Region 7AAAA Traditional Tournament
On February 5 and 6, 2010 the Region 7AAAA Traditional Wrestling Tournament will be hosted by Allatoona High School in Acworth, GA. We will strive to conduct a well run tournament that will prove to be the best you have attended. In this, we asked that all coaches submit information early and cooperate with us to make sure the tournament runs on time and accurately. We also ask that each head coach submit the names of their assistants along with other personnel you plan to bring. Below are some of the important dates that you should mark on your calendars. In addition, be assured that a contingency plan will be made in the event of weather. Most likely, the GHSA will form a plan that will be in effect for the entire state.
Entry fee: set by GHSA
$7.00 per session, $14.00 tournament pass available on Friday
We will not run 3 sessions and will avoid clearing the gym for the finals. Therefore, there will not be a discounted price for a 2 day pass (per GHSA). GHSA does not recognize student rates; all entry is $7 per session.
Schedule of events: Please note that wrestling times are approximate, if we can run ahead of schedule we will. It is our desire to get all teams out early on Friday night to return home.

3:00pm – Teams arrive and report to main gym.
3:15pm – First 3 weight classes will be called to prepare for weigh-in
3:20pm to 3:30pm – Weigh-ins will begin
4:00pm to 4:30pm – Coaches dinner in Hospitality Room.
4:15pm to 4:35pm – Coaches meeting in Hospitality Room.
Wrestling Schedule:
4:45pm to 6:45pm – Championship Round 1 (Round of 16) (4 mats)
6:45pm to 8:30pm – Championship Round 2 (Quarterfinals) (4 mats)
Weigh-outs – each weight class will be called – 1 hour to report from time called
Alternate morning weigh-outs - Contestant cannot step into weigh-in area if they are exercising this option. Tournament director must be notified if wrestler(s) are opting for a morning weigh-in.

Allatoona Wins the Black Flag!
Allatoona's varsity wrestling team wins the Black Flag in the annual "Black Flag Dual" with East Paulding High School. Allatoona won the dual 43 to 34 in a hotly contested match with the Raiders of East Paulding. Congratulations also go to our junior varsity for 8 of the 11 JV matches and to a dominating performance by our youth program over East's middle school and youth wrestlers.
Allatoona is currently 12-4 on the season and will travel to The McCallie Powerade Invitational in Chattanooga, TN this weekend (Dec. 18-19). This is considered the toughest tournament in the south with teams traveling from SC, TN, and GA to compete.
Allatoona Varsity Finishes 4th at Creekview Invitational
In our first individual tournament of the year our wrestlers were able to finish 4th overall, our highest ever finish in an individual tournament.
We crowned two champions and 6 overall placers.
Nick Christakis won the 112 lbs. weight class with a dominating performance. Nick did not give up a point during the entire tournament and pinned every opponent in the 1st period.
Luke Rakes won the 160 lbs. weight class while being equally dominate. Luke gave up only one score throughout the tournament and won the Most Outstanding Wrestler award for upper weights.
Also placing and helping lead our team to a top 4 finish were:

Chris Morrison - 3rd at 171 lbs.
Bryson Brindle - 3rd at 215 lbs.
Cameron Sockwell - 6th at 285 lbs.

Congratulations to our Middle School team for a great performance at the Collins Hill Middle School Duals.

Allatoona Varsity fought to a 3rd place finish at the Crossbone Duals at East Paulding High School. Our wrestlers earned victories against Paulding county, Rockdale County, North Paulding and Woodland(Henry Co.).

Allatoona JV Takes 1st place in the JV Crossbone Duals. Our wrestlers earned victories over Rockdale, Paulding, Cherokee, and Douglas County on their way to an undefeated day and the JV Championship.
Fernando Gomez, Bobby Lunsford and Luke Miller lead the way with key victories to secure the wins in a hard fought battle with Rockdale to ensure a place in the finals of the tournament.
Great effort for the entire program! Congratulations Bucs!
Dual Results - Osborne and North Paulding
December 2, 2009
The Buccaneer wrestling team dominated last night at North Paulding High School. Our Varsity wrestlers began the night by beating Osborne 70 to 3. We gained the victory with 11 pins and 1 major decision. The Buccaneer wrestlers followed that win up with a 70 to 9 dismantling of North Paulding. In this win, we also had 11 pins and 1 major decision. In addition, our junior varsity dominated both Osborne and North Paulding.
Come out and support Allatoona Wrestling next week as we host Sprayberry, Hiram and Paulding County at home next Wednesday. Wrestling will start at 5:30.

We had a great tournament and our team did a wonderful job. We were in every dual, Parkview was close for the majority of the dual and they pulled away winning the last 3 matches by pin. The Jackson County dual came down to the last match, as did the Blessed Trinity Dual.

Youth Wrestling
Now that the high school season has begun, we will have practices from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
We have 50+ wrestlers in the youth program and the practices have been going very well. We have some of the best coaching in the county and we feel confident this will result in successful seasons for all of our youth wrestlers.

We use email to inform our parents and wrestlers about important events, travel arrangements, schedule changes, cost of operation, booster club needs and meetings and many other items where mass communication is needed.

Booster Club Meeting

Our next booster club meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 4th at 6:30pm in room 2202 (Coach Lanier's room). This meeting is very important as we will begin the process of organizing plans for the season and detailing all needs for the program. Please continue to check this website for updated information. Continue to check with local businesses for sponsorship opportunities and feel free to email questions to Clare Mieszala or Coach Lanier.
This is the most important meeting of the year! Please make plans to attend and pay the uniform and operational fees for high school wrestlers. We will discuss expectations and guidelines as well as answer any questions parents and booster club members may have.
Sign Up for Gas South Service and Support Allatoona Athletics
Gas South
We will receive $12 per person (new or existing) that goes to the site and uses the code to support Allatoona Athletics. We will also receive $1 per month/per customer for the length of time that customer remains with Gas South.
