Another New Year is Here

Another year is in the books and a new one is about to begin! We would like to welcome our new presidents Doug Pastore and Pat Boyle who will lead the Chanticleers this year. We will be updating their contact information soon. Another year means returners and new guys. Last year was a huge success getting to playoffs but left with a little sour taste after failing to reach the regional final. This year looks just as promising and hopefully the experience and hard work of everyone will pay off even more this year. And by the way our school is the Natty Champs for D1 baseball so GO CHANTS as always.

CCU Powers Past Georgia Southern with an Explosive Offensive Performance

The Chants had their offense clicking during this weekends sweep of conference opponent Georgia Southern. The Chants poured on 45 runs over three games along with some stellar pitching performances. In game 3, veteran Tyler Wyeth threw 74 pitches through seven innings and 6 punch-outs. Rookie Jay Banks hit his first homerun of the season and veteran Connor Skrypek had 7 RBI's and 7 hits over the weekend. The Chants have won 8 out of their last 9 games and have a record of 8-1 in conference play with one more series to go against conference foe USC.

Rain couldn't hold off a sweep of UNCC

CCU had a strong overall performance offensively and defensively against the 49ers of Charlotte. Even with game 1 ending after only five innings the Chanticleers still managed to pour on 16 runs. Game 2 ended in a score of 6-3 with another great pitching performance per usual from Jake Dyer. Game 3, CCU completed the sweep in dramatic fashion via a 3-run walk-off homerun from rookie Isaac Greer. He completed the weekend batting 2/4 with a single and 5 RBI's. Our next series is this weekend versus conference foe Georgia Southern.

Big Series Win Versus Clemson

CCU opened up conference play with a series win versus rival Clemson Tigers. Shut down pitching and offense led the Chanticleer's to take 2 of 3 games and was almost capped off with a comeback win for a sweep but fell short 7-6. Rookie Isaac Greer has opened the season on fire with two home-runs on Saturday and currently has a batting average of .400. CCU takes on UCF

In our first series against an NCBA opponent it was a slow weekend offensively for the Chanticleers leading to 3 losses against the #10 team in the nation. On a bright note the pitching staff was impressive with solid outings from Tyler Wyeth, Jake Dyer, and Hunter Hewitt. Improvements will be made and we will be ready for conference play this coming weekend against the Clemson Tigers. Keep checking back for updates on the season and follow us on twitter for live tweeting during our games this year!
