlaws struggled defensively. In the top of the first the Outlaws opened the game with a leadoff walk and two stolen bases to take a 1 to 0 lead. In the first two innings the Outlaws committed 3 errors, but Zach Lance's pitching kept the Blue jays offense down only surrendering one run. The score was tied 1 to 1 after two. In the top of the third the Outlaws batters were patient, leading off the inning with 5 consecutive walks. Brady Ballstadt delivered a single / RBI and the Outlaws offense put five runs on the board. The Blue jays offense mounted another comeback but Chason Smith's and Justin Blastick's pitching held the Blue jays to 2 runs to end the game. The Outlaws win 6 to 3 in four innings. Zach Lance was the winning pitcher.

Thank you Blue jays and we wish you success in your inaugural season.
