It's that time again! Harundale Basketball is getting ready for a fun & exciting 2009-2010 season of Intramural and County Leagues!
2009-2010 Basketball Registration
General registration for the 2009-2010 season is now closed.
Additional Registration Days for 13 - 17 year old boys will be held on Monday and Tuesday, November 23rd and 24th in the Gym Lobby at Corkran Middle School.
Completing the HYSL Registration Form in advance & having your payment ready will help to make registration quick & easy.
2009-2010 Registration Fees
Registration fees are collected in order to pay for uniforms, referees, basketballs, trophies, tournaments, etc. Unpaid league fees affect every child participating in the HYSL Basketball program. Therefore, fees MUST be collected at the time of registration.
This year's per person fees are as follows:
$80 - Intramural Leagues (5/6 Co-Ed, 7/8 Co-Ed, 9/10 Boys, 11/12 Boys and 13/15 Boys)
$160 - County Leagues (*8 year old Boys, *8 year old Girls, 10/u Boys, 10/u Girls, 12/u Boys, 12/u Girls, 14/u Boys, 14/u Girls and 17/u Boys)
$40 - 4 Year Old Clinic
Age eligibility is determined by the child's age as of September 1st, 2009 with the following exception:
*A child MUST be 8 years old in order to participate in any County League and must turn 8 by December 1st in order to participate.
All Girls Leagues (age 8 and above) will participate in the County League and will be charged the County League fees.
Boys playing in the County League must also play in the Intramural League and therefore will be charged both the Intramural and County League fees.
Uniforms will NOT be distributed to any participant who has not paid the registration fees in full.

Evaluations for the remaining Intramural teams will be held as follows:
INTRAMURAL PROGRAM
5/6 Mon 11/30 6:30pm RHLee
13/15 Tues 12/1 7:30pm Corkran
COUNTY TEAM TRYOUTS
9/10 Boys Monday 11/23 6:00 pm @ Corkran
8 year old Boys Tuesday 11/24 6:00 pm @ Corkran
All persons interested in coaching a team MUST be present during the above scheduled evaluation time and must complete a background check form (see below for further information). Teams will be drafted following the evaluations.
What Does HYSL Basketball Offer?
HYSL offers intramural and county league basketball programs for youth 5 -17 years of age. An instructional clinic is also offered for 4 year olds interested in learning basic basketball skills. Intramural games will be played at Richard Henry Lee Elementary School, Glendale Elementary School, Marley Elementary School, Corkran Middle School and/or Glen Burnie High School.
Next General Membership Meeting
The next HYSL General Membership Meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 7:00 PM in the Cafeteria at Corkran Middle School. This is a time to ask questions, learn what's happening within the organization and to show your support for the many volunteers working to make HYSL a better organization for our youth!
Are you interested in Coaching???
Coaches are needed for ALL age groups! All volunteers interested in coaching must complete a background check form and receive clearance before stepping on to the court. Background checks are completed through AA County Dept. of Rec & Parks. Background check clearance is valid for 3 years. When your clearance expires, you must submit a new form if you'd like to continue coaching. Forms should be submitted to AA County Dept. of Rec & Parks through Rudy Brown. Please let us know asap if you can help the league & the kids by volunteering to coach - it is a very rewarding experience!
If you are interested in coaching a County Team ALL youth head coaches in County sponsored leagues are initially required to attend a Coaches Certification Clinic prior to beginning their second year of coaching. A coaches initial certification is valid for 3 years, at which time the coach must be re-certified.

County Forms
Youth Player Contract & Youth Player Release Form pdf Format
Youth Player Contract must be completed by each youth player and their parent. This form includes player's agreement, tobacco free sports promise and code of conduct plus the parent's pledge, parent's code of conduct and parent's permission.
Youth Player Release form must be completed and attached to the Youth Player Contract with the new organization in order for the contract to be valid.

HYSL Hosted its 6th Annual Invitational Tournament!
Harundale Youth Sports League hosted its 6th Annual Invitational Tournament. More than 60 Boys, Girls and Co-Ed teams participated in this very competetive tournament. A portion of all Team Registration fees is being donated to Recreation Deeds for Special Needs (a nonprofit Friends & Family organization established to provide camp scholarships, adaptive equipment, training and volunteer support to people with disabilities). We hope that all participants enjoyed the experience!
