One of our teams had the honor to play on the USC field and work out with the players. Here is a link to the story:
Fred Dorton spearheaded this opportunity and here is what he said:
"I remember being in College Prep classes (now AP) in high school but having no idea of how to apply to college upon high school graduation. I would eventually become the first in my immediate family to attend a major university and there were key people along that path that inspired me to achieve that goal. Talking to a few of these young men who are extremely talented and smart reminded me of my school experiences - some of my friends chose different paths but easily could have become lawyers, doctors or played in the NFL. I was honored to be able to bring these young men to USC to engage in a real college experience, not only from a sports perspective but also from an academic perspective, but most importantly to see that the students at USC and other major universities look just like them and if they desire to attend a major university they can do it. I want to first thank Coach Ty Mitchell because he really supports and believes in these kids. I also want to thank Maurice Young, Danielle Harvey Stinson, Syreeta Greene, Corliss P Bennett- McBride, Jason Douglas Lewis, Christian David Sutton, Carson Ravens, AlphaDelta Chapter, the coaches, parents and athletes who play on the Carson Ravens Football Team. We had a lot of fun that weekend and looking forward to doing it again next year for a third year in a row. #humbleservant."
We want to THANK YOU, Fred for your service and mentoring.
