Roxborough Review
Thoughts of the Day
"Anybody can quit. It’s exactly what your adversaries or competitors hope you will do, and there’s always a legitimate excuse. But have faith; hang in there. Stay in touch with your dream and commitment. Remember that your resources are always far deeper and far greater than you ever imagine them to be. You got yourself this far. Down deep you’ve got what it takes to go the distance.”
“Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did.” ~ Newt Gingrich
“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”
“Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.”

The lottery ticket fundraiser was a big success. Thanks for your support!
Pocono Tournament Update
It was apparent we were one of the youngest teams in the tournament. Although we did not win, the boys held their own. We saw some amazing talent and witnesses what practicing together for a year or more can do for a team. The atmosphere was amazing and the home run derby was very exciting.
Hopefully, the boys will use this as a learning experience; practice makes perfect.
We are looking forward to participating in another tournament sometime in the near future.
Thank you to the the Gillard, McTamney and Melady families, for opening up their homes to members of the team and their familes during the Pocono Tournament this weekend!
Please click on the Handouts section of this website and read the 2010 Roxborough Bandits July 2009 Newsletter. Check back each month to read the last newsletter; articles written in the players own words and a note from our manager and/or coaching staff. As always, we appreciate your support.

Donation Requests
The 2010 Roxborough Bandits are a baseball team consisting of 12 year old boys representing the 21st Ward Junior League. They plan to travel to Cooperstown, New York in the summer of 2010 to play at the “The Field of Dreams”, Cooperstown Dreams Park.
This will be an excellent opportunity for the boys to play in one of the most prestigious tournaments in the country. It also affords them the opportunity to enrich their education by visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame and interacting with other players from other parts of the country.
The cost for each child to attend this event is approximately $1,000. This includes travel, as well as room and board. To lessen the financial burden on the parents, we are seeking donations from the greater Philadelphia community.
The Roxborough Bandits respectfully request a donation to enable these young men to participate in the Cooperstown series. If you are able to make a contribution, checks should be made payable to the “2010 Roxborough Bandits”. Your generosity would allow these children to represent the 21st Ward as a team. This will be a chance of a lifetime for many of these young, city athletes.
