The 2007 West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club has been ranked as the 6th best 12U travel baseball team in New Jersey by Blue Chip Youth Sports. It is great to see our program recognized throughout the state by our travel baseball peers. Congratulations to our players and coaches on your baseball excellence!!!
WOLVERINES 12U TOP ROXBURY FOR CERBO SPRING 50'/70' LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

On a beautiful Father's Day morning, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club stopped Roxbury 9-7 to win the Cerbo Spring 50'/70' League championship at Chamberlain Field in Jefferson NJ. This was the first-ever meeting between Roxbury (Cerbo West Division Champs) and West Milford (Cerbo East Division Champs).
The Wolverines received excellent pitching from Steve Cuccio (Win, 4-IP, 6-K, 0-H, 0-R), Jeff Oster (4-IP, 1-ER, 6-K), and Marc Anthony Gonzalez (Save, 1-IP, 2-K).
The Wolverines struck quickly in the home half of the first when Greg Tompkins singled, moved over to second on a Nick Conlon sacrifice bunt, then scored on two wild pitches. Oster later walked and eventually scored on a Roxbury wild pitch. In the fourth inning, Oster walked, moved over to second on a ground out, then scored on Steven Sweigart's RBI single to center field.
In the sixth frame, Nick Conlon walked and stole second, then advanced over to third on a Roxbury balk. Cuccio followed with an RBI single to center field, scoring Conlon. Cuccio later scored on a combination of stolen bases and balks to increase West Milford's lead to 5-0.
In the seventh stanza, Marc Anthony Gonzalez singled, stole second and third, then scored on E.J. Wiegman's RBI base hit to center field. After advancing to third, Wiegman scored on Craig Zeglen's sacrifice fly to left field, increasing the Wolverines' lead to 7-1.
In the eighth inning, Conlon's double was followed by Cuccio's 2-run homer to right-center field, making the score 9-2 in favor of West Milford.

The West Milford Wolverines Baseball Club would like to congratulate the West Milford Little League American 12 Year Old All Star team for winning the NJ District-2 championship!!! The team was comprised of current/former Wolverines' players Nick Conlon, Marc Anthony Gonzalez, Steven Sweigart, Zach Day, Zane Yuhas, Andrew Clifford, and Ed Conlon (manager).
In eight games, our Wolverines contributed significantly to the team's success. Conlon amassed 6-HR, 14-R, 23-H, 12-2B, 28-RBI, .710-BA, and a .730 OBP. Gonzalez pumped out .471-BA, 13-R, 16-H, 5-2B, 11-RBI, and a .513-OBP. Sweigart added 3-HR and 7-RBI.
On the hill, Conlon (22-IP, 3-W, 31-K) and Gonzalez (2-W, 1-S, 13.2-IP, 20-K) dominated the All Star competition.

The West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club would like to congratulate West Milford Little League's Major Division Athletics on finishing the season with a 16-1 overall record and for winning their 2007 league championship. The Athletics' roster is comprised of present Wolverines 12U players Steve Sweigart and Nick Conlon, along with past Wolverines Zane Yuhas, Sam Yuhas, Erik Tompkins, and Zach Day.

WOLVERINES' THRILLING COMEBACK OVERTURNS X-FACTORS 9-8 FOR CERBO SPRING 12U EAST TITLE!!!

On Sunday, June 10th, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club scored six runs in their last at-bat to miraculously overtake the X-Factors 9-8 in the Cerbo Spring 12U 50'/70' League Eastern Division championship game at Munson Field in West Milford. The resilient Wolverines never gave up, as they trailed throughout most of the contest but kept finding ways to bounce back.
Steve Cuccio (4-IP, 8-K, 2-H, 2-R), Nick Conlon (3-IP, 2-K, 2-ER), and Jeff Oster (Win, 2-IP, 2-R) manned the hill for the champions.
The Wolverines' offense couldn't get into gear until the fifth frame when E.J. Wiegman walked and stole second base. Greg Tompkins promptly belted a RBI double to leftfield to cut the X-Factor lead to 2-1. Tompkins then capitalized on two wild pitches to tie the game.
In the sixth stanza, Marc Anthony Gonzalez slashed a leadoff single, then took second on a X-Factor throwing error. After Gonzalez moved over to third on a fielder's choice groundout, Matt Ajaj laid down a beautiful RBI squeeze bunt to cut the X-Factors lead to 5-3.
West Milford entered the home half of the eighth inning trailing by five runs. Although things looked bleak, the Wolverines began clawing their way back. Cuccio and Oster stroked consecutive singles. After a pitching change by the X-Factors, Gonzalez produced an RBI groundout to cut the deficit to four runs. Steve Sweigart roped an RBI single to score Oster and cut the X-Factor's lead to 8-5. Ajaj followed with a base hit to put runners on the corners. Nick Monteverdi's suicide squeeze RBI bunt scored Sweigart and cut the gap to 8-6. Conor Labita's RBI single inched the Wolverines closer at 8-7. After Craigie Zeglen walked, Tompkins' infield base hit scored Labita, while Zeglen hustled all the way around to score on a X-Factor overthrow, giving West Milford their only lead of the game at 9-8.
Oster pitched a lights out ninth to close out the thrilling victory for West Milford, advancing them to the Cerbo Spring 12U 50'/70' League championship game against the West Division champs, Roxbury, on June 17th in West Milford.

On a drizzly Sunday, June 3rd, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club outlasted the Nutley Americans 3-1 in their Cerbo Spring League playoff round #2 matchup at Munson Field in West Milford. The victory advanced West Milford to the Cerbo Spring 12U 50'/70' League East Division championship game against the X-Factors on June 10th in West Milford.
Steve Cuccio (Win, 4-IP, 9-K, 1-H, 0-R) and Nick Conlon (Save, 3-IP, 1-H, 1-R, 5-K) pitched magnificently for the home team.
The Wolverines scored all of their runs in the home half of the third inning when Matt Ajaj started things off by reaching base on an error. After Craigie Zeglen dropped down a bunt single, both runners moved up on a passed ball. Greg Tompkins then lined a 2-RBI double to right centerfield. After Steve Cuccio was plunked by a pitch, Conlon lined a RBI-single to right to score Tompkins and give West Milford a 3-0 lead.
Excellent defense and solid pitching allowed the home team to hang on for a 3-1 win. Other highlights included Tommy Zarzecki's long double and Conor Labita's terrific catching with a bruised thumb.

The West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club capped off a long Memeorial weekend with an exhilarating 4-2 victory over the Jersey Patriots in the championship game of the Cerbo Bridgewater Blast Tournament at Prince Rodgers Field in Bridgewater NJ. The contest featured outstanding defense and pitching by both teams.
Steve Cuccio (Win, 4-IP, 7-K, 1-R) and Jeff Oster (Save, 2-IP, 2-K, 0-ER) pitched well for the champions.
Greg Tompkins cranked up the offense in the top of the first inning by leading off with a single to centerfield. After Tompkins stole second base, Nick Conlon lined an RBI single to rightfield to give West Milford a quick 1-0 lead.
In the second frame, Steve Sweigart hit his second home run of the tournament, a solo shot, to increase the Wolverines' lead to 2-0. In the third stanza, Conor Labita led off with a single up the middle. After stealing second, Tompkins drilled a RBI single to leftfield to make the score 3-0. Tompkins' nifty running allowed him to move all the way around to score a a mix of wild pitches and stolen bases, giving West Milford a 4-0 cushion.
The Wolverines received their championship medals on the field after the game, then culminated the tourney with an ice water dousing of Coach Ed.
WOLVERINES 12U SILENCE WARREN WARRIORS 7-0 IN BRIDGEWATER BLAST POOL GAME #2!!!

On Saturday, May 26th, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club silenced the Warren Warriors 7-0 behind a masterful complete game pitching performance from Nick Conlon in Pool Game #2 of the Cerbo Bridgewater Blast Tournament in Bridgewater NJ. Conlon let up only one hit and walked one, while striking out nine Warren batters in going the distance for West Milford. The Wolverines' defense sparkled throughout the evening.
In the top of the first inning, Greg Tompkins' leadoff double was immediately followed by Conlon driving a 2-run home run over the leftfield fence to give the visitors a quick 2-0 lead.
In the second stanza, Steve Sweigart led off with a single to leftfield. After E.J. Wiegman bunted him over to second base, Craig Zeglen lined a RBI single. Zeglen then stole second base and was knocked home by Conor Labita's RBI double off the fence in centerfield, giving the Wolverines a 4-0 cushion.
In the fourth frame, Marc Anthony Gonzalez reached on an error, stole second and third, then scored on Zeglen's RBI groundout. In the fifth, Conlon walked, advanced to third on wild pitches, then scored on Jeff Oster's RBI base hit to centerfield. In the sixth inning, consecutive singles by Gonzalez, Tommy Zarzecki, and Zeglen were followed by a bases loaded walk to Tompkins, increasing West Milford's lead to 7-0.

On Friday, May 25th, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club opened the Bridgewater Blast Tournament with a convincing 10-5 victory over Flor-Mad in Pool Game #1 at Prince Rodgers Field in Bridgewater NJ. Steve Cuccio (Win, 4-IP, 8-K, 0-R) and Jeff Oster (2-IP) handled the pitching duties for West Milford.
In the third frame after Conor Labita singled, Greg Tompkins blasted a two run homer over the leftfield fence to give the Wolverines a 3-0 lead. Nick Conlon and Cuccio both singled, then advanced all the way around to home on a series of Flor-Mad errors and wild pitches. After Steve Sweigart walked, singles by A.J. Willard and Marc Anthony Gonzalez drove Sweigart home for a 6-0 West Milford lead.
In the fourth inning, after Craig Zeglen lead off with a single and stole second base, Greg Tompkins laced an RBI base hit to increase West Milford's lead to 7-0.

The West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club beat the NJ Blackhawks 6-1 to sweep their twinbill at Munson Field in West Milford NJ. Steve Cuccio (Win, 4-IP, 6-K, 1-ER) and Jeff Oster (3-IP, 1-H, 0-R) provided strong pitching for the Wolverines.
In the first frame, Nick Conlon blasted a solo HR to give West Milford a quick 1-0 lead. Cuccio followed with a single, then later scored on a Blackhawks' error to increase the Wolverines' lead to 2-0. In the second inning, Steve Sweigart led off with a single to centerfield. Nick Monteverdi later lifted a long sacrifice fly to leftfield to drive home Sweigart. In the seventh stanza, Conor Labita singled, moved around to third on wild pitches, then scored on Greg Tompkins RBI base hit. After Conlon singled, Cuccio's RBI fielders choice and Oster's RBI single drove home two more runs.
The Wolverines extended their Cerbo Spring League record to 9-0 in the process.

On a brisk Mother's Day morning, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club crushed the South Bergen Mets 15-3 in their Cerbo Spring League matchup at Munson Field in West Milford NJ. The Wolverines treated their moms with an offensive explosion that included 16 hits, 10 walks, and 15 stolen bases. A.J. Willard (3-IP, 1-R) and E.J. Wiegman (3-IP, 2-R) handled the pitching duties for West Milford.
The Wolverines lashed out in the bottom of the first inning when walks to Greg Tompkins and Nick Conlon were followed by a 2-RBI base hit by Steve Cuccio. After Cuccio stole all the way around to home, Steve Sweigart smashed his second homer of the season over the leftfield fence to give the home team a 4-1 lead. In the second frame, Marc Anthony Gonzalez' led off with a single to right centerfield. After advancing around to third, Tommy Zarzecki's RBI groundout allowed Ganzalez to race home and increase West Milford's lead to 5-1.
In the third stanza, Cuccio crushed his seventh round tripper of the season. After Jeff Oster singled to centerfield, Matt Ajaj's rope up the middle drove in Oster with the Wolverines seventh run. Greg Tompkins followed up with a RBI single to increase the Wolverines' lead to 10-3.
In the fifth, Conlon's leadoff single was followed by Cuccio's first career bunt hit. Oster then ripped a RBI base hit to centerfield to score Conlon. After Willard's sacrifice fly drove home Cuccio, Sweigart slashed a base hit. Ajaj smacked his third hit of the day, an RBI single. Monteverdi and Gonzalez's walks forced home yet another run.
In the home half of the sixth, Tompkins double was followed by Conlon's game ending RBI basehit, allowing the mercy rule to take effect.

In the second game of their Cerbo Spring League twinbill, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club overtook the Nutley Americans 10-8 in 7 innings at Munson Field in West Milford NJ. The victory improved the Wolverines Cerbo League record to 6-0 for the season.
Nick Conlon (2.2-IP, 2-K), Jeff Oster (.1-IP, 1-K), Craigie Zeglen (Win, 2-IP, 2-K), and Steve Cuccio (Save, 2-IP, 5-K, 0-R, 0-H) pitched well for West Milford.
On offense, the Wolverines led off the first inning with home runs by Greg Tompkins and Steve Cuccio, establishing a quick 2-0 lead. In the fifth, Cuccio homered once again. After Oster singled and advanced to second on a passed ball, A.J. Willard smacked a RBI double to narrow the score to 5-4. In the sixth frame, Nick Monteverdi led off with a single to centerfield. After Tom Zarzecki laid down a sacrifice bunt, Zeglen roped an RBI single to center. Tompkins then drew a walk and was followed by Conlon reaching base on an infield error. Nutley chose to intentionally walk the hot hitting Cuccio, loading the bases. Oster responded by lacing a 2-RBI single to center, after which time Sweigart joined the hitting party with a RBI single to right centerfield. In the seventh, Willard's leadoff double was cashed in when Jeremy Rodriguez ripped an RBI single, making the final score 10-8 in favor of West Milford.

On Saturday, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club defeated the Nutley Americans 11-4 in the first game of a Cerbo Spring League doubleheader at Munson Field in West Milford NJ. Steve Cuccio (1-IP, 2-K, 0-ER), E.J. Wiegman (1-IP, 1-K), and Jeff Oster (4-IP, 3-K) manned the hill for the home squad.
The Wolverines attacked in the bottom of the first frame when Greg Tompkins (walk) and Nick Conlon (single) reached base. After Cuccio drilled a RBI single to score Tompkins, Steve Sweigart crushed a 2-RBI double to leftfield, scoring Conlon and Cuccio. Jeremy Rodriguez followed with a RBI single to make the score 5-0 in favor of West Milford.
In the third inning, Craig Zeglen's leadoff base-on-balls was followed by consecutive singles by Cuccio and Oster. After Sweigart walked, A.J. Willard and Rodriguez singled in runs, increasing the Wolverines' lead to 9-4. In the sixth stanza, aggressive baserunning by Rodriguez and Nick Monteverdi pushed across two more insurance runs for West Milford.

The cardiac kids from West Milford hung on for another exciting extra inning victory, by scoring six runs in the seventh inning to defrost the Frozen Ropes 12-6, sweeping their Cerbo Spring League twinbill at Munson Field in West Milford. West Milford received workmanlike pitching performances from A.J. Willard (3-IP, 3-K, 2-ER), Craigie Zeglen (2.2-IP), and Jeff Oster (Win, 2.1-IP, 4-K, 0-R).
The Wolverines opened the game when Steve Cuccio was pegged by an errant pitch. After Cuccio stole second base, Oster drilled an RBI single to center to give the visitors a quick 1-0 lead. In the fourth frame, Cuccio was once again plunked by a pitch, causing emotions to stir. A very determined Cuccio then stole second and third base, later scoring on a Frozen Ropes infield error, cutting the home team's lead to 3-2. In the fifth inning, E.J. Wiegman continued his torrid hitting by smashing his first career HR over the leftfield fence, knotting up the score at 3-3. In the sixth, Greg Tompkins' leadoff single was immediately followed by Cuccio's second homerun of the day. Jeff Oster's infield hit and sly baserunning allowed him to score on Steve Sweigart's RBI base hit, increasing West Milford's lead to 6-3.
But the Frozen Ropes battled back by scoring three runs in their last at-bat to send the contest into extra innings. In the top of the eighth, the Wolverines were the beneficiaries of poor Frozen Rope pitching, pushing across six runs on a myriad of walks, capped off by Willard's 2-RBI double to centerfield, to give the undefeated West Milford squad a 12-6 lead.
The Wolverines sit alone in first place in the Cerbo Spring League with a spotless 4-0 record.

In the first game of a Cerbo Spring League twinbill, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club sliced the Frozen Ropes 6-5 on a walk-off RBI single by Steve Cuccio in the bottom of the sixth inning at Munson Field in West Milford NJ. West Milford rebounded from an early deficit to capture a win against the White Plains NY based travel team.
The Wolverines pitching was led by Nick Conlon (2-IP, 3-K), Marc Anthony Gonzalez (2-IP, 5-K, 0-H), and Cuccio (Win, 2-IP, 4-K, 0-H, 0-R).
West Milford's offense cranked up in the home half of the first inning when Cuccio hit a towering bomb halfway up the mountain behind the centerfield fence. Singles by Jeff Oster and Greg Tompkins were followed by nifty baserunning, allowing the hosts to even up the score at 3-3. Matt Ajaj reached base on a walk to lead off the second frame, then stole all the way around to home to give West Milford a 4-3 lead. In the fifth, Nick Monteverdi singled, stole second and third, then raced home on a passed ball to tie the game at 5-5, setting up Cuccio's dramatics in the Wolverines' last at-bat. In the sixth, Nick Conlon singled to center field, stole second and third, then jubilantly jumped all the way home on Cuccio's walk-off single to leftfield.

On Saturday, April 28th, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club toppled the Ramapo Rangers 16-12 in a ten inning (4 hour) marathon at Pulis Field in Franklin Lakes NJ. The Wolverines' offense contributed with 12 hits, 14 walks, and 14 stolen bases in this Cerbo Spring League contest.
West Milford's attack was led by Steve Sweigart (3-H, 2-R), Nick Conlon (2-H, HR), Greg Tompkins (3-SB), and E.J. Wiegman (3B, 2-BB, 2-SB).

On a picture perfect Sunday morning, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club bombed the Ramapo Rangers 20-3 in their Cerbo Spring League opener at Munson Field in West Milford NJ. The Wolverines' offense was firing on all cylinders as ten players hit safely in the contest.
In the home half of the second, Greg Tompkins followed Jeff Oster's leadoff single with a two run homerun to leftfield, to give West Milford a quick 2-0 lead. In the third frame, Nick Conlon crushed a three run moon shot over the right centerfield fence, after Jeremy Rodriguez and Conor Labita led off with consecutive singles. The Wolverines added three more runs on walks and aggressive baserunning to extend their lead to 8-0. In the sixth, Conlon's RBI double was followed by run scoring singles by Tompkins and Matt Ajaj.

Willard and Nick Conlon singled, Oster followed with a walk to load the bases. After Willard scored on a wild pitch, Nick Monteverdi managed a RBI groundout to second base to score Conlon and extend the Wolverines' lead to 6-2. In the fifth inning, consecutive singles by Tommy Zarzecki, Rodriguez, and Conor Labita made the score 7-2.

On a blustery Friday, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club added another memorable comeback to their storied history after scoring eight runs in their last at bat to overcome the Jersey Shore Breeze 11-10 in pool game #1 of the Viking Spring Classic Tournament in South Brunswick NJ. Conor Labita's clutch 2-RBI game winning single allowed the home team to snatch the game from the Breeze.
Sloppy defensive play allowed the vistors to take an 8-3 lead in the last inning, but the resilient bunch from West Milford battled back from a seemingly impossible deficit.
The Wolverines' ran rampant on the basepaths, stealing 11 bases thoughout the contest.
Nick Conlon (3.1-IP, 5-K, 3-ER), and E.J. Wiegman (Win, 1.2-IP) handled the pitching chores for West Milford.

On Saturday, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club shot down a very talented Delmarva Shorebirds Orange squad 5-3, at the Spring Beach Classic V Tournament @ Sports At The Beach in Rehoboth Beach DE. The Wolverines combined flawless defense, strong pitching, and timely hitting to come up with a huge win.
In the home half of the first, after Greg Tompkins and Nick Conlon led off with singles, Steve Cuccio launched a three run bomb over the leftfield fence to give West Milford a quick 3-0 lead. Following walks to Jeff Oster and A.J. Willard, smart baserunning and RBI groundouts by Marc Anthony Gonzalez and Steven Sweigart extended the Wolverines' advantage to 5-0.
Cuccio (Win, 4-IP, 7-K, 2-ER), Gonzalez (1.2-IP, 1-ER), and Oster (Save) dominated the hill for West Milford.

On Saturday, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club opened the Spring Beach Classic V Tournament by flooding the Delaware Storm 11-7, at Sports At The Beach in Rehoboth Beach DE.
The Wolverines jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Jeff Oster smashed a mammoth three run homer over the right center field fence, after Nick Conlon singled and Steve Cuccio was plunked by a pitch.
In the home half of the second, West Milford's offense fired up once again, as A.J. Willard crushed a round tripper after Nick Monteverdi was hit by a pitch. After Craigie Zeglen lined a single to left center, Conlon blasted a RBI double to right field to make the score 6-0. Cuccio lined a base hit to score Conlon, then later crossed home on an infield error, making the score 8-0 in favor of the Jersey squad.
In the fourth frame, Conlon reached base on a long drive to the left field fence that was bobbled, later stole second and third, then scored on Oster's single up the middle. Oster then moved around to third base on two Delaware passed balls, eventually scoring on Marc Anthony Gonzalez's RBI base hit to left field, making the score 10-5.
In the fifth inning, A.J. Willard smashed his second homer of the game, a solo shot, providing the Wolverines with an insurance run.
Conlon (Win, 3.2-IP, 0-ER, 6-K), Oster (1.1-IP, 4-K, 1-ER), and E.J. Wiegman (Save, 1-IP) pitched well for West Milford.
