Bayside High School Football is a member of the Public School Athletic League, which is in Section 12 in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.

Common Questions about the Commodores

In 1962, Coach Neal Nelson and his coaching staff started the Football Program, with the 1st season was at the Junior Varsity level. Within 4 seasons the Commodores won their first Varsity City Championship, and have won 7-City Championships in 46 years Varsity Seasons.
A Commodore is a commissioned naval officer who ranks above a captain and below a rear admiral.
The Commodore offense is led by Coach Dyckman, and uses multiple shotgun formations. 4 and 5 Wide Reciever packages and a mainly passing offense was the norm in 2008.The offense ran 370 plays, with 265 passing plays being called.
The Commodore defense is led by Coach Wysocki, and uses a 3-5-3 defense. The base alignment are 3 defensive lineman, 3 inside linebacker & 2 outside linebacker/safety types, and 3 Defensive backs. Multiple alignments and blitzing from all positions is very common. The 2008 Commodore defense had 2 shut-outs and 3 games only allowing 6 points.
