From the President

I am writing this due to recent activities that occurred at the Bus Zebley Field. I am reaching out to all parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and siblings.

I have been President of the Bus Zebley League for the past two years.   I was handed the league because I was, in the coaches minds, able to continue the traditions on which our league was founded. Bus Zebley believed in children of all ages, sex and ethnicities, regardless of ability be given the opportunity to step on to a baseball field and learn not only the game of baseball but sportsmanship, responsibility, fair play, and teamwork.

Parents have always been a huge part of our league, routing for not only their sons and daughters, but all of the team players. The league has never asked nor mandated that parents help contribute to fundraising or work a concession stand at any time, which is the case at most little league organizations. The only thing we ask and expect of our parents is to be supportive and respectful of all our players, coaches, and umpires.

The league does not tolerate disrespect or un-sportsmanship like conduct from its players or coaches. I along with the vice president and coaches cannot remove a parent from the field or the park area for unruly behavior so it falls on your son or daughter who is playing to face the consequences of parents’behavior.

I have heard and witnessed other leagues where the parents are as much to blame as the players from game disruptions. Bus Zebley has been, and will continue, to be above that standard ofbehavior. I take pride in the fact that for the last two seasons, local businesses and corporations have embraced our philosophies and have donated generously to the Bus Zebley Youth Baseball League. These donations have enabled the league to buy much needed equipment and defray cost such as insurance and uniforms for our players, which in turn means less out of pocket money from parents. It also means that parents can come to a game, sit down and watch your son or daughter play, and not stand in a hot concession booth during June.

I would hate for one of our sponsors to show up to a game and witness any display of unruly behavior from players, coaches, or parents. They would think twice before they donated to the league ever again. I have always told parents that I or the Vice president is available at any time you have a concern or issue.  I am one of the first Presidents to place my personal number on the Bus Zebley website. Please, if you have any issues, call me directly. I will handle it as soon as possible.

Thank you
