Justin Schroeder pitched a complete game shutout against the Winsted Wilcats in Saturday evenings game. Schroeder gave up on three hits in his seven innings of work while only walking two and striking out six. Schroeder also led the Chuckers in hits going 3-4 with a double and RBI. Also getting hits for the Chuckers were Jeff Peterson (1-3), Jacolby Anderson (1-4), Matt Tanner (1-4), Brian Kingery (1-4), and Josh Cunningham (1-4). The Chuckers improved their record to 14-4 (5-1 County Line) on the year.
The Cold Spring Rockies outhit the Chuckers 10-5 in Saturday afternoons game in Howard Lake. The Rockies beat the Chuckers by a score of 10-4. Leading the Chuckers in hits was Matt Tanner who was 2-3 on the day. Also getting hits were Jeff Peterson, Zach Cunningham, and Matt Lilleberg. Jacolby Anderson was tagged with the loss pitching 5 1/3 innings while giving up four hits, five walks, and striking out eight. Vance Martin went 1 2/3 inning in relief.
The Chuckers are currently 10-3 (4-1 in the County Line) after picking up three big league victories over Starbuck, Spicer, and Regal. The Chuckers bats have been heating up as of late, taking pressure off of the pitchers. The Chuckers look to improve their record this week as they travel to Bird Island to take on the Bullfrogs Wednesday night and finish up the week by playing host to St. Nicolas on Saturday at 6pm and Norway Lake Sunburg on Sunday. The Atwater Chuckers picked up their second win of the season in their home opener last Sunday improving their record to 2-0. The Chuckers shut out Kensington 8-0. Jacolby Anderson started on the mound, allowing one hit and striking out nine before lefty Justin Schroeder came in and picked up the win. Finishing out the game were BJ Kingery in the eighth and Jordan Tanner the ninth. The Chuckers bats combined for 8 hits on the day with two coming from each Kingery and Jordan Tanner. Also getting hits were Justin Schroeder, Zach Cunningham, Matt Tanner, and Ryan Walsh. You can see the Chuckers in action next Sunday at 1:30 as they square off in their first league game against Regal.
The Chuckers opened up the 2012 season with a 9-2 win over Brownton on Sunday. Jordan Tanner lead the team in hitting going 3-3 on the day. Ryan Walsh connected for two hits while BJ Kingery and Jocolby Anderson both had 2 RBI's. Pitching for the Chuckers were Justin Schroeder, Jacolby Anderson, BJ Kingery and Jordan Tanner. The Chuckers continue play with their home opener next Sunday when they play host to Kensington. First pitch is slated for 2:30pm!
The Atwater Baseball Association would like to thank all that helped with the Spring Dinner and Silent Auction. It was once again a huge success. The Chuckers season gets underway on April 22, 2012 when they will travel to Brownton for their opening day. Game time is 2:00.
