Fury 98 win Discovery Cup! October 10, 2010
In a game that was likely to generate the Discovery Cup champion
for the division, the Fury 98 started the 2010 against a fast and strong FC
Sting Charge. After both teams battling to a 0-0 draw, the tournament got
very interesting for the Fury 98. Both the FC Sting and the Fury 98 went
on to win their second games 3-0. The second game then ended in a tie for
first place through the first three tie-breakers and leaving the likelihood that
the bracket winner be decided in kicks from the penalty mark. However, the
Fury 98 did not allow a single goal to be scored upon them in pool play and that
hard work led to their entry into the tournament final.
The Fury 98 faced an eager and physical West Chester Predator team
from Pennsylvania in the final game. Twice the Fury 98 battled back from
being behind to end regulation time tied with the Predators 2-2. Both
teams battled through overtime and the Fury found themselves in a shootout to
determine the tournament championship. The Fury 98 girls rose to the
challenge and defeated the Predators in PKs to be crowned 2010 Under 12 Girls
Gold Champions.
Fury 98 Threepeat at FC Delco Players' Cup May 31, 2010
The Albertson Fury 98 persevered in the Memorial
Day heat to defeat the YMS Xplosion and win their third straight FC
Delco Players' Cup.
After winning all three of their preliminary games, the Fury 98 faced
the Ohio Premier Green Dublin in the semi-finals. After going up 4-1
early in the second half, the Fury held on to win 4-3 and advance to the
finals.
Monday's final would pit the Fury 98 against the YMS Xplosion. The game
was a back and forth battle that ended regulation time tied 0-0. After
two scoreless overtime periods the game went to kicks from the penalty
mark. The Fury girls really shined, putting four straight penalty shots
into the back of the net while only conceding one to YMS to secure the
championship for a third year in a row!
