Colts Win Again!
January 26, 2012 — The Colts won their second game in a row at home in Springhill Saturday defeating Clare 2-1. Barron earned his fifth goal in a two game point streak and new goaltender Neil Kelly earned his 2nd win in two starts. This puts us 2 points behind idle Fundy for third in the race for playoff positions. The whole team played their roles perfect again and the coaching staff is proud of their players efforts and look forward to this weekend as the Colts travel to Clare on Saturday for an 8:15pm rematch and then Sunday to Barrington to take on the Ice Dogs at 2:30pm. With only four games left in the regular season the Colts hope to build momentum going into what will be a hard fought first round playoff series no matter who we face.

Red Hot Barron Opens Goal Pouch and Leads Colts to 4-3 Win
January 16, 2012 — Colts split home games but come off on positive note. Andrew Barron found the back of the net 4 times Sunday to lead the Colts past the River Rats 4-3 after coming off a disappointing 2-1 loss to the Wild. New comers Neil Kelly, Kevin Irshwood, and Devon Swinkles all made an instant impact and all 20 players put forth their best efforts. "The coaching staff is very proud of them all, 20 players contributed to Sundays win, every kid has a role on this team and they all played it to a tee." Says Coach Paul Atkinson, "we still have some work to do in our own end and on the PP but, whoever we meet in the playoffs we will be ready for. The Clippers and Attack have not been pushed yet and they will have to be ready for a tough series. I have confidence that with good goaltending - which we have received from Jordan Giao and Neil Kelly - that both teams can be upset. The pressure will be on them and we will see how they react."

Its a New Year
January 10, 2012 — Its a new year and the Colts' resolution was to play a more disciplined game...so far so good! They played the Ice Dogs Saturday night winning 3-1 but Sunday in Avon they lost 4-3 and gave up two short handed goals. Newly acquired goaltender Giao stood on his head in both games and held the teams close. The Colts played both games without getting any penalties in the first game. "That's the type of discipline we're looking for, there was no chirping and got out of the pushing and shoving " said head coach Paul Atkinson. This type of thing has added to our rough times and this type of stuff is over, Discipline and Hard work here on in will prepare us for the playoffs , and that is what our #1 goal is , be prepared to face whoever comes our way in the first round.

The Colts Play South Shore Wild Jan 14 , 545 in Springhill
Avon River Rats Jan 15 , 445 in Springhill
Both games should be a hard hitting close affair if both teams bring there Best, We will be ready says Atkinson.

Game Time 5:45pm.
Colts Stay Positive
December 15, 2011 — The Colts stay positive about this weekend and hope to gather momentum following last weeks play. The Colts although losing two games last weekend played their best hockey so far and they can only get better and improve on their play. Heading into the last few games before Christmas the team hopes to take some positives from what has so far been a disappointing season. With a better team they hoped to challenge first place this year and are going into the break with that mindset. Keep an eye on a much improved team this weekend as they take on the South Shore Wild Saturday night at 8pm in Liverpool and back in Springhill Sunday at 2pm to take on the Spryfield Black & Silver Attack in a revenge of last weekend's game.

Cheer on your team! GO COLTS GO!

Message to Players from GM Grove Sutton
December 12, 2011 — Guy’s, just wanted to say a few thing’s here. First of all I just wanted to say how proud I am personally about the way we have played these past 3 games.

Although we haven’t gotten the results we want we can’t let this get us down. You guy’s have played your guts out and it shows that we have character and that you are not giving up. For various reasons we have not gotten off in the right direction so far but we have to keep playing hard, thing’s will turn for the better, I am sure of it. This can only make us stronger as a group. We have played through suspensions, injuries and small crowds at home which I know sometimes it’s hard to get motivated when you look up in the stands and only see a handful of people supporting us.

You have my support guy’s, play it till the end and take pride in yourselves for not quitting.

Keep your head held high, keep looking up because that’s the way we are going. We are all in this boat together.

We are a team.

Grove.

DISIPLINE AND INCONSISTANT PLAY HURTING COLTS
December 6, 2011 — General Manager Grove Sutton comments: "Our team is better than what we have shown in the first half of this season."

"As coaches we are disapointed with our play to this point. Both Grove and I have had to switch things around too much to be able for this team to gel," Says Paul Atkinson. "Suspensions, injuries, and the lack of commitment by some - not all - have contributed to this situation. As experienced coaches and once players we have to take some responsibility for what has transpired. We have let the situation spiral and now have to tighten the reins so the players that have decided they want to play hockey and commit are not left out in the cold. It has now come to a time that we may have to make some real tough decisions. The players have got to take responsibility for their actions and if not it will make the decisions for us that much easier. Losing to The Wild and the Phantoms, two teams we should have taken points from, has forced the coaching staff to take a tougher and more professional approach to this team. Too many people have worked too hard to establish this team in a short while and have the player base we had this season to allow a bump in the road and put us off track."

"On Sunday we played in Brooklyn against the River Rats with a short bench; we did come up short but, I saw a turn around in the play of our team. We were only penalized twice: a tripping call on a break a way and a holding the stick penalty in front of our net. A big improvement from the previous 5 games. The boys stuck to a game plan, kept their comments to themselves, and played with class and heart. I am looking at this as a turn a round and hope the players do as well. We will be in tough again this weekend as we play the league leading chester clippers but, with a bigger bench and the heart I saw in the Avon game we will be alright. The wins will come and prepare us for the first round of the playoffs."

Colts come unprepared
The Colts simply did not show up to play against the South Shore Wild as the Colts got thumped 8-1. Scoring the lone goal for the Colts was Marshall Terrio on a pass from Andrew Barron.
Colts fall short to Lions
In a goal filled affair, the Oxford Tim Hortons Jr. C Colts fell short to the Clare Lions 7-6 in a hard fought overtime. The Colts were up 6-4 with less then ten minutes left in the third period but a collapse of the system in the remaining minutes put the Colts in a 6-6 tie when regulation was over. After a viscous hit by Bruce Burdock in the defensive zone, the puck freed up and Eric Locke found the back of the net to end the game in overtime. Marshall Terrio had two goals and two helpers in the loosing effort for the Colts. Michael Latinski, Jordan Duggan and Liam Flannigan added a goal and an assist for the Colts. Foote added a single tally and Cody Sutton, Travis Leblanc, Justin Farrow and Andrew Barron all had single helpers for the Colts.
Six Things We Want to Share with You the Fans
November 24, 2011 — It was another rough weekend for the Colts last weekend falling to both the South Shore Wild and the Chester Clippers. The Management and Bench disappointed with what should have been a better start to the season after last years playoff run want to address the situation and Coach Paul Atkinson said there was six things he wanted to share with you the fans:

1) Keep an eye out for the Colts player changes that have already started.
2) The Colts have cut back the roster following Sunday's game by 5 players.
3) A smaller bench will help the Colts - more ice time for key players.
4) Look for some stronger Defense this weekend with the return of Cody Sutton and Macadam Baird.
5) Five key guys will be back in line up after the Spryfield suspensions.
6) No excuses - the team must play and gel better for things to turn around.

Keep an eye on the site for more updates.

Don't forget the Colts host the Clare Lions Saturday night at 7:30pm then take on the South Shore Wild at home again Sunday 1:00pm.

GO COLTS GO!!!!!!

Colts Looking For Points This Weekend
November 17, 2011 — The Colts will be looking for points this weekend when we travel to Liverpool on Saturday for a 6:15pm meeting with the South Shore Wild. This team has a great goal tender and if a team goes into this building thinking their going to put there gear on and come out with two easy points they are mistaken. The Wild are improving every game. "I expect a tough game." says coach Paul Atkinson. The colts will see a couple new faces in the line up this weekend veteran Jr C player Matt Shaplieh and rookie defence men Gregory Dawe, son of Brookfield Elks GM Joel Dawe. Matt brings a bag of tools with him as well as some toughness, Gregor will fit in fine with the defence core. Gregory moves the puck well and makes smart puck decisions. Gregory last played with the Midget AAA Brookfield Elks and will be a breath of fresh air for the club. "We need a mixture of young guys and veterans," says GM Grove Sutton "so the mix of Shaplieh and Dawe is a good move for the colts. This is not a one year program the line up has to be balanced, so we have a core year after year. The Colts will be trimming there line-up down more in the next couple weeks commitment is the name of the game right now so hopefully the players will realize this. I feel the boys will come out strong and build off the tough win in Spryfield." The Colts will return home Sunday at 1pm to meet with the Chester Clippers.

Colts Rebound
November 15, 2011 — The Oxford Colts were in Spryfield to face the Silver and Black Attack Sunday afternoon. The two teams battled and battled hard and at the end there were a total of 46 penalties,118 penalty minuets and 24 game suspensions handed out with the Colts coming out on top 7-4. Oxford received Goals from Corbyn Gallangher, Marshall Terrio, Justin Farrow, Bruce Burdock, Daniel MacKinnon, Jordon Duggan, and Andrew Barron. Spryfields Eugene Burns netted a pair with singles coming from Jeremy MacDonald and Korey Cavelier. Corey Breese gets the loss with Oxfords Jesse Ogden getting the win. Shots on goal 38-20 for the Colts.

"The win was great" says coach Paul Atkinson, "it is too bad things turned out the way they did because up until a line brawl in the second period the game was close and was a tough hard hitting game." The Colts led 3-1 after the first then the Attack went up 4-3 and the colts fought back and tied it at 4. With 4:42 left in the second period Colts goaltender Jesse Ogden covered the puck and an Attack player crashed the net and crossed checked Ogden to the back of head while he was down on the ice. Colts players took exception to this and a line brawl ensued. Ogden took the brunt of the injuries as two attack players fought with him. The officials just got this melee stopped when the Attack net-minder was chirping at our bench another melee started which ended up with the Spryfield coach sending 5 players off the bench. "We were outnumbered everywhere." says GM Grove Sutton. "It took all we had to keep our players on the bench while hoping the officials would get control quickly. I give them that they evened the players up quickly as at one point it was 2 colts and 6 attack." "It could have all been avoided if they had not ran our tender." Atkinson says, "When Spryfield Coach Paul Strople decided to send his bench that takes things to another level now we are talking about the safety of my players. This my friends will not be tolerated or forgotten."

The Colts next game will be Saturday on the road when they travel to South Shore to take on the Wild. They are back home on Sunday as the league leading Chester Clippers are in town for a 1pm start. We need all the support we can get as we strive to catch the Attack to secure home ice advantage come playoff time.

Colts Come Unprepared
November 13, 2011 — The Oxford Colts came unprepared tonight to play hockey. Any preparation they had was lost when they saw that the River Rats showed up with two lines and one tender. They thought that with four lines they could put their gear on and win a game. The rats had a different idea about their situation and with smart coaching the team bought into the coaches strategy and came out with a 7 - 2 victory. We have to be better in all aspects from the goaltenders out, no one stepped up and took control of this game, we did not stick to our game plan, we had players jumping on the ice when we had a Power Play that were not suppose to be on as well as on the penalty kill. "A game plan is important" says coach Paul Atkinson. After the game players were givin a talk to about having heart and commitment which right now we are lacking. The team will dress three lines tomorrow in Spryfield. "We are going to live or die with the most committed players." says General manager Grove Sutton. "The team has 25 players carded, and we will be down to 20 by December 1, so the guys have two weeks to show and lay it on the line. The coaches and executive have worked too hard to continue to ice a team that is better than they show, and continue to lose games because players are not prepared. The game is behind us now and we will regroup and travel to Spryfield tomorrow seeking 2 points. Preparation is key in life in general, without it negative outcomes are around the corner."

Clippers Quick Offence Prove Too Much
November 7, 2011 — The Clippers scored early and often Sunday against the Colts. Although the Colts pretty much played even with the Clippers in the 3rd period the hill was too big to climb against the high powered offence that the Clippers have as the score ended up 12-3 in favour of the Clippers. "We are obviously not happy with loosing 12-3 in our own building but we just have to put this game behind us, re-group and get ready for the River Rats Saturday night in Oxford. On a positive note, Newcomers Jordan Mackey and Zach Rushton look like they will fit in nicely with our team as they both played well on Sunday afternoon." says Coach Paul Atkinson.
