Welcome to the home of
Central PA Ice Hockey

|
The 2009-2010 hockey season has seen player numbers fall. As a result we did not have a enough members to field a team. We areworking hard at requirting new players. We have several players interested, but we do need a few more to have a team on the ice. If you are interested on getting a head start on next season, contact us.
Thank You
A very special "Thank you" to the Spring Cove School Board & Administration, Central High School principal Dave Crumine & Athletic Director Charles Gojmerac and to the Penn Cambria School district, Superintendent, High School Principal and athletic director for supporting the local ice hockey players.
Join the Central PA hockey team today !

Mission Statement
Our goal is to provide an ice hockey program for student athletes who are not enrolled in a school that offers a hockey program. The Central Pennsylvania Ice Hockey Association (CPIHA) mission is to promote sportmanship, hard work and dedication to the sport of ice hockey. This organization will teach the skills of hockey, but in the process teach the skills of team play.
Past Seasons
Over the past seasons, CPIHL has always put together competitive teams playing in various leagues. We started out in the Laurel Highlands Scholastic Hockey League(2002-2005), playing as the Central PA Wolves. From 2005 to 2007 the varisty moved to the highly competitive open division of the PIHL. At this time the varsity changed their name and uniforms from The Wolves to the Central Dragons. The junior high team continued playing as the Wolves. The 2007-2008 season saw us moving to Laurel Mountain Hockey League.
THE CPIHA WOLVES INAUGUARAL SEASON 2002-2003
The Junior High team finished the regular season with a 15-1 record, and were the regular season champions of the Laurel Highland High School Ice Hockey League. They ended the season as first runner up in the playoff series. They also captured the first ever Dean Patterson Little Stanley Cup during a tournament over the holidays. The junior high team also placed four players in the League's All-Star game.
The Varsity team finished with a 9-10-1 record in a very competive league. In the playoofs, the seventh seed Hollidaysburg eliminated them, then Hollidaysburg went on to win the championship. The varsity team placed five players in the All-Star game.
THE 2003-2004 SEASON
Both the Junior High and Varisty teams played in the Laurel Highlands Hockey League.
For the second year in a row, the junior high team won the regular season title with a 13-1-2. They losted a tough battle with Ligonier Valley for the championship.
The Varsity team finished the season with a 15-7-1 record.
THE 2004-2005 SEASON
For the third year in a row, the Junior High team won the regular season title with a 16-3-1 record. They went on to beat Ligonier Valley for the League Championship.
The Varisty team finished the regular season in second place with a 13-5-3 record.
THE 2005-2006 SEASON
The varisty moved to the highly competive Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League (PIHL)as a Co-op team. Athletes from many schools are participating, but PIHL rules require that the team be associated with the school with the most players. The Spring Cove School Board and Central High School graciously granted use of the school name and mascot, the Central Dragons.
The varsity finished with a .500 record. They were the 8th seed in the playoffs. Facing # 1 seed Kiski Area, Central led throughout the game, only losing in overtime, playing with only 2 lines.
The Junior High team remained the Wolves and played an independent schedule.
THE 2006-2007 SEASON
This season saw a decline in Junior High players. The Junior High merged with Altoona, as their numbers were low also.
The season was also a tough year for the Varsity as well, struggling to a 2-18 record.
THE 2007-2008 SEASON
The Varsity team moved from the PIHL to the Laurel Mountain Hockey League. We had a very succesful season, finishing second in the regular season standings with an 9-5-1 record.
Central PA lost the first round of the playoffs 4-1
