Welcome to the home of the
New 14U Jersey Bulldogs (Team Akadema Bulldogs)

Bulldogs Defeat Rivervale Ravens 8 to 5 in League Game
November 9, 2009 Bulldogs won game in an extra inning, after failing to hold a 4 to 3 lead in the bottom of the 7th. The team stole a total of 12 bases, including 2 steals of home - one on a failed suicide squeeze (missed bunt) and the second on a designed pickle with the trailing runner on second, that allowed the runner on third to score. Crushing doubles by Foote to the right center gap and Pavone high over the head of the left fielder and a long single by Coiro to the left field fence provided the fire power. And then a bomb of a homerun by Billy Taylor over ther centerfield fence demonstrated the power of this team's hitting. Pitching was very strong by Coiro, Ulloa, Granger and Foote. Our League record is 6 wins and 1 loss and expect to close the regular season next week. We expect to play Woodridge and Mahwah. The first 2 teams in the league will play off for the Championship the following weekend. GO BULLDOGS!!

Bulldogs Keep on Fighting in October
November 2, 2009 Since last reporting, the Bulldogs have have lost a non-league scrimmage to the OC Bombers and a league game to the Paramus Spartans. The team also managed to defeat in league games, Pascack Valley, NJ Nationals, and the Allendale Astros. In a Fall season that weather-wise resulted in many rainouts, we have managed to fair well at the 16U JV HS Division with a record of 5 wins and 1 loss. Not bad for a team comprised of 3 Sophs, 6 Freshman and 4 8th-graders. Overall, our Fall record is 8 wins and 4 losses. Expect to play over the next 2 or 3 weekends and then take a month off, before beginning our 2010 workouts in January. Well done Bulldogs!

Bulldogs Drop 2 to Jersey Boys in Middlesex
September 29, 2009 In a non-league doubleheader this past weekend, the Bulldogs had their worst showing all year. Their bats were silenced. And with the exception of a handful of nicely executed fielding plays, and one or 2 pitching performances, the team never was able to get it together. In the first game, they faced a very good pitcher, who mixed his location and speeds very well. He had tremendous control and limited the team to 3 hits and no runs. In the second game, things seemed promising in the early innings, but by the 5th inning the momentum had changed, pitching and defense fell apart and the Bulldogs were overwhelmed in defeat. On whole, a bad day. The promising thing is that all baseball teams have bad days, and in the past when the Bulldogs have, they have been able to change that around pretty quickly. We expect to do that this weekend when we travel to face the Orange County Bombers in New York on Saturday and Pascack Valley in Park Ridge on Sunday.

Bulldogs Fight Back and Defeat PBI Eagles
September 25, 2009 Last Sunday afternoon in the sunshine at St Joes High in Montvale, down 5 nothing in the first and 9 to 1 after 2 innings, the Bulldogs never gave up the fight, corrected their early inning fielding miscues and won the game in the 9th and final inning by a score of 15 to 14. The team fought to the end and down by 1 in the bottom of the ninth, tied the score on a walk to Pontone and a double by Lannigan. Ulloa came up to bat next and was intentionally walked (he had 4 doubles on the day and pitched the final 4 innings, not allowing a run in the final 3). With base runners on 2nd and 3rd, Granger was next up to bat and with one out he attempted 2 suicide squeeze bunts on consecutive pitches. Both attempts resulted in foul balls. He then stepped out of the box, gathered his confidence, and with the Eagle infield in, drove the ball right up the middle, scoring Lannigan to win the game.

Great game, great teamwork and no quit! Go Bulldogs!

Fall Season - Jersey Bulldogs Off and Running
September 15, 2009 The team is playing in the PBI JV High School Division. Since assembling, last month we are working hard and have had 2 preseason games - - winning both, vs the Ramapo Rangers and the Allendale Astros. We also kicked off our regular season this past Sunday at our new home field at St Joes HS in Montvale, NJ. We defeated the Wood Ridge HS team by a score of 10 to 0 in a no hit game. Coiro started and was brilliant, only letting one player get to first base in 4 innings of work. The runner was ultimately erased, after nearly getting picked off several times on a steal attempt of 2nd. Foote pitched the 5th, with a lead of 3 to 0, and only let up one base runner on a misplayed grounder to the mound. Offensively, hits were timely, base runners were moved when they had to be and the team exploded in the bottom of the 5th to score 7 more runs, with the game ending due to mercy rule.

    Well done Bulldogs!

    Fall 2009 Season Is Coming

    Austin Coiro #45 (Allendale)

    More information to come.

Bulldogs Finish 2009 Season on High Note
August 3, 2009 The Bulldogs finished their season by winning the PBI Elite Club Championship in a 2 game series against the Ramapo Rangers. The first game was won in the bottom of the 8th inning on Thursday July 30th on the turf in Hasbrouck Heights in a back and forth game and the second was played in Woodcliff Lake on Saturday August 1st won by the Bullodgs by a score of 13 to 8.

The following summarizes the season that began in March:

    * 63 games played resulting in an overall record 45 wins, 15 losses, 2 ties and 1 incomplete game.
    * Championship March Madness at Diamond Nation Tournament (Jack Cust)
    * First place finish in Spring PBI Elite Club (no playoffs in the Spring)
    * Championship PBI Elite Club Summer League
    * Top 4 team finish (semifinalist) in Mothers Day Tournament at Baseball Heaven in Long Island
    * Top 4 team finish (semifinalist) in Bergen County Charity Classic Memorial Day Tournament
    * Sports at the Beach Firecracker Tournament - played in Elite 8 and ended with overall 7th ranking of 30 teams participating in the Eastern region.
    * Played 35 different teams over the course of the season

We'd like to thank all of our players and their very supportive families for a terrific season. Every player contributed and improved. As coaches we are proud of their competitive desire and how they each got better, both individually and as a team. For the most part, the success of the season was attributed to our desire to not be out hustled.

Well done Bulldogs and see you in a few weeks when we kick off the Fall season, where we plan to play at the 15U level.

    Sincerely,

    Coaches Pavone, Avallone and Castro

    Bulldogs Split Extended Doubleheader
June 1, 2009 The Bulldogs played at 12:30 at Indian Hills HS vs the Ramapo Rangers and at 7:15 at Kennedy Field in Lodi vs the NJ Mariners South.

They won the first game in a slugfest by a score of 17 to 11, and lost the second game that was shortened by 1 inning due to light curfew by a score of 8 to 6. Foote, pitching for the Mariners threw a gutsy game, mixing his pitches well and holding the Bulldogs to only 6 hits. In the top of the sixth the Mariner third basemen snared a screaming line drive over his head and threw to second to complete a double play, snuffing out the Bulldogs momentum, which had begun in the previous inning, when they scored 3 runs to cut the lead.

The team's overall record stands at 22 wins and 6 losses, and its League Record is now 11 wins and 2 losses. Two games remain to be played in the league schedule, against the New Rochelle Tiger Sports.

Hitting this weekend was as follows:

    Castro 4 hits (2 2B)
    Sebastian 4 hits (2B, 3B)
    Pavone 3 hits (2B)
    Rima 2 hits (2B)
    Crabbe 2 hits
    Torcivia 2 hits
    Lannigan 2 hits
    Granger 2 hits
    Smith 1 hit (2B)

    Update
May 28, 2009 Apologies for not staying current,,,,,,but here is the latest:

Team is firmly set in First Place of PBI Elite Club League with a 10 and 1 record. Most recent games were against the Clarkstown Stars who were defeated on Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17 by scores of 5 to 4 and 2 to 1, respectively. Hitting for the weekend went as follows:

    Mazurek 3 hits
    Avallone 3 hits
    Torcivia 2 hits
    Smith 2 hits (2B)
    Lannigan 2 hit
    Pavone 1 hit
    Sebastian 1 hit (2B)
    Rima 1 hit (2B)

This past weekend the team competed in the Bergen County Charity Classic 13U Club Division and won their pool, going 3 wins and 1 loss, before losing in the semifinal game on Monday morning to the ultimate Champions, Fairfield Pirates. Hitting for the tournamanent went as follows:

    Pavone 8 hits (2B)
    Castro 6 hits (3 2Bs, 3B)
    Torcivia 5 hits (2B, HR)
    Rima 5 hits
    Crabbe 5 hits (2B)
    Smith 5 hits
    Stapleton 4 hits
    Lannigan 2 hits (HR)
    Sebastian 2 hits (HR)
    Fisco 2 hits (2B)
    Granger 2 hits (3B)
    Avallone 1 hit
    Rosenberg 1 hit

Gutsy performance by Jonathan Avallone, who played entire tournament while sick. His stellar defensive play at second base was as the kids say "SICK" or "RIDICULOUS". Most noteworthy was a play that saved the team in winning its POOL. With the tying run on 3rd with one out in the bottom of the last inning, the infield was drawn in. A hard grounder was hit well to the right of the drawn in Avallone, who made a back handed stab of the ball and in one fluid motion, threw a strike to Pavone at the plate for the tag out. Play was bang-bang. Next batter grounded weakly to the pitcher and the Bulldogs went on to defeat their next opponent (NJ Mariners North) by a score of 20 to 1 securing their spot in the semis.

Bulldogs Reach Semis But Come Up Short at Baseball Heaven
May 12, 2009 Team Akadema won their pool but lost in the semifinal game to the Bensalem Ramblers from Pennsylvania at Baseball Heaven. The tournament featured 12 teams in the 13U division, several of which were very talented. The better teams included the Long Island Hurricanes (who were the tournament champions), CT Dynasty and Xplosion (both clubs from Connecticutt).

The tournament was a terrific testing ground for our team, and with the exception of 2 poorly played innings during the 4 games played, the Bulldogs remained a force at the tournament. The team was 2 and 1 in pool play. Two wins were shut outs (a 2-hitter - Sebastian, Pavone, Smith and a no hitter by Fisco).

The Semifinal game had the team down 9 to 1 after the first inning, and Smith came in to pitch and held the Ramblers the rest of the way, only giving up one more run in the 2nd. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs chipped away producing 6 more runs, but ran out of gas in the top of the 7th.

    Tournament Hitting:

    Mazurek 6 hits (2 triples, 1 double, 3 rbi, 5 runs)
    Pavone 6 hits (1 double, 4 rbi, 5 runs)
    Fisco 4 hits (1 HR, 1 double, 7 rbi, 6 runs)
    Torcivia 4 hits (5 rbi, 4 runs)
    Rima 4 hits (4 rbi, 2 runs)
    Smith 3 hits (2 rbi, 2 runs)
    Granger 3 hits (2 rbi, 2 runs)
Sebastian 2 hits (triple, 2 rbi, 2 runs)
    Avallone 2 hits (1 rbi, 3 runs)
    Castro 2 hits (2 rbi, 4 runs)
    Crabbe 1 hit (2 rbi, 1 run)
    Lannigan 1 hit (1 rbi, 2 runs)

    Team Akadema Continues Winning Ways
May 4, 2009 The Bulldogs won their last 3 games - - on Thursday evening, defeating the Hanover Bluechips by a score of 18 to 8, on Saturday afternoon against the ECTB #2 NJ State ranked Teaneck Terminators by a score of 15 to 6 in a non-league game, and on Sunday in a driving rain in Hanover against the Bluechips by a score of 21 to 7.

This weekend, the team will be traveling to Baseball Heaven in Long Island to compete in the 2009 Long Island Spring Challenge. Hopefully the bats will stay hot and the pitching and defense will be strong enough to continue to play competively.

The overall record for the team stands at 14 wins and 1 loss.

The latest PBI 13U Elite Club league standings as of today:

    Bulldogs Poised to Resume Play
April 29, 2009 Team Akadema travels back to East Hanover to take on the Bluechips in 2 games. Thursday evening at 7:30 PM and Sunday at 12:00PM.

The team is also ready to face off against the Teaneck Terminators on Saturday afternoon at 5:00 PM at their home field in Bogota High School. As reported by NJ.com, the Terminators are currently ranked in second place among the NJ teams who are members of the ECTB. We are looking forward to the challenge.

    Go Bulldogs!!

Bulldogs Take 2 Games From Talented Mariners
April 28, 2009 The Bulldogs won two hard fought baseball games against the NJ Mariners South Team. The first was on Saturday at our home field in Woodcliff Lake by a score of 14 to 6 and the second on Sunday at the Mariners home field at Paramus Catholic HS by a score of 13 to 5. Both games were played much closer than the scores indicated. On Saturday, the Bulldogs entered the bottom of the 6th inning down 6 to 4, before the Bulldog bats exploded and the Mariner pitching could not regroup in time. On Sunday, the score was tied at 5 when the Bulldogs in the top of the 7th, crossed the plate 8 times, before Joey Fisco entered in the bottom of the 7th and after surrendering one baserunner, struck out the final 3 Mariners batters.

The games were incredibly well played games by both teams and featured many great defensive plays.

The bats remained hot through the weekend series:

    Castro (3 hits,RBI)
    Avallone (2 hits, 4 RBIs)
    Torcivia (4 hits, 6 RBIs)
    Fisco (1 hit, 2 RBIs)
    Crabbe (1 hit, 2 RBIs)
    Granger(1 hit)
    Pavone (3 hits, 4 RBIs)
    Rima (4 hits, 3 RBIs)
    Sebastian (4 hits, 2 RBIs)

And pitching was strong and deep enough to keep the Mariners hitters from mounting any last inning comeback.

Sebastian, Crabbe and Castro pitched on Saturday, surrendering 14 hits and 3 walks.

Torcivia, Pavone, Granger and Fisco pitched on Sunday, only surrendering one hit, and spreading 10 walks.

On both days, pitching was supported by some pretty terrific defensive plays, most notably coming from Avallone in the middle infield and Granger in the outfield.

Our season record to date stands at 11 wins and 1 loss.

    Keep playing hard!!!

    Bulldogs Split Results in Weekend
April 20, 2009 Team Akadema was one and one this past weekend, incurring their first loss of the season in New Rochelle, NY against Tiger Sports by a score of 13 to 3. While it could be said that the Bulldogs played flat, the fact of the matter was that the orange and black from NY were very athletic and knew how to get their bats on the ball with 10 hits including a home run and a triple. Usually "stand out" at defense, the Bulldogs made several errors on an uneven infield. There were many fielding chances and several very good plays as the team from New Rochelle routinely put the ball in play.

On the batting side, Luke Mazurek had 2 doubles, Tyler Pavone a triple and Alex Castro, Jonathan Avallone, and Greg Smith each had well hit singles. Six hits in total was not enough to mount any meaningful comeback.

Sunday morning the team drove out to Franklin Lakes to play the Ramapo Rangers at Indan Hills HS. The boys played as if Saturday was a long ago memory and resumed their winning ways by defeating the Rangers 8 to 5. The score seems closer than the game was actually played. Nick Torcivia returned to the lineup and pitched a brilliant 4 innings, giving up only 1 run, 2 singles, 2 walks and recording 5 srikeouts. Tyler Pavone followed the 5th, 6th and 2 batters into the 7th, before being removed after walking the first 2 batters of the 7th for Alex Castro who ended the game with a strikeout. Tyler did not let up any hits, struck out 2, walked 4 and was charged with 2 earned runs. Alex walked 2, let up 3 singles, and 2 earned runs and booked 2 strikeouts.

Offensively, Kevin Lannigan and Joey Fisco each had 2 singles, Greg Smith doubled and Alex Castro, Tyler Pavone, Nick Torcivia and Joe Crabbe each had hard hit singles. Two successful sacrifice bunts were executed by Tyler and Jeff Granger.

Next games are Saturday (25th) and Sunday (26th) at Woodcliff Lake and Paramus Catholic HS, respectively vs the NJ Mariners. Both games are set for 4PM starts. We expect these two games to be a great battle.

    Parents....thanks for your support!

Rain Stops and Bulldogs Win League Game vs Bluechips
April 16, 2009 Last night the rain may have ended, but not for Joey Fisco who rained bombs on the well coached Bluechips at their home field in Hanover. Joey went 4 for 4 with a grand slam, 2 triples, a double and a hit by pich in leading Team Akadema to a 16 to 5 win. Joey was well supported by the rest of his Bulldogs teammates. Tyler Pavone and Greg Smith enjoyed a multi-hit game - - both driving the ball well into the outfield gaps and Joe Crabbe and Jonathan Avallone each contributed timely rope style hits. Pitching depth continued to be the biggest strength of the team, like Greg Smith who stepped in to stop the momentum of the opponents by not allowing any runs in the 4th, 5th and 6th innings.

    Keep it up Bulldogs....

    Game 2 vs Rangers Rained-out
April 12, 2009 Yesterday's rainout is to be played on Sunday morning, April 19th in the morning at Indian Hills HS in Franklin Lakes. We will get you time and directions as soon as the exact time is confirmed.

Keep in mind that we have games scheduled this week as follows:

Wednesday (4/15) night at 7:30 in Hanover against Blue Chip Baseball (if rained out we may need to schedule for Friday or Saturday evening)

Saturday (4/18) at 1PM in New Rochelle, NY against Tiger Sports

Sunday (4/19) in the morning in Franklin Lakes against the Ramapo Rangers

We have Saturday night at 7PM still open on the schedule in Woodcliff Lake, NJ. We are leaving open for now in case of rainout of game on the 15th. At the very least, we will use the time and field for practice.

Enjoy the rest of your Holiday.

Bulldogs in Decisive Win Over Rangers 11 to 2
April 10, 2009 Team Akadema had their bats on fire tonight in a convincing win over the Ramapo Rangers on their home turf field in Franklin Lakes. The game saw triples by Luke Mazurek, Jeff Granger and Alex Castro, a home run by Nick Torcivia and another by Mazurek. Jonathan Avallone, Tyler Pavone, Granger, Austin Stapleton and Kevin Lannigan each contributed singles and Joe Crabbe had his best hitting game to date with 3 hard hit singles.

    Pitching for the Bulldogs:

    Torcivia 2 innings, 0 runs, 5 walks, 1 hit
    Crabbe 1 inning, 3 walks, 2 runs (1 earned), 1 K
    Smith 3 innings 0 runs, 4 Ks, 1 walk and 1 hit
    Granger 1 inning 0 runs, 1 K, 1 walk

    Defensive gems:

4-6-3 double play (Avallone, Crabbe, Mazurek)
F7-4-3 double play (Stapleton, Avallone, Mazurek)
Diving snare of a line drive by Granger in right field gap

The Bulldogs will face another challenge from the Rangers tomorrow night at our home field in Woodcliff Lake.

    Go Bulldogs!!!

April 6, 2009 Last night, the Bulldogs kicked off its regular season in Clarkstown, NY against the Stars. The win was an exciting one that culminated in scoring of 5 unearned runs in the top of the 7th inning by a team that just never quit. After getting the initial lead of 1 to 0 after 2 innings, supported by 2 innings of strong pitching from Noah Rosenberg (3Ks, 1 hit, no runs), the Bulldogs fell behind by a score of 4 to 1 in the bottom of the 3rd. Jim Granger came in to pitch the 3rd. He was uncharacteristically up in the strike zone, which allowed for 5 hits and 4 earned runs. Still, Granger recorded 2 Ks and 1 walk. In the top of the 4th, the Bulldogs chipped away and exhibited the character that they have as a team, scoring a run on only one hit, 2 errors and 2 walks. Down only 4 to 2 in the bottom of the 4th, Tyler Pavone came in to pitch the next 2 innings and did his job by not allowing any hits or runs. Pavone's control and his curve ball were sharp and resulted in 3 Ks, 2 groundouts and a pop-up to short. The only base runners were 2 who reached on back to back walks with one out in the 5th, with the Bulldogs now only down a run at 4 to 3. Next in to pitch was Alex Castro. Alex was just as sharp and threw hard the final 2 innings to close the game (3Ks, 1 hit, 2BBs). The first out of the 7th saw a brilliant charging shortstop play by the sure handed Johnny Avallone on a ground ball whose throw just beat the speedy Clarkstown hitter to first. AC then recorded 2 big strike outs of the number 4 and 5 hitters and closed the game to preserve the come from behind victory. Now for the rest of the story...The top of the 7th inning, the Bulldogs were down to their last out and nobody on - - and the no quit inning went like this - - Castro walked. Avallone hit by pitch. A passed ball moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd. Rosenberg was walked and that brought up Nick Torcivia. Torcivia hit the ball sharply to the shortstop, who could not make the play and Castro and Avallone scored the tying and go ahead runs, with the Torch safely standing on first base and Rosenberg on third. A passed ball had Rosenberg score the 3rd run of the inning, followed by an infield hit by John Sebastian (who also had a big hit in the first inning, having ripped a double over the outfielders' heads into the right center gap), moving Torch to 3rd. Sebastian stole 2nd and set up Greg Smith who ripped a single, scoring the Torch and Sebastian. Pavone was the final batter of the inning, who lined out hard to the left fielder. A great first win and we tip our hats to the team from Clarkstown who played every bit as hard. The Bulldogs will have to work even harder when they next face these Stars.

    Well done Bulldogs!!

Bulldogs Notch 2nd Victory at Jack Cust
    March 14, 2009

The Bulldogs out hit and out pitched the Flemington Titans and won the game by a score of 14 to 3. Only 5 innings could be played in the 2 hour time limit. The team batted .480 with 12 hits, 4 were very hard hit doubles. 4 pitchers were spread over the 5 innings, and held the Titans to 5 hits and only 3 runs. Pitchers struck out 8 and walked 7. Defensively, the team played cleanly and baserunning resulted in 9 stolen bases.

After 2 games, the Bulldogs are sitting as the 1 seed with one more game to go, next Saturday at the very early time of 8AM.

Bulldogs Open With Victory At Cust
March 8, 2009 The Bulldogs won their first game at the March Madness Tournament at Jack Cust Baseball Academy, by a score of 10 to 5 against the Upper Moreland Bears out of Pennsylvania.

    Current standings follow:

    March Madness Tournament 13U Standings
    W L T PF PA PTS
    1. NJ Mariners 13U South 1 0 0 18 2 3
    2. Team Akadema Bulldogs 1 0 0 10 5 3
    3. Tri-Township Titans White 1 0 0 6 1 3
    5. Upper Moreland Bears 0 1 0 5 10 0
    4. Tri-Township Titans Black 0 1 0 1 6 0
    6. Power Time Titans 0 1 0 2 18 0

Six Bulldog pitchers were used in the 6 inning game, limiting the Bearcats to only 19 at bats, while recording 13 strikeouts and only letting up 3 hits. Several walks late in the game contributed to the runs scored by the opponents, but the deep pitching staff, cut any potential threat.

Hitting-wise, the Bulldogs batted .300, going 9 for 30, with 6 doubles. All players contributed in a great team effort - - by getting the bat on the ball - - moving the runners and taking advantage of Bearcat fielding errors. The team also demonstrated their aggressive base running with eight stolen bases.

Defensively the Bulldogs made all the plays, including a diving snare of a line drive at short stop, a well executed 6-4-3 double play, and another save of a double play with the bases loaded that included an unassisted tag play by the shortstop, and while an overthrown ball to first allowed a run to score, the ball was quickly brought into play and the hitter was caught in a successfully executed run-down play between first and second.

Next game is Saturday March 14th at 10:00 AM, vs the Power Time Titans.

The final game before seeding is Saturday March 21st with a very early 8AM start. Playoffs for the top four teams are on Saturday March 28th.

    Well done Bulldogs!

Background on Our Club Baseball Fees
January 23, 2009 The range of cost to play club baseball is wide and varies from club to club. The determination of the amount a club charges depends on what is included in the cost, such as whether the team will be playing locally, attending out of state tournaments or some combination. Parents should find out all they can about the cost to play for any club their child participates and reconcile whether the cost is in line with what the team is expecting to accomplish in a given year. Our club is somewhat unique in that we have very qualified baseball people coaching our kids on a volunteer basis. Most of our coaches in our club have played baseball at a collegiate or higher level and have been coaching youth sports for many years. Several are even school teachers, who are of course professionally trained in instructing young people. As a result, the cost of playing with the Bulldogs may in fact be less than some of our competitors.

The cost of our team’s player registration for 2009 is just under $1,000 per player. This amount covers team registration fees for several out of state tournaments, local league team registration fees, insurance, baseballs, field maintenance supplies, uniforms, and umpires. The total amount of Player Registration Fees collected will be used in their entirety for the benefit of the 2009 team.

It should also be noted that our 2009 Player Registration Fee does not cover the cost of training, travel, lodging and meals. These costs are picked up by each player, as they are incurred. Where we can, we leverage our contacts to do our best to ensure that these costs are economical.

Any other questions regarding this topic should be referred to bobpavone@aol.com.

    Preparation for 2009 Season
October 22, 2008 The 13U Jersey Bulldogs are in process of organizing its program for the 2009 season. Aligned with Mark Cieslak's Jersey Bulldogs North Baseball Club, we remain committed to providing a competitive youth baseball experience for players who are seeking to elevate their game. We are very proud of our relationship with Akadema's ProPlayers in Hawthorne New Jersey. In addition to the personal instruction that many of our players receive from Coaches Dan Gilligan, Bobby Frassa, and Keith Stamler, the entire Bulldog Club will be training Sunday evenings from January to March 2009 at 7PM at their training facility. Given our close affiliation with their organization, they have allowed us to compete under the moniker "Team Akadema Bulldogs".

Our players come from many towns across New Jersey as well as New York and Pennsylvania. They all share a common love for the game and strong desire to learn to play it the way it was meant to be played. Our coaches are dedicated to teaching the game and instilling a sense of Bulldog Pride in everyone of our players. Our parents are very supportive and appreciate the sacrifices that are made to enable such a special experience for their sons.

A listing of our most recent accomplishments follows:

    CERBO Fall 2007 12U 50/70 Champions
CERBO Spring 2008 12U 50/70 Saturday League Champions
2008 Sports at the Beach, DE - 12U March Madness Champions
2008 Bergen County Charity Classic 12U 50/70 Champions
    * Homerun Derby Champion (Carter Toth)
2008 Cooperstown Dreams Park NATC Week
    * Around the Horn Plus Champions
    * King of Swat Champion (Matt Thaiss)
    * Record of 8 wins and 1 loss
    * Achieved 8 seed in pool play and made it to Sweet 16 of 98 teams

Also in August, ten of our players joined with several players from the Teel Ravens, and under manager Lou DiChiaro and coaches Joe Purritano and Mike Ward, they competed during the 10th week at Cooperstown Dreams Park and made it to the Championship Game on Thursday night. It was quite a run, but in the end the "Ravens" lost to a very strong team from Chicago. Achieving a 2nd place finish at this tournament series out of 98 teams from across the country was quite an accomplishment. I think this is the highest level that a team from New Jersey has ever achieved at this park.

Recently, 5 of our players joined with 6 of the club's new 14 year olds and competed at the Columbus Day Tournament at Sports at the Beach DE in the 14U division (60/90) and went 5 wins and no losses in winning the championship.

Please keep a look out for important information about our team and club.
