RED HOT BLAZERS END FALL SEASON WITH CONSECUTIVE TOURNAMENT VICTORIES!
December 15, 2007
The Blazers ended their Fall 2007 Season, "red-hot",with consecutive USSSA tournament victories, winnning the Winter Bash the first weekend in December, and then two weeks, later winning the Polar Bear Classic. Under the helm of new manager, Brian Rumsey, The Blazers ended their 13u season, 12-4 in USSSA tournaments, and 16-5 for the season. The Blazers were ranked fifth in the USSSA Northern California Power Rankings for major teams. Below is a recap of the Fall Tournament Season.
NOR CAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS AT TWIN CREEKS
The Blazers began the season in October, at the Northern California State Championships, and drew a opening day against Hard 90 and the Starmaker Stallions. The Blazers went 1-1, on Saturday, with a big victory over the Stallions, the nation's number one. But finished the tournament 2-1, in the consolation bracket,by beating the Lookouts.
HOLIDAY CLASSIC AT TWIN CREEKS
The Blazers had high hopes, entering their second tournament, the first week of November, but ended 2-2 with two,one run losses to Lights Out. However, the Blazers showed improvement, with a come from behind victories over the Head First Gamers and a dramatic last at bat win versus Nor Cal Sting.
SUPER SERIES QUALIFIER AT MANTECA
The Blazers traveled to Manteca, to play in the newest Dreams Park facility, the weekend before Thanksgiving, and entered a Super Series Qualifier. On Saturday, the Blazers went 2-0, and were one out away, from the number one seed, but gave up two runs, to fall to the third seed. This lapse, had a serious impact on the Sunday Schedule as the Blazers played the Hard 90 and the Muckdogs back to back games, and then had to play an even tougher opponent in the Sting Outlaws, again without a break. The victories over Hard 90 and the Muckdogs, were both come from behind victories against some of the toughest pitching in the 13u division. The Blazers ran out gas, but ended up 4-1, with a second place finish.
WINTER BASH
Playing in their only open tournamant of the season the Blazers won their first tournament of the season. In route to a perfect 5-0 record,The Blazers dominated the Sunday games, with scores of 8-0, 14-1,and 12-0!The Blazers tradmark of domninant pitching was on display, but also, this team showed a new facet, a power surger throughout the batting order.
Polar Bear Classic at Twin Creeks
the Blazers finished their Fall season, in a appropriately named tournament, the Polar Bear Classic at Twin Creeks. In very windy and chilly conditions,The Blazers outpitched the 2006 Winter Super Series Champions, the California Sliders in a Saturday pool play game, 6-2
and then came back on Sunday, and pounded the Sliders, 10-5 in the Championship game.

BLAZERS SNARE FIRST TOURNAMENT OF THE 2007 SEASON WITH OUTSTANDING PITCHING!
For the third straight tournament, the Blazer pitching staff was outstanding, allowing a total of four runs in two pool games and the two qualifying games in the chanpionship round. The Blazers had lope-sided victories against SV Express, the Monterey Pirates and the Desert Cats from Nevada. In the Semi- final game, we faced a tough team, the East Bay Pirates, and again, we shut down a potent lineup with great pitching and defense. Our offense throughout the batting order battered a top pitcher, for a convincing 6-1 victory. In the champinship game, the Blazers faced the Bay Area Sliders, a break away team from the Head First Gamers, with a lineup that featured some of the top hitters in the 12u major division. The Blazers won a slugfest, 12-7, and the game ended when a Slider batter hit a screaming line drive at Gabe Katich on the mound, who snared the ball, near his "medulla amblegada", to end the game, and help the Blazers snare their first tournament of the year.
CONGRATULATIONS BLAZERS! COOPERSTOWN HERE WE COME!
