2012 ATB Preliminary Tryout Information
October 21, 2012 – 10:00 AM —
BELOW IS INFORMATION CONCERNING ATB TRYOUTS - MORE DETAILED AND COMPREHENSIVE INFORMATION CONCERNING TRYOUTS SHOULD BE CLOSELY REVIEWED AND IS AVAILABLE IN "FORMS/HANDOUTS" UNDER "2012 ATB TRYOUT INFORMATION".
ATB TRYOUT OVERVIEW
1. TRYOUT DETAILS AND ONLINE REGISTRATION
Tryouts for all teams are open and players must register online and send a payment of $350 made payable to "Allendale Travel Baseball". ATB players are encouraged to participate in ARC baseball especially at the ages of 10 and below. Playing ARC baseball is not mandatory to playing ATB.
Online Registration
Players intending on trying out for any ATB team must register online by November 15th on this site on the left had side under Tryout Registration where you see the double yellow arrows. PAYMENT is also due along with registration. Checks should be made payable to “Allendale Travel Baseball” in the amount of $350 and also be received by November 15, 2011 if your player is intending to tryout. Families with a second or third player trying out for an ATB team will only have to send a check for $295 for each of the second and third immediate family member. All checks (please note age group on check) should be mailed to Brian Schwartz at 21 Green Way, Allendale N.J. First year ATB player should also bring two copies of birth certificate to the tryout.
Payments will only be refunded for those players who tryout and do not make an ATB team.
If your child played for a travel team in the past, we are asking that NO hats or shirts reflecting this be worn to the tryouts. Only non-descript clothing from ARC or their favorite team can be worn.
PLAYERS WHO DO NOT REGISTER ONLINE BY NOVEMBER 15TH AND FAIL TO SUBMIT A CHECK BY NOVEMBER 15TH WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TRYOUT AND ASSUMED NOT PLAYING FOR ATB.
2. TIMING AND LOCATIONS
Each team will hold tryouts on two different days. Tryouts are going to be scheduled for late Fall, early winter so please monitor email and the ATB website.
3. TRYOUOT ELIGIBILITY AND ATB COMMITMENT
In order to be eligible to tryout for one of the summer ATB teams, every player must acknowledge, along with rest of the family, the commitment of time to play travel baseball. It is expected that every Allendale Travel Baseball team will be practicing or playing games for 5-6 days a week from May through late July. Younger teams may begin practicing earlier. Attendance at games is mandatory and attendance for ATB takes precedent over any other sport you may have your child signed up for. Games will be rescheduled on short notice and it is expected that every effort is made to attend. Teams may play in tournaments over the Memorial Day holidays and may have games or practices scheduled over the July 4th weekend. Unfortunately, vacations will not be feasible during this time span. By completing the online registration, the player and family are acknowledging this commitment. In addition, every player will be required to participate in ATB's annual fundraising event which includes selling raffle tickets.
IMPORTANT NOTE:In the event that an ATB team is unable to field a team with the required number of committed players, a special exception can be granted by the ATB board to open up the tryouts to players from other towns. Travel teams must show that there is a legitimate need before recruiting players outside of Allendale. Players from other towns who have previously played in ATB will not need a special exception. In addition, players and parents who have made the commitment but subsequently miss games and practices may be asked to leave the program.
4. AGE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
ATB recognizes the following age eligibility requirements which have been adopted by the AABC:
Team Earliest Birth Date to Latest Birth Date
14s May 1, 1997 to April 30, 1998
13s May 1, 1998 to April 30, 1999
12s May 1, 1999 to April 30, 2000
11s May 1, 2000 to April 30, 2001
10s May 1, 2001 to April 30, 2002
9s May 1, 2002 to April 30, 2003
8U May 1, 2003 and after
*Rather than field a 7 year old team, the ATB board has decided again to allow all players born after May 1, 2003 to tryout for the 8 year old team. ATB will determine based on the turnout whether or not two 8 year old teams will be formed. If there are a sufficient number of players to form two teams and a qualified head coach is available, the players will be split based on their skills and current ability.
CHANGE FOR 2012 SEASON:
All players must tryout for the ATB team based on their birth date (herein referred to as “Age Team”). Beginning in the 2012 season, an exception will be offered to certain players currently in elementary school (grades K-6). Players currently in elementary school (grades K-6) who are young for their grade (i.e. born between May 1 and October 1), will be allowed to tryout for the team one age older than their “Age Team”. The purpose of offering this exception is to give these children an opportunity to play for a team that more closely corresponds with their grade (herein referred to as their “Grade Team”). For example, a fifth grader who based on their birth date is required to tryout for the 10 year old team (“Age Team”) but born between May 1, 2001 and October 1, 2001 is now given the option to tryout for the 11 year old team (“Grade Team”).
We expect that the number of players participating in ATB will continue to grow as it did this past season. If this is the case, we expect that there could be more than one team at some levels. This will be determined after sign-ups.
Please refer to the "2012 ATB TRYOUT INFORMATION" under "FORMS/HANDOUTS" for more details concerning tryouts.
