Having finished as the District 58 South Champions, The Cat City All-Stars was anxious to get started vs. District 58 North Champion, Yucaipa South..Fisrt game did not go so well, they pitched better, hit better, ran better, played defense better, ....

Win or Season over, good attitude coming in, but once again Yucaipa just too much too handle, they showed they were the better team this Season, good luck next year......

It was a good fun Season, and now that our feet are wet in All-Stars, you know the hard work it will take to compete at a high level, next year should be a much more competitive All-Star group, cya on the diamond.......

NIGHT THEY POUNDED OUT 16 HITS TO WIN BY A MERCY RUN RULE GAME AND FORCE A GAME 2, IT WAS AWESOME HITTING TO SEE.....THEY FINISHED OFF THE GAME WITH 2 RUNS IN THE BOTTOM OF THE 5TH TO END UP BY 10 AND CALL THE GAME EARLY, JOB WELL DONE.....

THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME ON HAND, WINNER TAKE ALL, AND ADVANCE TO THE NEXT ROUND........WITH A GOOD GAME PLAN IN HAND, THIS GAME WAS A GOOD BASEBALL GAME TO WATCH.....I PERSONALLY SAW 5 PLAYS THAT WOULD HAVE MADE THE ESPN TOP 10, AND DEFENSE WAS STRONG FOR BOTH TEAMS.......BETO"LEFTY" HELD THE ANZA TEAM WITH 2 HITS THROUGH 4 AND 1/3 INN.PRETTY GOOD WORK, AND WAS RELIEVED BY MIKE"ROMEO", WHO PROCEEDED TO HOLD DOWN ANZA AND SILENCE THE RALLY THEY WERE ATTEMPTING TO PUT TOGETHER.....HE GOT US THE FINAL 2 OUTS, AND STRANDED THE BASES LOADED IN THE BOTTOM OF THE 5TH.......THE FIREWORKS THEN GOT STARTED, "PEANUT" MICHAEL 1B, "MAGOO" JONATHAN 3B, EL INDIAN"JUAN" 2B, "FLACO" JOSEPH 2B, LEFTY BETO 1B, GATO ALEX 1B, SMOKE CLEARED, 5 RUNS CAME IN, AND NOW 6-0 GOING INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE 6TH.....ROMEO STRUCK OUT THE 1ST BATTER, HIT THE SECOND, STRUCK OUT THE 3RD BATTER, AND WALKED THE #9 HITTER, EL INDIAN WAS CALLED ON TO HELP THE FELLAS GET THE LAST OUT, BALL 1, STRIKE 1, BALL 2, STRIKE 2, STRIKE 3 LOOKING, CATHEDRAL CITY THE SOUTH DIVISION CHAMPIONS, CONGRATULATIONS, JOB WELL DONE....................GOOD LUCK TUES. DOUBLE ELIMINATION ROUND......

So All-Stars finally came to a crashing hault, we came up and played really flat (ONLY 2 HITS), we must have been running on fumes........BUT THERE IS NO ONE MORE PROUD OF THE WAY YOU GIRLS PLAYED IN THIS TOURNEY THAN MYSELF...........WE PUT UP 49 RUNS AND 103 HITS IN 6 GAMES, AND FACED THE BEST GAME THE OTHER TEAMS HAD AS THEY REFUSED TO BE BEATEN BY AN ALL GIRLS TEAM........I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM WESTERN DISTRICT PRESIDENT SAYING HOW EXTREMELY IMPRESSED HE WAS THAT A TEAM OF GIRLS WOULD SCARE THE CLEATS OFF OF BOYS TEAMS, AND HOPES YOU GIRLS CONTINUE IN THE SAME DIRECTION YOU ARE HEADING SO THAT THERE IS HOPE FOR GIRLS SOFTBALL FROM OUR AREA, AS SOFTBALL DOES NOT DO SO WELL FROM OUR DISTRICT.......AGAIN, I AM EXTREMELY PROUD OF THE WAY YOU COMPETED, AND YOU ARE TRULY "ROCK STARS" AS THE OTHER LEAGUES HAVE LABELED YOU GIRLS, CYA ON THE DIAMOND IN WINTER..............

So if you parents and kids are not aware, Little League Directors and Opposing Coaches are looking at "Our Girls" like ROCK STARS........I have been approached by various members of the group, been asked if we have room for their daughter on our team(29Palms League President), no matter where he needs to drive to get their training........I believe I could write a book with all the side talk going on in Yucca with our team, but here is a story I had to share....our team was scheduled to play in girls All-Star tournament, for whatever reason other cities dropped out and left us with boys, the only people that knew were us, and the Regional Director out of San Berdo.............Yucca White was the first team we played, and their thought was, "wow this is a very small team, they must not eat well in Cat City".....then our girls took their hats off for the "Pledge of Allegiance", they were all wearing Face Paint applied by Melini"Mely Mel's Mom", but we all had long hair like girls, couldn't be, right? asked their Coach to himself.........we then put up 5 runs and "Hit like boys, and they all answer to nicknames not girls names", I was finally approached in the 3rd inning after he asked the umpire, "Are they all Girls, and what are you doing here? Do you know you can set baseball back 50 years if you beat any of the teams here? I hope it is not our team, as we have the best players, and it will send a bad vibe to all boys Coaches in this tourney"....I proudly answered his curiosity, "YES, WE ARE AN ALL GIRLS TEAM", I personally was extremely PROUD we were here to play, but now know that OUR GIRLS are in a Championship game everytime we play, as none of the boys want to lose to the Lil Sluggers All-Star team that can really hit!!!, Way to make a splash in the first All-Star Tourney for Cat City, keep up the good work, cya on the diamond........
