If you wanted to experience some exciting Softball, you need to be in Canastota for today's games.
Camden in their inaugural season in Little League Softball, played very hard and will be a continued force not only in District 9, but in Section and future State play. Congratulations to their program for making it to the State Tournament.
Orchard Park came to Canastota like a different team than we saw on Saturday. And they had a Semi-Final spot until Wappinger rallied in the bottom of the 6th with 5 runs.
The Communities of both Camden and Orchard Park should be proud of their teams. All played hard and all Players, Coaches and Fans were respectful representatives, both on and off the field.

Canastota Little League Chosen to host 2010 NYS LL Softball Tournament
The Village of Canastota, the Home of the International Boxing Hall of Fame is preparing to host the prestigious New York State Softball Little League Tournament scheduled for July 24th though the 28th , 2010 at the Fred N. Verro Little League Stadium at the Canastota Recreation Fields located on Joe Stagnitti Lane and N. Main Street, Canastota, NY. 13032.
“We feel honored to be asked to host this special sporting event for the second consecutive year. We had a great time last year, watched some incredible softball and met some of the nicest players, coaches and parents!” said Canastota Little League President Bill Haddad. “We are now planning to welcome several hundred players, parents and coaches from all across the Empire State. We’re proud to be a part of it”. Little League has been around since 1938 and provides children ages five to sixteen years old with the opportunity to be a part of an environment which promotes leadership, teamwork and sportsmanship.
Six teams will compete in the five day tournament. Each team will play in a 2 Pool Format and the top two teams will compete for the title of NY State Champions on Wednesday, July 28th at 5:00pm. The winner will then advance to the Regional Playoffs in Albany, with a chance to advance to Portland, Oregon for the Little League Softball World Series.
Teams will start to arrive in Canastota on Friday July 24, from Long Island, New York City, Albany, Buffalo, the Hudson Valley, and from right here in the central NY area. Games starts Saturday, July 24th at noon, and at 2:00 pm, same times, on Sunday July 25th, Monday and Tuesday’s games are at 3:30 and 5:30 and Wednesday’s Championship game will start at 5:00 pm. (these times are all subject to change based on any severe weather).
"We continue to showcase our Central New York Hospitality to these young athletes and with the community's help we can continue to draw this caliber of play in Canastota." said Haddad. "With the help and support from the Village to allow us to use the Recreation Park, to some of the local businesses helping with products or donations, we continue to improve this venue, and hopefully will continue to get the opportunity to host it next year. Since it a Little League event, there is no admission for the public to come and watch and no fees to the teams that come, so Canastota Little League looks to sponsors to help reduce the costs. Sponsorships are still available and we are very flexible with working with the local sponsors. Any help is appreciated."
