Clarington Orioles Minor Mosquito – great performance at the OBAs
The Clarington Orioles, Justin Barry Optical Minor Mosquito team competed in the OBA finals this weekend in Brantford. Having completed the regular season placing 3rd in the Eastern Ontario Baseball Association, these minor mosquito ball players were ready to compete, along with 21 other teams, for a chance at becoming the provincial champions in the single A division.
These little league ball players fought hard during the tournament, winning 3 of 4 games, and earning a spot in quarter final action, with only 6 teams remaining. The 5th game against London turned out to be exciting baseball, with tight scoring, and amazing defense by both teams. The score changed hands throughout the game; however, in the end, London squeezed an additional run, winning by a score of 3-2 and advancing to the semi-finals.
Despite the final outcome, these young athletes played major league baseball throughout the tournament, with great hitting, pitching and overall defense. They fought hard, showed passion for the game, and never gave up. They have come a long way from the beginning of the season, in a year where they are pitching for the first time, and the coaches are extremely proud of them!
