After 25 years of volunteering, Coach Nissim Leon gets honored by the City Of Los Angeles. At the age of 19, Nissim set out to bring organized football and cheer to Boyle Heights. With the financial assistance of El Tepeyac's owner, Manuel, Nissim began an all volunteer organization that has thrived for over 25 years. On July 26, Councilman Huizar and the City of Los Angeles recognized Nissim for an exemplary effort to create a positive culture for the youth of Boyle Heights. Today, the Boyle Heights Wolfpack consistently serves over 250 boys and girls from Boyle Heights.
The Boyle Heights Wolfpack Program is a non profit organization that attempts to help the children of Boyle Heights break the vicious cycle of violence that has continued in our community for years. Our mission is to keep these children off the streets, while teaching them the fundamentals of football/cheer, teamwork, competition, leadership, and to give them a sense of pride in their community. The Boyle Heights Wolfpack strongly encourages academics and demands that all our participants maintain at least a "C" average in school. The program was founded in 1988 by Nissim Leon. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Nissim and many other individuals, we have been able to serve over 250 boys and girls.
