February Winter Program Schedule 2010:
Here is the schedule for the February Winter Program Session of fully
registered children which will be held at the Beachwood Elementary School Gym entrance on the side of the building:
Saturdays 8am to 9:45am (11 years olds and up).
Saturdays 8am to 8:30am (5 and 6 year olds).
Sundays 8am to 9:15am (7 and 8 year olds).
Sundays 9:30 am to 10:45am (9 and 10 year olds).
*Dates the Winter program will be held Feb 13 & 14, Feb 20 & 21 and Feb 27 & 28.
Only those players registered are eligible to participate in the Winter Program. Parents who have not as of yet sent in their bond checks, medical release forms or registration forms are not officially registered.
One item that was a bit confusing that we would like to clarify is baseball
age. With Little League we only go by baseball age. This is determined by
the age of your child as of April 30th, 2010. Two examples would be if
your child's birth date is April 13, 2000 he would be baseball age 10 even
though he/her is 9 right now. Another example is if your child's birth date
is May 1, 2000 he/she would be baseball age 9. This is an important
guideline to follow and please refer to this when determining your time slot
for the Winter Program.

COACHING AND CLINICS:
BPBLL is requiring all head coaches to attend a Rutgers Safety Clinic. This clinic is the only one that has been tried in a court of law and won. As a league and individually we feel this is necessary to protect everyone from liability and ensure our coaches are safety conscious.
We currently have two dates for these clinics. February 11th and February
24th. Both are at Berkeley Townships new "Man Cave" in Bayville off of
Moorage Avenue. Time for both are 6:30 SHARP.
We were told the doors will be shut at 6:30 and no one will be allowed to enter after 6:30.
The cost of materials, which is required for the clinic, is $25.50 and can be purchased from our league.

Please let us know if there are any problems. You must be have this certification to coach in our league.
Currently we are still looking for 2 Minor National League Head Coaches and
2-3 Tee Ball Head Coaches. We have a program to hand out to coaches who
are unsure if they are able to coach. There will be help so please
volunteer your time. As we near the start of the season if we do not have
enough coaches we will have no other choice but to have 20 kids per team
instead of the normal 12. Eric Diaz is heading the coaching department so

We are in the process of setting up individual division coaching meetings to go over rules and expectations.
We will contact all coaches upon setting these dates.
Please check with the league if you are unsure.
TRYOUTS AND DRAFTS SCHEDULE:
Anyone wishing to have their child tryout for the Majors please email or
call the league so we can set up properly to evaluate your child. We are
offering two tryout dates. Anyone not currently playing in the Majors must
make at least 50 percent of the tryouts to be considered for the draft. If
you cannot make tryouts the child will not be eligible to play in the
Majors. If you cannot make either of these dates please submit in writing a
valid reason for the board to review.
The dates for the tryouts are:
Saturday February 27th from 8AM-10AM at the Beachwood Elementary School
Saturday March 6th from 8AM-10AM at the Beachwood Elementary School
All coaches are encouraged to attend to see how the process works. Minor
National and Major Coaches must attend. Coaches will be grading each child
trying out in five categories. Each category is worth 5 points for a total
of 25. A child who gets 15 or more points based on the coaches grading will
be put into the major league draft.
Draft will be held after tryouts on Saturday March 6th at the Beachwood
Municipal Building. Major League draft will start at 10:30. Minor
American, Minor National and Tee Ball Drafts will be held at 1:00.

Please note that if your child wishes to play in the Majors or is already in the Majors.
They MUST be registered by February 28th to be eligible to play according to Little League rules.

We are looking for returning coaches and anyone interested in coaching in Beachwood/ Pine Beach Little League for 2010.
BWPBLL is looking to change the attitude of our baseball league. We are looking for coaches who are willing to put in the time and effort that it will take to get to our goal of making BWPBLL more competitive and a fun place to play ball. We are planning for each coach to attend coaching clinics, so we as coaches can learn and teach our kids the correct fundamentals of baseball. We need to teach the kids the right way at an early age, so that when they reach the Major level they are better prepared to compete.
The Volunteer Application Form is also located under the Handouts section on the left side of our LL web site. This form is mandatory for everyone to fill out and will be used to conduct a background check.
