The 18U Chattanooga Cherokees Baseball Club competed in the two most scouted and most competitive tournaments in the country. In the 18U WWBA National Championship, the only team from the Chattanooga Area, played in the East Cobb Braves 17U pool. The Braves lost in the finals of the 192 team tournament on a walk-off 2 out RBI Single by the Florida Bombers. Earlier in the year, we played the East Cobb Braves 17u to a 9-8 loss.

In the 18U BCS Finals played down in Ft. Myers at the Red Sox and Twins spring training complexes, we played short handed and lost to the SW Florida Baseball team that are in the Championship game against the East Cobb Braves 17u. Both Braves and SW Florida went 9-0 to get to the Championship game. We lost to the SW Florida Baseball 10-8 in the opening round game. Also, in the 18U BCS Finals, the Cherokees played against Team Mizuno of Puerto Rico. The PR Baseball team was undefeated in the tournament until they played us. Tied 2-2 in the 6th, Team Mizuno went up 4-2. In the bottom of the 6th, Adam Knudtson gave the Cherokees a 5-4 lead with a 2 run home run. With 2 outs in the top of the 7th, Team Mizuno hit a solo home run to tie the game. In the bottom of the 7th, the Cherokees loaded the bases against their number 1 pitcher and could not prevail. We tied 5-5. Our 18U team has played one of the most competitive schedules in the country. No other Chattanooga or area team as played the level of competition and in front of as many scouts as the Cherokees. We will have tryouts for this fall and next summer on August 7th at Bradley Central (14-16u 1PM, 17-18u 4PM).

Zeth Stone 08'
Congratulation to former standout for the Cherokees Zeth Stone. Zeth Graduated from Baylor School last year and played this year ('09) for Southern Conference power Elon University. After an outstanding freshman campaige, Zeth was awarded to the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team.

Zeth has recently transfered to the University of Tennessee to play for Coach Raleigh.

18U WWBA Nat'l Championship Tournament
Last year, our 16u team played an extremely tough schedule. There were 8 teams we played that competed in the 2009 18U WWBA National Championship Tournament (Considered the best tournament in the Country). Here is how the teams did in the tournament.

* 1st Place in Pool

*Georgia Roadrunners 18U 8-1 Lost in the semifinals

2010 RHP Dustin Lawson gave up 2 earned runs against the Roadrunners for a tough loss to the Semifinalist team. (194 team tournament)

*East Cobb Astros 16U 6-1 Lost in the 2nd round

We were tied with the Astros after 3 innings (2-2)

*St. Louis Pirates 17U 5-1 Lost in the 1st Round

We had a 5 to 0 lead and lost on a walk-off single with 2 outs.

*Excel Blue Wave 18U 4-2 Lost in the 1st Round

Carolina Cubs 18U 4-1

Upstate Mavericks 18U 3-1-2

East Cobb Indians 17U 2-3

Competitive Edge Dodgers 0-4-1

With an overall record of 32-14-3, I believe that this may be the toughest schedule played for a 16U team.

Team History
Welcome to Chattanooga Cherokees Baseball. We are an organization that was started back in 2000 that has grown and will hopefully grow even more in the next couple years. Our first team was talented and competed with a very strong schedule. Now that team has left and many of those players are now playing in college (look at the link on the side called Collegiate Cherokees). Now the next generation ball players are here and are ready for their baseball careers to begin.

We will be playing in showcases and major tournaments in the summer. Our goal for the team is to expose each player to college and Pro scouts and to teach the players how to become better ball players mentally and physically. By playing in more showcases, there will be a better chance for each player to find the right college baseball team. By playing in major tournaments, the players will be exposed to challenging teams as well as players that will be playing in college and possibly the Pro's some day.
